1.Easiest way to get to Naples from Rome 2. Hotels in Island of Ischia

      Naples Jan 8, 2017 at 3:01 PM

      Dear local experts:
I am traveling from Los Angeles CA, will land in Rome. 1. What is the quickest and easiest way to get from Rome to Naples. Please give me specific links, your personal experience, etc.
I will stay a couple of days in Naples. I want to book a hotel on the island of Ischia and also want to spend at least one entire day in Prochida. I understand that the same ferry that runs from Naples stops on both islands - Prochida and ischia. How much is a ticket (average)?
      2. What hotel on Ischia is NICE, having a good THERMAL pool, a spa facility (sauna, jakuzzi), near beaches AND up to 150 US dollars a night? (hope it exists :-)
      Thank you all. Best,
      Gelena

    • Summer holiday

      Italy Jan 11, 2017 at 3:13 AM

Sorry to hear this site is shutting down.

I had an incredible summer honeymoon in Switzerland thanks entirely to commenters on this forum. I'm really grateful.

This question is very broad but I thought I might get lucky again!

Hoping for a may/June family holiday this year.
Traveling with a three year old and a one year old.
Beach, hotel, pools, nature, good food, a little old town within walking distance.
We really want it to be child friendly with food and drink readily available but not too big a complex.
We'd love to visit Italy, also considering Greece and France, I'll post over there too.

Many thanks if you have any thoughts!

    • Which resort to stay at Lake Garda?

Lago di Garda Jan 5, 2017 at 1:52 AM

Hello, what a great website. Hope someone can help with this. Me and my partner are hoping to go to Lake Garda in the summer but we are unsure as to which resort to base ourselves at. We are both 40 and although we are definitely beyond wanting a Club 18/30 type holiday we still want a nice lively resort that has a nice nightlife until fairly late at night. Last year we went to Sorrento and this was absolutely fantastic, lots of open-air restaurants, bars and even traditional music and singing in the streets at night, this was just perfect, so we wondered if any Lake Garda resort offered something similar? I was maybe thinking of Sirmione or Garda as a base as those would both be easier for us to get to, but I have no idea what the nightlife would be like. Hope someone can help? Thanks, Sarah.

      Venice Dec 20, 2016 at 2:00 PM

Hi, we will be spending 7 days in venice, including New Years Eve. We want to make sure that we sample great food and wine during our trip, as this is our passion. It doesn't have to be high end but it does have to be high quality. We are wanting to kick back and have a (relatively) stress free and memorable time. We are staying in a centrally based apartment so are happy to cook, but would much prefer to eat out - especially in less touristy (yes, I know - Venice is a tourist destination...) areas. All tips gratefully recieved.

      Italy Dec 18, 2016 at 2:10 AM

Hi! I'm going to spend a month in Italy (July) and I have to choose between Genova and Perugia. I think, Perugia offers more opportunities for excursions (Roma, Firenze, Pisa) but...does it have a good social life (museums, buildings and nightlife) ? On the other hand, Genova is close only to Milan but has a lot of things to do. What do you tihnk?

And of course...which city is more expensive?

      Thanks a lot!

      Day trips from Spoleto

      Umbria Jun 29, 2015 at 12:25 PM

Hi, we're going to go to Umbria in October: Spoleto and Norcia. We consider 2 days out: full day and half of day during our stay in Spoleto: could you recommend the places to visit: I've been in Assisi and Perugia before, so Trevi, Todi, Spello, Orte or, may be, you know any other hidden gems? The criterion is: reliable public transport connection (not once a day))) and the way shouldn't take more than 1 - 1,5 hours by train (bus) from (to) Spoleto. As i have made detailed search in internet already, I'd appreciate advices of people who had been there and able to base opinions on their own impressions:-) Thank you in advance, Elenasmiley

Where to base ourselves in Umbria for 8 - 10 days?

      Umbria Jun 4, 2015 at 8:04 PM

Hello friends.. So we're narrowing down our itinerary for next year's trip to Italy. We think we will be in Umbria for 10 days around the end of May. We will be renting an automobile, so my question is Where would you suggest as the best place for us to base ourselves? Or, should we consider one place to stay in the north and one place to stay in the south?

We also thought about taking a train to Perugia and picking up the vehicle there instead of in Bologna.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks... Tom

      Opening hours for churches

      Assisi Jan 21, 2015 at 2:12 PM

Dear friends hallo again. Since we will be visiting Assisi as well, for a day trip, we would like to visit some of the churches. But, unfortunately, we don't have any luck at finding the exact opening hours for some of them. And when we find them at some sites they don't seem to match one info with the other. So, in short, any help upon this would be mostly appreciated. The churches are:
      1. Eremo delle Carceri
      2. Tiempo di Minerva
      3. Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli
      4. New Church
      5. Oratorio dei pellegrini
      7. San Pietro
      8. Parish of Santa Maria Maggiore
      9. Church of santo Stefano
      10. Santa Maria delle Rose

Thanks again for your precious help.
