PHX Car Rental transfers, eating and shopping.

      Phoenix Dec 28, 2016 at 2:32 AM

i am flying out of Phoenix which is an airport I've not been through previously. Can anyone advise ease of transfer from dropping off (Alamo) car hire and navigating through to Departures Terminal 3? I think it may involve a shuttle - if so how regularly do they run (6:30 - 7:30 am. Travelling alone so no one to share luggage humping with. Potentially I could check in car the night previous and use an airport hotel (would need transfer for that though?) but hoping that traffic will be reasonable at that hour in the morning on a Wednesday even if I had to navigate short stretch of I10 over Salt River? Also too early for breakfast at hotel so any suggestions in Terminal? Guessing that the shopping will be the usual gift oriented and duty free goodies - or should I save back some dollars - wishful thinking that I'll have any!

Thinking of driving to grand canyon rather than getting bus, what is the best type of tour to do? Walk/drive?

A days road trip - Tucson to Phoenix?

      Arizona Dec 25, 2016 at 11:24 AM

I have one day to spend heading back to Phoenix for my flight the following day. Rather than head straight up interstate I had thought about a detour to take in the Salt River area - would really like to get a view of the wild horses there if the chance arose. Could do with final night accommodation within an hour of PHX. Any suggestions for route and places to stay would be welcome. Please bear in mind that I am travelling solo so need to be a little aware of safety. Thanks everyone.

    • Should I make a 7 hour drive from Vegas to Tombstone?

by novocastrian9 Online Now Jul 26, 2016 at 6:26 PM

Am doing a road trip from Las Vegas to Chicago and want to visit Santa Fe. Before that though, I am very keen to detour down to Tombstone for some authentic Wild West history. It's a 7 hour drive from Vegas and I was planning on staying 2 nights-the first to recover from the drive, then the next day, seeing what Tombstone has to offer. Would I be wasting my time? Should I just go on to Santa Fe? All opinions welcome!

      Additional things to do?

by kathykiger Online Now Feb 26, 2016 at 9:20 PM

We spent a couple hours on the main street and pretty much saw everything there plus the graveyard down the street. Is there anything else in Tombstone to see or do ?
      Thank you.

Will be bringing a motorcoach tour of seniors to Tombstone in May. Interested in hiring a step on guide to present the history and show us the sights of Tombstone for 1.5-2 hours. Is there a business in Tombstone that provides this service? haveing trouble finding one. Can anyone provide a two hour itineary if we do not have a guide and do it on our own? Thanks for any info.

WE were in the Longhorn Pub 2 winters ago from Canada. What I would like to know is the recipe they used for the Prickly Pear Margarita. What was the name of the Prickly Pear stuff also. The drink was wonderful as well as the whole dining at the Longhorn. Wish it was alot closer to Canada.

by PASue Online Now Sep 5, 2005 at 12:25 PM

This will be our first time to Arizona. We are planning a couple days at the Grand Canyon, then a day or two at Tombstone.

Besides the gunfight, what are some "must see's" or is there a recommended place to stay. will one night/2 days be enough for Tombstone, or should we plan on more time.

Help....... any information will be appreciated.

I just made a trip out to Tombstone and if I remember correctly back in the 80's or early 90's (the last time I went) wasn't there a restaurant that had the best ribs? I just remember walking by a window were the smoked ribs were cooking and the smell just made your mouth water? I didn't see it along the main drag when I went recently?
