      Senior rates on Israel rail

      Israel Oct 6, 2016 at 3:30 PM

Are only Israeli citizens allowed to use senior rates on the train? I can't find the answer at their website.

      Israel Sep 30, 2016 at 5:09 AM

My wife and I are in our late fifties and plan to visit Israel next year spending a clear 14 days there. We would like to do thing at an easy pace. We have a reasonable interest in History and do not have deep religious inclinations. We are therefore only interested in a general sightseeing and getting an overview of the lovely country. We do not mind spending some time in cities and on beaches. We largely prefer ‘do it yourself’ travel, supported by some day / longer duration guided tours. We do not prefer taxis but use buses / trains etc. After a preliminary study, I feel that perhaps we could divide our time as follows: Tel Aviv - 4 days; Jerusalem - 5 days, Guided Tour of Northern Israel - 4 days, and Guided Tour of Masada / Dead Sea 1 day. Request advice and comments on: (1) is the distribution of time in various places OK? (2) Can we avoid taking a three / four days guided tour of Northern Israel but instead do Northern Israel by basing ourselves for one or two day in Haifa and one or two days at some other place (s) and then taking local tours from there if required? (3) If so where do we base ourselves and how do we go about it so that we can cover almost all that there is to see? (4) Any other suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks in advance.

Average cost of water deliveries in the Negev Desert for hikers

      Israel Oct 1, 2016 at 12:02 PM

Hi gang. I'm planning a 1,300 mile walk across the Middle East and have been trying to sort out water caching or deliveries for the Negev in Israel. I've seen a website, Waterdrop, which can deliver water but can't find any record on the web of the average cost for each delivery for a solo traveller. If anyone has any info on this I'd be very grateful. Just trying to budget ahead.

    • Family restaurants in Tel-Aviv?

by Ariel1987 Online Now Jun 3, 2015 at 7:00 AM

I want to have a list of restaurants where I can eat with family in Tel-Aviv, its my wife and 3 kids in the age of 7,4 and 1 year old. Here in the Netherlands we have for example a lot of wok asian restaurants were you can eat for an all inclusive price and most of this restaurants have a room were the children can play.

I am looking for this kind of restaurants in Tel-Aviv. Specially restaurants where the children have a room or space to play.

      Car rental (toll, rental stations)

by schmechi Online Now May 13, 2015 at 12:17 AM

I'm planning to rent a car during my stay in Israel. I'll reach my final destination (Tel Aviv) on friday evening... Is it really true that all city stations will be closed from friday, 2:00 pm? Is Ben gurion station really the only station in whole Israel where a rented car can be returned from on weekends?

Apart from this I'm confused about Israeli toll roads: As far as I understand, there is no way to avoid surcharge, because they are priced with a transponder not distributed to car lessees... Is this true?

In case of affirmation, is only the Highway nr. 6 priced? Or even Highway nr. 1 from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem (and Ben Gurion?)

    • The safety situation in Tel Aviv

by Findian Online Now Aug 22, 2014 at 12:11 PM

We have booked flights to Tel Aviv on October and booked an apartment close to the beach area. We are travelling with small children and are a bit worried about the safety situation. Running into the bombshells would not be a holiday memory that I would like to share with our daughters age of 6 and 8.

What is the situation at the moment and is there still alarms on a daily basis? If we still choose to come to Israel, is there other areas close to Tel Aviv that have a lesser risk (such as Herzliya, Netanya)? Our flights are to/from Ben Gurion.

      Any help is appreciated,
