Can you identify these tombs in Otranto please

      Otranto Jun 28, 2016 at 4:43 AM

As we walked through Otranto we came to a partially derelict area near the castle with some tombs set in the wall. Does anyone know whose tombs they are. I do have a photo I can post.

Is that San Oronzo on the promenade in Otranto

      Otranto Jul 2, 2016 at 7:11 AM

First - thanks for all the great answers to my last question about Otranto. Now for my next question. There is a column with a statue on the top on the sea front of Otranto which looks very like San Oronzo who features a lot in Puglia towns. I have made an extensive search on the internet but no joy - does anyone know if I am right?
      Thanks

    • Bari Centrale to Port and trains in Italy

      Bari Jul 20, 2016 at 7:10 AM

Hello, I am trying to decide, if i should book a ticket for a train which will be arriving at Bari Centrale at 15.21 (I will be leaving from Milano Centrale the same day and I am taking a direct train, not risking having any changes, but I do not know how trains are in Italy, are they usually on time/late?) and my ferry to Greece is leaving at 18:00 hrs. Do you think I will have enough tiem to catch the ferry or will it be too tight? I will be travelling at the beginning of September 2016. Thank you!

by elnjoe Online Now Jun 11, 2014 at 1:04 PM

We are planning to drive from Naples airport to Italy's heel. We'll drive south through Tarento, Gallipoli and other small towns to Gagliano del Capo.
Then drive north through Otranto,Lecce,BrindisiAlberobello,Matera and return car at Naples.
Is my route as scary as Amalfi Coast?or is it straighter and closer to sea-level?
Are the towns built on mountain-side or flatter? (for senior walkers)
      Any information is gratefully accepted.

My father-in-law was in the US Navy in 1953 and spent some time in Taranto. We would like to make a trip to visit the city again, with him this spring. Any ideas on B&B's in Taranto or other family friendly accomodations? Thanks
