Cheap hotel, safe neighbourhood

by MacedonianUK Online Now Apr 25, 2016 at 8:54 AM

My son has around the world ticket, with few stops. He plan to travel for 6 weeks , as that's much he is free from his Uni over the summer.
His ticket is :London-Singapore-Auckland-Rorotonga( Cook Islands)-LA-London..
Everywhere he arranged to stay with friends but Singapore, as is his first time in SEA , he done lots of reading on the area now we just need to find good and cheap-ish place to stay for 4 nights in the city.
We know that the city is very clean and safe, yet we would like your opinion on area where to stay.
Can you gave us some pointers please?
We keep looking on line but is bit confusing.
We would like to be central as possible, clean and no too expensive.
Any ideas greatly apriciated. Many thanx

There are plenty of hotels in Singapore. You can use website like www.trivago.sg to narrow down your choices.

Hotels near the city centre are more expensive. There are cheap hotels under the Fragrance brand or Hotel81 but aren't highly rated.

    Hi Valentina

Singapore..........is a REALLY expensive country, so he would have to be careful regarding budget hotels. I have a friend who stayed in a couple, and were all bedbug infested
Areas like Little India, Chinatown are usually popular
Personally I think that Orchard Road is better

We have stayed here, and it was great..............but again, not cheap

    Singapore Hotel Tips by lynnehamman

He should look on Booking.com. Singapore........... which also shows on map where hotel is, and has reviews

Google up Ibis hotels, Singapore, these are always kept to a good standard, well located and in Singapore you will not have to walk far to a subway station.

check out on www.tripadvisor.com or other web pages such as www.bookings.com. I would expect Singapore to have several Ibis Hotels.

Transport on metro is cheap and leg power costs nothing in this small city. The large shopping centres have Food Halls with quality meals, all fairly cheap on the budget.

    Have a great holiday

Actually Singapore has long been known as one of the world’s most expensive places to visit, thus, it is not easy to find a high-quality, full-furniture, convenient and popular boutique hotel in Singapore
Why dont you try this site balotravel.net/most-popular-...
there are 7 cheap hotels to consider. $36 to $98/nite.
    Hope this helps!

For a student, I think staying at hostels where he can meet fellow backpackers is better than staying at cheap hotel.. hostels start around $18 only.. check hostelworld.com or hostelbookers.com..
