We are going to Sri Lanka for 3 weeks in March, we were thinking... Negombo, Kandy, Dambulla, Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa.... then Ella, bandarawela, haputale, Yala National Park...then Tangalle, Mirissa & Galle and back to Colombo to flight.
In there I want to do lots of eating, visit tea plantations, take cooking classes, meet locals, go trekking in mountains, I want to take the train south from Kandy, visit temples, go to somewhere where there are spices (i.e., like a factory etc), eat fresh fish, maybe a coconut plantation, see wildlife.. and my partner is a surfer and would like to get some surfing in while we are going across the south coast, maybe a few days of me relaxing on a beach while he surfs.
Q1. Is this too much?
Q2. Do I book accommodation in each of the places in the itinerary or is it better to base yourself in the middle somewhere of each of the three stages of the trip and do day trips with a private driver? I.e., Kandy (to do dambulla, sigiriya, polonnaruwa).
Q3. Anything important I am missing from the itinerary. Should I add Horton Plains? Pinnewela?
Thank you so much, any advice appreciated.
Hi can anyone advise me, how much I should expect to pay for a driver from Colombo to Sigiriya and back on the same day? Leaving at about 5am in the morning. I was told it is doable and was quoted, 13,500 Rupees. I was also quoted 5000 Rupees for a driver for a day by someone else but the Sigiriya trip may be considered a bit longer than a standard "day". How does the price sound? Too expensive or reasonable?
We'll be visiting Sigiriya and we'd like to see Sigiriya Rock, but we will not be staying in Sigiriya overnight. Could you please advise if there is any safe place in Sigiriya where we can leave our luggage for a few hours ? Paid storage lockers or any storage office ?
How long would it take to get from the airport to Sigiriya by taxi? Also how much money?
Thanks a lot.
If we don't drive, is it easy to move around within the area?
Can I take my 10 months old kid on the top of sigiriya fort.?
Basic question, is there still a wasp nest at Sigiriya?
If so, what about the location, could this pose a risk to the public?
I am organizing a trip for my parents to Sri Lanka. I am wondering if it is reasonable to take them to Sigiriya. If they get tired and cant make it to the top, will there be things to see along the way which make it worthwhile?
I'm trying to find out what type of plug adaptor I will need for Sri Lanka. I've looked on the internet but have seen conflicting information. Some say Sri Lanka uses the same as England,(i know the voltage is the same) some say it's the same as the old style English plug and some say it's the same as they use in India. Does anyone know?
we are coming to Sigiriya around 22. July. Do you think we need to book accomodation in advance or can we count on some available rooms when we show up?
Is there some accomodation where we can book via internet or at least arrange booking by email? I haven't found anything yet.
We are looking for a budget accomodation and didn't find any hostels in Sigiriya. If there's anything in Dambulla of that kind it's fine with us, too.
We are due to stay at the hotel Sigiriya in December on a half board basis. Does anyone know how much we should expect to pay for lunch and drinks from the bars?
I'm planning a group trip to the area that Sigiriya is located in. How is the weather there during this time?
I have not been back to Sri Lanka in more than a decade, so I'm excited to go.
do u know anyone who can take us around sri lanka? cheap only. we dont care if the car has no air con
How long would it take for a privately hired car for the trip from Sigiriya to Colombo? I am planning on leaving Kandy by hired car, catching sunset in Sigiriya and staying one night, visiting the rock area for the morning/afternoon, and then trying to get back to Colombo by that evening.
what would be the effects of a sound and light show at sigiriya gardens have on the site
