Inle Lake Dec 26, 2016 at 9:05 AM

I keep reading how cold it is while going with boat on Inle lake. Is it THAT cold? Is a rainproof light jacket enough?

    • Rats in Kalaw-Inle Lake trek?

      Kalaw Dec 7, 2016 at 5:17 AM

      Hello everyone,

This may sound like a bit of a strange question. I was very excited about doing the Kalaw-Inle Lake trek until I read a review from someone saying the house where they stayed at a village was full of rats. I am EXTREMELY afraid of rats, to the point that if this is the case I won't do the trek at all.

I understand that you may encounter a rat here and there when out and about and despite my phobia I can cope with it if I can "get away" from them if out in the open, but the thought of having rats running around me while I sleep is too much.

Did anyone else encounter any rats during your trek? All and any information very very appreciated as I was ready to make bookings already but this may change my travel plans a fair bit now.

      Thanks in advance!!!

    • Where to stay in Inle Lake? -- bungalows?

Inle Lake Jan 29, 2016 at 10:32 AM

Hi, I heard there are nice bungalows to stay in at Inle Lake. Does anyone have info on these? Or any nice guest houses or hotel? $30 - $60 range for 2 people. I'm fine with something away from a touristy area as long as there is transportation to get around. Thanks!

    • What are the top things to do at Inle lake?

Inle Lake Jan 20, 2016 at 10:53 AM

I'm not interested in lounging but want to see sites and have unique experiences. I'm going to Thailand as well and I hear it also has floating markets and such. Is Inle Lake different than what Thailand has to offer? It seems like such a sleepy town that we could do this in a day. No? Thanks!

      Kalaw Apr 11, 2014 at 4:30 AM

We will be arriving in Kalaw on the 13th and was hoping to do the 3 day trek to Inle April 14, 15, 16. However, the trek guide we emailed told us that they will do no trekking on the day of the festivals.
Is this absolute? Do you think we can still find a trek guide even during that period?

    • First timer...Two Days at the Lake...what is a must around the lake...

Inle Lake Aug 11, 2010 at 1:19 PM

I will be arriving at Inle Lake in a couple of weeks. I just have two days at the lake. I land at Heho at 9:15 in the morning. I am staying at the Inle Princess Resort.

So I only have two days. I want to avoid tourist traps, but want to enjoy the lake life, seeing people, visiting major temples..

On day two Should I go to the Southern part of the lake Saga2? My understanding is this will take all day, and sounds wonderful, but I will miss other things.

      Thank you

Inle Lake Aug 18, 2008 at 5:47 AM

We will be staying at Inle Princess Resort which is on the lake. We would like to know whether we should book a hotel transfer from Heho airport to the hotel. Can you please let me know what was your experience of getting the taxi and boat on your own and how much it cost and whether there is much room for bargaining. I was reading how the taxi drivers form a cartel. Is it similar for boats too? Thanks very much.

Mong Tai was a kingdom long time before. Now we are under control of Burma. If u have patriotic spirit, pls better use SHAN as a race and as a shan language (not dialects).

Pls learn the history thoroughly and then try to post the web. Don't let the other people think us(SHAN) wrong. Our culture and language is unique.
