We are travelling to Salzburg from Munich in October and would like to see the scholastic Herrenchiemsee. Will it be open at the end of October and is it possible to visit the palace and then go on to Salzburg on the same day? Thanks
If we leave Salzburg on Saturday October 20, 2007, early in the morning by rail to Rosenheim,
(1) can we leave suitcases at Rosenheim station or somewhere nearby
(2) how do we travel from Rosenheim rail station to Herrenchiemsee and how long does it take
(3) will there be enough time to see the Castle properly doing this on one day
(4) what time are the last trains from Rosenheim to Munich ?
Many thanks for any information.
I am going to drive down to the lake from Munchen. Where should I park and catch a boat to the island? I used an online mapping service, and see I must take A8, but I don't know which area to get a boat from....any help would be much appreciated! thnx!
Hello, I plan to take a train from Salzburg to Munich and am wondering if it would be better to stop in Prien and go solo to Herrenchiemsee or to take a commercial tour there from either Salzburg or Munich. Does anyone have a suggestion as to the best way to see Ludwig's island castle? Thank you in advance. Judy
