      glass bridge

      Canada 47 minutes ago

I remember seeing that there is a glass bridge in either Jasper or Banif, but I can't recall the details. I had not paid much attention as I did not intend on going that way any time soon, but now I will be going to both this summer and am wondering where it is. Thanks

    • Weather April/May

      Quebec Jan 6, 2017 at 12:21 PM

To those of you who have helped and advised with the NZ trip I'm grateful but we simply can't afford it - so we're heading back to Canada

Our rough proposed plan is to fly into Boston drive up through Lake Placid and on to Montreal/Ottawa/Quebec City -not sure if it's worth visiting Halifax so might well come back a more direct route. Thinking of visiting April/May but what about snowfall? All suggestions much appreciated - not into outdoor activities but very much folk music and historic sites - we've done Niagra

Also on my want to do list is to see the Canadian Mounted Police show - I'm visiting their website daily but from past experience is there liable to be a show in Ottawa at this time of year

Is there any public transport between Banff/Lake Louise and Jasper in the winter months?

    • 1st week in Feb

Vancouver Island Jan 17, 2017 at 5:17 AM

We have the chance to visit from London during 1st week in Feb. Probably not the best time to visit but its all we have. Will there be enough for us to do/see? Will we be able to drive around (Whistler?) or will the weather make that impossible? Grateful for your thoughts.

    • One week time in British Columbia. Suggestions ?

      Canada Dec 23, 2016 at 10:14 PM

      Hello,
We are looking to spend one weeks time in British Columbia area, which is next week. Considering weather and roads, we believe Victoria, Tofino or may be Vancouver should be ok. We are coming from Portland.
We are not into shopping, snow sports or food, but more keen to see natural sceneries. Though Tofino and Victoria have been discussed a lot on forums, I am not able to find, when question comes, what should see in Victoria in 3 days and what should I see in Tofino in 3 days.
Can somebody help us with this ?
      Thanks

    • Your personal face picture

      Canada Jan 7, 2017 at 9:30 PM

It might be a good idea to delete your personal picture, eg, face from your profile and any personal information as who knows what will be done with the information once VT is no longer active. Think of doing this from a security aspect.

      Favourite scenic areas

by GrumpyDiver Online Now Sep 26, 2013 at 9:06 AM

I'm looking to head out to the Algoma region next week for a few days to try to take in the fall colours (cameras in hand, or at least in my backpack). I expect to spend most of my time around the Sault Ste Marie - Wawa areas, so am looking at anyone's favourite scenic spots for photography. Batchawana Bay, Pancake Bay and Montreal River are on my "to do" list, as well as Lake Superior Provincial Park and Pukwaska National Park.

I have no plans to take the train through the Agawa Canyon. I am driving a 4x4 so getting around won't be a problem, but going solo means I'm going to be a bit conservative when it comes to getting too far off the beaten path.

Any thoughts about places to visit, stay and eat would be appreciated. P.S. - I know how to Google so I can find on-line information all by myself. I'm more looking for personal experiences.

    • Which route to Niagara Falls?

by sreds Online Now Apr 25, 2013 at 3:17 PM

Hi, I will be driving from Madison Wisconsin to Niagara Falls in June and will be crossing the border at Sault Ste Marie. I would really appreciate some advice on the following: For an overnight stay which would you recommend, the usa or ontario side of the border? What route would you recommend for the onward journey? Is there a route that includes a car ferry crossing? 13 years ago I did a long drive around the great lakes and I remember taking a car ferry but cannot remember where from or where it arrived (across part of lake huron maybe?) I do remember really enjoying that ferry trip though and would love to find it again to enjoy with my children. I seem to recall spending a few hours on a lovely beach after the ferry crossing. Any clues and recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

      how to fly into SSM

by UKdave Online Now Oct 3, 2004 at 7:35 AM

Hi, I've just found this website and forum and hope some of you local SSM members can help - I believe there may be 15 or so of you. I'm trying to visit SSM and was wondering which airlines fly into your airport and from where. My first thought was to get to Toronto and then go from there but perhaps there are better (and cheaper) ways to arrive. Hope this works! Thanks Dave g :)

    • Is Sault Ste. Marie french or english

by JJJolin Online Now Aug 29, 2003 at 1:37 PM

With a name like Sault Ste. Marie, I would think the local language would be French. Some people have told me differently. Can you help? Thank you, JJ
