Can anyone recommend any activities/shopping mall/arcades/book stores that operate 24/7?
My partner and I are unable to find any accommodation in Sapporo center or Shin Sapporo on Christmas Eve (24th of Dec 2016) at this point, and it appears that we will be accommodation-less for the night.
I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can suggest anything we can do to kill the overnight hours.
Is it worth to plan walking on drifting ice or is it just a tourist trap?
Is it worth to plan walking on drifting ice or is it just a tourist trap?
We need to travel with heavy luggage from Toyoko Inn Hokkaido Sapporo-eki Kita-guchi to NHK Bldg by Toho Subway Line.
Sapporo Toho Line Subway Station
I know the nearest exit at Sapporo Station to the hotel is exit 16. However, that just has stairs. Is there any route via Paseo or JR Tower Hotel Nikko which we can use whereby we won't be encountering any stairs on the way to the subway station?
When I searched Google Street View I saw an exit very near the TV Tower with an elevator (Northwest corner of the Odori Park section where the tower stands). However, I can't seem to find the exit number.. Thus, I won't know which exit to use from within the station.
Would anyone be ably to assist by directing us to the nearest Toho Line's exits with escalator/elevator at both the Sapporo Toho Line Subway Station and Odori Toho Line Subway Station, please?
Secondly, would appreciate if anyone can post the links to the layout maps of Toho Line Sapporo and Odori Stations, please?
We are hoping to be able to travel between these two places easily and quickly with our trolley bags, without encountering any stairs..
I am exploring the best option to explore Sapporo city by subway and streetcar.
Below are the places I plan to go.
1. Hokkaido Jingu Shrine (From Susukino Subway Station to Maruyama Kouen Subway Station)
2. Odori Park (From Maruyama Kouen Subway Station to Odori Subway Station)
3. Tanukikoji Shopping Arcade (From Odori Subway Station to Susukino Subway Station)
4. Mt Moiwa (Streetcar return)
5. Back to hotel near Susukino Subway Station
Should I purchase the Donichika Ticket & Dosanko Pass below? Or should I use 共通 with you card, the Subwayenvironment (500, 1100, 3300, 5500, 11,500, child 1,100) (Including the Memorial design common with u card.) Which one is the best option? Thanks a lot.
Donichika Ticket (One-day Subway Pass for Weekends and Holidays) - Yen 520.00
Dosanko Pass (One-day Streetcar 市电 Pass for Weekends and Holidays) - Yen 310.00
In February I plan to go skiing at Sapporo Kokusai Resort for two days while staying the two nights at Jozankei Onsen.
Feb 9: Depart from Sapporo straight to the ski field. After skiing, proceed to Jozankei to check in
Feb 10: Skiing
Feb 11: Check-out from Jozankei, taking the complimentary hotel shuttle back to Sapporo
Prior to the skiing trip I'll be staying in Susukino. Thus, would prefer to board the bus/coach to Sapporo Kokusai from Susukino rather than from Sapporo Station. I read that I can board the Sapporo Resort Liner from Sapporo Tokyu REI Hotel in Susukino (08:15).
Q1. Since the hotel sits at the corner, would anyone know the coach picks up passengers from Tsukisamu Dori or the side road of the hotel?
Q2. The website states the return ticket between Sapporo and Kokusai costing ¥2,500. Can I just reserve a one way ticket? I see the online reservation, but it is not yet opened for booking. There's also ¥4980 bus & chairlift package but for a day return trip, Purchased on the bus. If I want to buy this yet I need to do a reservation, how does it work? I will require ski rental and
lift passes for 2 days.
Q3. I see that I can also take the Jotetsu buses from Sapporo Tokyu REI Hotel in Susukino departing at 07:07 and 08:07 on weekday mornings on the Sapporo Kokusai website (sapporo-kokusai.jp/en/access...).
a. How much would the one way ticket for the Jotetsu buses cost?
b. Can I reserve a seat on these buses? Don't fancy standing for an hour plus...
c. Is there a luggage compartment under the belly of these buses? I will be carrying a medium sized trolley bag. Thus, hoping to store it in the luggage compartment.
d. I read that the Kappa Liner requires reservation, but does it go to Sapporo Kokusai?
Q4. From the Sapporo Kokusai website I see the last departure for Daiichi Kanko/Jotetsu bus from the ski field to Jozankei Onsen on weekdays being 16:30. Is there another bus departing later than 16:30 for Jozankei Onsen?
I will be arriving in Hokkaido on 10 May. I would like to visit Hokkaido Jingu before heading for Hakodate. Any bus from Chitose Airport that will stop at Hokkaido Jingu? Which is the most convenient way to go to Hokkaido Jingu? I will be taking a bus down to Hakodate after the visit to Hokkaido Jingu. I have a suitcase to carry. Where is the best place to store my luggage taking into account of the bus travel to Hakodate later that day? I have checked that It's 15 minutes walk if I take subway but only 1 minute's walk if I take a bus. However, I don't know where to take the bus and I don't know how long the bus journey time is. Grateful if someone can help.
Can I explore Hokkaido using local train or buses without using JR Pass?
Hello: I'd like to travel from Sendai to Sapporo, stopping in Hakodate in October 2016 using the Jr Rail pass, any tips will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
We will be in Sapporo for a couple of nights. Now I am compiling restaurant list. Besides the crab and seafood I also want to eat grilled beef tongue which I totally love. I usually eat at Negishi whenever I'm in Tokyo. My research of Sapporo unearthed two places, Tambou and Rykyu. I know at least that Rikyu originated from Sendai and they have branches in Tokyo too but I've yet to try them out. Would anyone be able to recommend which of the two is better? Or even another place for beef tongue?
I am in Sapporo and flying back to Singapore via Chitose and Narita. Where is the best place to buy some frozen wagyu beef to bring back to Singapore ? Many thanks.

Will be in Sapporo on the first week of November. May I know where could I go to photograph spectacular autumn foliage that's accessible by public transport.
Thanks for any info!
any suggestions for this coming festival next month?
Hi guys, I am going to Sapporo from 31st Jan till the 4th Feb and would like to get ideas on what to do, travelling myself and wants to see more on lifestyle/culture than tourist attractions. Also want to experience Japanses food culture as well.
I am traveling in a party of 9 pax, all adults. We will be in Hokkaido from the 14th to 23rd Dec. Upon arrival in Chitose Airport we will have a coach to transport us to Niseko - 4days. from Niseko we will then go to Noboribetsu - 2 days and then go to Sapporo City - 3 days before flying off to Tokyo for a connecting flight out of Japan. Need advise if it is easier and more efficient to arrange coach transport from Niseko - Noboribetsu - Sapporo given that we have nine adults or we should just rely on the train system? Which is cheaper and more time efficient given that it is winter and the roads maybe laden with snow.
Hello. I will be traveling to Japan on February to catch the Snow Festival in Sapporo. However, my first stop will be in Tokyo, I will be using the 7 days JR pass. Does anyone here knows where and how to ride bullet train in Tokyo to Sapporo? If possible, I would like to ride bullet train at night to save hotel fees and arrive Sapporo in the morning. It doesn't have to be compartments - which will cost me additional payments. A seat is okay for me to sleep in, but the problem is that I do not know if there will be seats available once I arrive at the bullet train. Please advise. Thank you very much.
Hi everyone. I'm desperately need some helps , family decided a last minute trip to Hokkaido yesterday and I'm meeting them in Chitose airport as I will most probably travel two days earlier due to 30 hours connecting flight from England-Amsterdam-Osaka- Sapporo. I need to find a cheap hostel or guest house for a day before I meet my family.Does anyone have any suggestions as where should I stay which won't break my banks and easy to get back to airport. Is it anything to see and do in chitose in a day? How to get to chitose? Informations in airport guide doesn't explain how much to get the bus to downtown . Thanks in advance if anyone could share some ideas and tips.
Me and my husband will visit in May and would like to go Costco Sapporo. However, we don't have membership. Does anyone can introduce a person to bring us in? Or, a method how to shop there without membership?
Hi all, I need advice, I noticed that Hokkaido is famous with seafood, my question is it is possible to buy seafood in New Chitose Airport and bring on the flight as carry-baggage? Since I didn't have much time to stop in other market to buy and I have limited time went I arrived at New Chitose Airport.. Thank You
I'll be staying south of Sapporo near Lake Shikotsu for 2 nights in Dec 2013. We were hoping to be able to visit Sapporo city during our stay here, but we are not sure how long is the road journey gonna take us? we have a rental car to travel around.
Welcome your advice on our best possible option. Cheers
I am going to visit Sapporo during the snow festival and I was wondering what kind of clothes would be required to visit Sapporo. I am from India ( and a hot city from South) and currently live in Tokyo and I was planning to get a couple of Uniqlo Ultra Light Down for this Winter.( Its damn light)
But I am not sure whether this will be enough for the Sapporo Climate. I am going to layer myself but still, will it be enough to hold up the heat? Any other recommendations_
Is 7 days too long to spend in Sapporo?
Is it possible to travel by express or regular bus service from Narita airport to Sapporo?
I have lots of free time and would like to see the country side slower than taking a flight or a train.
Thanks in advance for your time...Yoku dekimashita...
We will be visiting Sapporo from a cruise ship.
Is the cruise ship whalf reasonable walking distance from the centre of the city?
What is the 2 main sights/features of Sapporo we should see whilst we are there?
Many thanks for any info.
Hi, I'm hoping to take the Hamanasu night train from Sapporo to Aomori. I understand that I can try to reserve a seat in the Carpet car or Dream car without incurring extra charges if I have a JR Pass. The problem is that we only arrive in Japan about 3 days before this leg of the trip.
Do you know how difficult it is to reserve those types of seats for a Monday night in mid May? Do you think we'll have trouble getting a reserved seat if we only reserve 3 days in advance? If those seats are not available, is it usually easy to get a regular seat?
What are the ways that one can travel to the Sapporo downtown and get around while in Sapporo and then return to the cruise ship dock. What is the most economical and which is the most efficient and what are the costs for each? Are there Tour operators that service the port area?
I'm finalising my plans to attend a conference in Sapporo in September and should only have a day or two afterwards to see anything other than the 'walking tour' of Sapporo the conference is organising midweek.
I would appreciate some advice on whether that is enough to see anything outside of Sapporo? What I can do/see and where I can go on a day trip? Or if I need to get out of Sapporo at all? I heard about the Ainu (?) people? Can I go to where they are on a day trip and does it require an organised trip or can I do it by myself? Will language be a problem since I don't speak Japanese other than the basic greetings!
I should be arriving in Sapporo (CTS) on September 10 at either 10.55am or 4.25pm (depending on which flight I manage to get from NRT) with at least 2 pieces of baggage (a large suitcase and a hand baggage) or with the 3 pieces of baggage I travelled into Canada with (one large suitcase and 2 hand baggage sized smaller pieces).
Though all are on wheels, I have only one pair of hands and can drag only two at a time! ;-) So, I need some form of convenient ground transportation to a hotel in town (which I have yet to select/book).
Appreciate information on all possible options and possible costs. Thank you! :-)
I'm interested in going to the Ainu Kotan Village that's near Lake Akan from Sapporo.
Could you tell me how to do so via train or bus.
If there's a website that includes schedules and prices, please let me know.
