I am visiting San Francisco for a short period from India. My wife, 4yr old son and I are planning a road trip from SFO to San Diego through PCH1 and return via death valley to Yosemite. Any suggestions over the return will be highly appreciated. We will have roughly 2-3 days to travel from San Diego to Yosemite through DV. We can start from Sea-world, SD in the evening around 6 pm as well. Please suggest.
Hi my husband and I and 3 kids aged 7, 9, 11 are doing Disneyland in September. I was thinking of a side visit to San Diego also. We have 7 nights for both - how many nights minimum should I have in San Diego? Also what are best transactions for the kids given their ages? Definitely want to do Sea World but not sure what would be best other options. Also after a well positioned hotel which will cater for a family of 5.
Hello, at Old Town Trolley Tour, what languages do they use? Could you listen to the recorded tour at all? Is it only in English?' Thanks

I want to take my granddaughters (9 & 8) out to lunch in Old Town to celebrate a birthday while we are there in Feb. Where would be a good place?
I am planning on being in San Diego at New Year but I'm a little confused as to which part of the city I should be staying in. I plan on arriving on the 29th and leaving on the 1st. Any idea which part of town might suit?
hello, my girlfriend and I visited Rio de Janeiro last year. while there she came across a beautiful bikini that regrettably she did not buy. it is birthday next month, and I was hoping I could get my hands on one. it was a tropical textured one, and they were being sold at the bottom of the Christ the Redeemer trolley place. any chance anyone can help? thanks!
I just wanted to run past through you my idea for my trip to San Diego next month. I'll spending 4 nights at the US Grant, therefore I was thinking of not renting a car for the first two days, and explore anything I can explore on foot. This is primarily to save the ridiculously expensive parking fee for two nights!
I would then rent a car for the last two days so that I can explore a bit more of what's further afield.
Does it sound sensible?
Friends in the United States, I need your help!! (particularly if you have visited or are familiar with San Diego)
Some of the best people in Japan are coming to San Diego to visit breweries (you may have seen the pictures of their shop in Nagoya) - but I have never visited (I know I know, when I return ... )...
Their plan is to visit the best breweries in the area from 10/1 - 10/8. They would like to stay somewhere convenient and affordable, and will be using public transport.
What is your recommendation for places to stay and stay away from?
which area should i get a hotel in?
Would anyone be able to give some advice? Two 22 year old Irish students are heading for Lucky D's hostel on 8th Ave, San Diego on a Monday night. Our flight is scheduled to arrive in LAX (Terminal 2) at 19.15. We want to get to our hostel in the cheapest way possible, we have already told them we will most likely arrive late at night.
Our plan so far was to get a Fly Away shuttle bus from the airport to Union Station in LA.
If we arrive on time we could get the Amtrak train to Old Town San Diego, the last service leaves at 10.10pm. According to google maps it is about a 10 minute drive from the Old Town train station to our hostel, so we would get a cab. However, this is more expensive than a bus, it costs 74 dollars for 2 tickets, whereas the greyhound bus is under 30 dollars for two tickets! Ideally we would like to get the bus, but are having problems with the greyhound website - we can't figure out which stations in LA/ San Diego the LA to San Diego service serves! As in we're not sure which bus station to catch the bus at in LA, or where it will stop in San Diego.
If getting the bus, we would get a cab from Union Station to the Greyhound bus station in LA. I think the closest one is on East 7th street? And then get the greyhound express bus to San Diego at 11pm. It is hard to tell from the Greyhound website which bus station the service goes to, has anybody taken this route before? Ideally we want to end up at the bus station on 1313 National Ave, San Diego, as this is only a 15 min walk or 5 min cab ride from our hostel.
We have never travelled in America before so are very unfamiliar with the transport system. Any advice would be appreciated regarding which bus stations the Greyhound bus stops at in LA and in San Diego, and how easy/safe getting the bus is. Finally, anybody who has flown to LAX and gotten a Flyaway shuttle bus to Union station - how easy is it to find the Fly Away bus terminal? We are flying to Terminal 2!
Thank you :)
I've just started a job right in the heart of San Diego - 4th and B street (BOA bldg) and hope some clever locals can give me a few ideas on healthy (not-too-pricey) lunch spots for a veggie. Also, cool hiding spots on the tops of buildings or in tucked away plazas to eat a lunch and escape. When I lived in San Francisco and worked downtown I had a whole slew of hiding spots, mostly public open spaces that few people knew about. Anything like that here? Rooftop lounges with a view, perhaps? Thanks!!!
I am 42 traveling to San Diego for 4 days. Could you recommend a hotel/area to stay walking distance from small shops, coffee places, bars and restaurants? I am not looking for clubs but instead for beach time and area to hang out. I love the beach so I am having a hard time to decide if I should stay in San diego downtown or maybe in the beaches around .. Like pacific or mission beach? I do need my good coffee places and bars at night.
And what would you recommend best to visit besides the Balboa park, Coronado and the zoo..
I'll be coming to San Diego late in March and I was wondering if anyone had any interesting and fun date ideas? I'm pretty open to suggestions but anything slightly unusual would be welcome too! Thank you.
We are staying in San diego for a few days and will be going to Coronado tomorrow. It will not be warm enough for any beach activities so we are looking for things to do. I have heard to go see admirals row. Can you tell me where that is?
Any help and suggestions you can give would be appreciated.
We are a family of 4 with tween daughters. We are looking for an ocean front suite for June for 4 nights. For price consideration and location, I have researched the pacific Terrace resort and Ocean park inn. Anyone have comments which one is better for us or if we should go somewhere else?

My wife and I will be in San Diego the second week of December. We plan on spending some time at the beach but probably not in the water much if at all. I'm assuming it will be warm enough. Do we need to pack a blanket or something to lay on? Can you recommend any beaches.
My family (kids are 4, 1) is going to be spending about 3 weeks in San Diego from end of Nov into Dec. We'll be staying in Mission Beach.
Would love suggestions for:
- great family-friendly restaurants (we love seafood, Mexican, Italian... almost anything!) - nothing to high-end fancy ;)
- attractions (we'll hit the Zoo & Safari Park, prob a day trip up to Knott's Berry Farm or Disneyland) - are there additional "off-the beaten path" kind of attractions that locals would recommend in/around the area? i.e. We would love to take our kids to a local fruit orchard.
- speaking of Knott's Berry Farm or Disneyland - for our kids' ages, we thought with short attention spans/naps, that they would prob have just as much fun at Knott's and with it being less expensive... it might be better suited? thoughts?
- shopping - if I can sneak away from the family, I'd love to hit up some great vintage/thrift stores, flea markets, fabric/sewing stores.
- farmer's markets - are any "better" than the next?
- transportation - we're renting a car. is parking/getting around fairly easy?
Any suggestions/ideas are welcome! Our trip is coming up fast and we can't wait for our kids to get to experience it!
My son and his lady are relocating to San Diego for work and need to be there in 2 weeks. They love the Hillcrest/Bankers Hill/North Park areas and could use a local agent there who really knows the available rentals there and can assist. Either paid through them or the landlord - they know this is a service of value!
I know there are services for doing this with automotive purchases - surely there is a service for an agent who can know and show ALL the rentals, not just the ones in their firm. Any tips, suggestions?
Going to So Cal for a week with my wife for our anniversary. San Diego, santa Monica and Hollywood what should we wear for November for dinners and local clubs for drinks? She will be asking soon what should I pack? Help please?
Im looking for a rental property in or around san diego
I was thinking of an over 55 community property like they have in Florida
I have $1800 for a months rent
Is it a good idea to do a separate safari when visiting the zoo safari park? Thanks
I am so confused. We want to go to the beach in San Diego in a few weeks. I know, a lot is already taken. I had thought that Ocean Beach would be good, but I think that Mission or Pacific Beach might be better since we want to swim, boogie board, etc, and I keep reading that OB has a riptide and seaweed issue. We also like to people watch, eat at taco type joints, etc. It's just my husband, me, and our 15-year old son. We would like to stay in a hotel close to the beach - that we can reach by bike or walking. We don't mind walking a mile or so, but would like it to be a somewhat pleasant walk. Would one of the Mission Bay hotels be okay for our purposes? There's a few still available and the prices aren't too horrendous - $250+. Thanks for any help.
We will be travelling to Coronado on Saturday. What is the situation with the fires out there?
