    • Family Vacation Help

      Spain Nov 24, 2016 at 10:32 PM

      Hi, everyone,

I'm hoping to get a little help with a possible vacation to Spain this coming summer for two or three weeks. I'm pretty lost so far in terms of cities, neighborhoods, etc. It would be my husband, our kids (6 and 4), and me. In an ideal world, I'd love a trip that:

-allows us to spend time with locals (I have read that kids often play outside until late at night, and I'd love my kids to experience that, especially since my son goes to a Spanish immersion school)
-is close to the beach for at least part of the trip
-does not require renting a car
      -is close to kid-friendly activities

If you have any advice for me (the more specific, the better!), I'd greatly appreciate it!!

      Thanks!

    • Best place to stop for a night between San Sebastian & Granada?

      Spain Nov 13, 2016 at 8:26 AM

      Hello,

I will be driving from San Sebastian to Granada at the end of June and would like to stop somewhat half way. It looks like Madrid is about half way, but I have never been there so I don't know what driving there is like. Can you recommend a place maybe just outside that city that would still make it easy to get into with public transportation or maybe another city that would be worth visiting for a day?

We will also be going to Valencia for about a week in early June. Any recommendations for good neighborhoods to stay in? We will have our small dog, and love to be able to walk to markets and restaurants. Not really big nightlife people,

      Thanks so much!

I did get most info from previously posted Qs here, very helpful, as always. Still need you to specify - one post stated that BUS is cheaper, more scenic and easy to get to the center. Sounds very good, but please tell me - from what station in Madrid do I take bus to Salamanca? What Metro station is the closest? How LONG is bus ride vs AVE train and REGULAR TRAIN?? Please compare prices for bus, AVE, and regular train. From what RAILROAD station in Madrid do I go to Salamanca? Thank you very much.

by Travel2012 Online Now Mar 12, 2012 at 6:34 PM

I plan to travel to Salamanca from Madrid, hopefully by train. Do you suggest that I purchase the train ticket in advance or can I just purchase it at the station? Also, where can I find a train schedule (departures from Madrid to Salamanca and vice versa for the return)?

I am a US citizen; I have read that the Reenfe.es site is a mess (not what it appears to be), so it was recommended that I book my ticket online at rail europe. Again, I would rather just buy my ticket at the station, if I can ??

Also, not sure if the train runs a regular schedule on Sundays, as that is my return (from Salamanca back to Madrid). If not the train, then should I review bus options for the return?

      hello everybody!
this summer we are planning to go to Spain and Portugal. The problem is that we have to be at the place named Celorico da Beira, and we have to reach it necessarily from Spain. so we think to see Madrid in the first place, then Salamanca and from there to go to Celorico da Beira, coz from the map we saw that there is a high road to the place we need.
my question is if there is a bus or train which ll be able to bring us from Salamanca to Celorico da Beira? and how much time will it take?
thank you! I appreciate all of ur advice.

I would prefer to cook my own food and have my own room, and for cheaper! ?Es posible, no?
