On a recent trip via Reading, we walked to the Abbey ruins and saw beautiful and haunting sculptures nearby of faces within orbs. What are they? What artist? Meaning? A memorial? Connected to ruins in any way?

    • beelte and wedge restuarant moulsford

by Lindamd Online Now Mar 18, 2008 at 8:49 AM

has anyone eaten here recently? We have been many times in the past but not for several years. I wanted to take my husband there for his 50th birthday in april but the only review I could find on the net was from last november and it was dire! I don't wnat to book a special night out if it has gone downhill, but the setting is lovely ,we will be mooring outside for the night if we go, and we have fond memories of the place. Any restuarant can have a bad night but I would apppreciate some recent review of the place. Many thanks Linda

    • Monk at Abbey Ruins, Reading

by Jenniferkent2 Online Now Jul 27, 2007 at 2:10 AM

The monk was placed in the Abbey Ruins back in 1988 on the London road side of the ruins. In the picture on your website, the Monk is in a different place.
Can you please tell me when the Monk was moved, and why?
(I have pictures of when it was placed there and know the wife of one of the original workers who placed him there).

      Hi everybody.

Do you know if there is any way to save some money buying a weekly ticket or a railcard? I'll need to travel everyday from London Paddington to Reading, and the fare, 12.40£ for a single ticket, isn't cheap...

      Thanks a lot!
