Traveling to Cancun from Chicago with 4 month old baby- First trip with baby!

      Cancún Yesterday

      Hi,

My husband and I will be traveling for the first time with our 4 month old baby. We have been to Cancun before, however, never with a baby! Can you please let me know what things I should be taking with or any tips.. I am nursing the baby, We will be staying at the all inclusive Royalton Riviera Resort.

      1) I am planning on taking a stroller and carseat and baby carrier

      2) Suncreen?? I hear I can't put it on a baby - any tricks besides not taking her out until later afternoon/evening.

      3) Swim suit and flotie???or swim diaper- I was thinking about having her in a flotie with us supervising.

       4) I am assuming we can't really do any excursions or activities?

      5) any tips?

      Cancún Jan 4, 2017 at 8:47 PM

I've done so much research and now I turn to the experts---We want to zip line, ATV, snorkel, cenotes, raft in caves with stalactites and stalagmites. It seems like X-plor has all of this. We love nature. We don't care about tours with food or shows. We also want to swim with dolphins.
If we do xplor, do we also need to do xcarat? Xelha? What combo tour should we do with xplor?
We want to snorkel in isla-mujeres. Where can we do that? Where can we rent a golf cart there? What private beach is a must in cancun or isla-mujeres? What is unique to do at night? Thank you in advance!

      Rosarito Dec 26, 2016 at 8:35 AM

How safe is it to drive to roserato from San Diego? I have a 2007 Ford Focus. It would just be my husband and I we are 65 year old. I have read some travel warnings that imply it's possible to get pulled over at road stops with impersonators that rob you. I just wanted to take a day trip to rosarito and Puerto Nuevo for lobster and come home.
I was also thinking of riding into Tijuana, but we are a little scared we could be star get because we are older. Please advise.

      Which phone?-stealing

      Mexico Dec 27, 2016 at 2:03 AM

I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question. Is it safe to take my mobile with me to Mexico? I know that the word "safe" will have everyone jumping. I do actually have two phones- an old Galaxy S3 which is slow and annoying and a new LG which is fast. I am considering travelling with the old one because if it's stolen it's less of a loss, however if I need to use my phone a lot obviously the new one is way more convenient. What are the chances of my new LG getting stolen, or worse, me being held up at gunpoint somewhere...(We are travelling around for 6 weeks, from Yucatan down through Chiapas and up to Mex City)

      Thanks in advance.

What is the best area for an active, 50-year old hetero couple to stay in for our first trip to PV? We want something ON the beach preferably. Someplace nice, but not more than $200/night. Going in early May. We like to party, relax, swim, adventure, people watch, eat good food, and walk to destinations wherever possible. Thanks!

      Weekend Getaway in PV

by Usctwin Online Now Nov 7, 2016 at 11:50 AM

Hi VTers! My husband and I are going on a quick weekend trip to PV this weekend. I'm usually so ahead in my planning, but haven't had time to do a single thing yet. I had a few questions I was hoping you might be able to help with.

      1. What is the best way to get from the airport to the hotel? I have contacted the hotel to see if they can arrange transportation and am waiting to hear back from them. Is taking a taxi safe? I saw this tip from 2012 and was wondering if it was still valid. Taxi FROM the Airport: Taxis Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Tip - VirtualTourist Was also wondering if we should just go ahead and hire our own car.

      2. Is there a good place to exchange money? Or should we do it in the states before we leave?

      3. If there was 1 activity you could recommend we don't miss, what would it be?

      4. If there was 1 restaurant you recommend we don's miss, what would it be?

Again, our trip is short, we arrive on Friday afternoon and leave Monday afternoon so we will probably just be relaxing most of the time. We haven't had a real vacation without our child in 5 years!

We like the beach, we like to snorkel, we like to learn about the local culture, listen to live music, and love to eat Mexican food! Thank you for any suggestions!

bird dive-bombing for fish in bay of banderas, close to los muerto beach

by susiemargare Online Now Jun 19, 2015 at 9:05 PM

      hi, all --

i can't figure out what kind of bird it is that we saw in PV last week. it glides, has a fairly large wingspan, is dark in color, then all of a sudden folds its wings closed and dives straight vertically into the water.

the closest i've found by scouring the internet is a neotropic cormorant, but i can't find any pictures of it diving.

      help!

We will be visiting again this year but this time need an extra twin bed. I thought a decent inflatable might work out well but figure Costco probably would only carry a queen bed as it does at home. Does anyone know of any stores that might sell these that I can contact and preorder for pickup? We will again be staying in Zona Romantica just south of the river.

I'm traveling to PV with a couple of friends in two weeks and we're having a really hard time figuring out which AI resorts or just hotels in general will cater more to young single people rather than families or older couples. The only two places we came up with that were reasonable were the Golden Crown and one other one. After looking at the pictures and videos it seems like its almost all older couples or older singles.

Why are there no longer tours to Talpa de Allende?

by briantravelman Online Now Jul 18, 2014 at 7:25 PM

I was looking at tours to Talpa de Allende, and the website says the tour is temporarly unavailiable. It says it is unavailiable during the rainy season, mid June-October. Though I checked the tour once in April, and it said the same thing. Than I went out of curiosity, to see if it would let me book for a date when it's availiable, and it didn't. It's telling me to choose another tour. And there are other tours that are also seasonal, but it lets me go on them no problem.
Why are there no longer tours to Talpa de Allende? Is it because of safety issues, or is the road out? Does anyone know?
I read reviews of this tour, and people said it was great, so IDK why it suddently got cancelled.
