      Gnome statuary flipping the bird

      Brugge Jul 2, 2016 at 9:25 AM

Where can we find garden statuaries of gnomes giving the finger? My husband saw them while we were on the City Tour bus, but failed to get the store name nor street name, nor get me aware so I may have paid attention.

      Flemish Stew

      Brugge May 10, 2016 at 2:02 AM

      Hey friends.

So, we really enjoy tasting local food traditions when traveling, and I guess we cannot skip the Flemish Stew in Brugge!
Do you know of a place with a really nice stew and not that expensive?

Already seen some, like the Cambrinus, the Habit or the De Vlaamsche Pot, but they are a little to expensive for our pockets :)

Thanks for you help, there's nothing like knowing from who already tried it there!

      Portuguese community café

      Brugge May 5, 2016 at 2:28 AM

      Hey there!

On the 15th of May I'll be in Brugge and... It's the last game of my Portuguese team Benfica on the championship.
Do you know of any place where portuguese people gather so I can see the game with them?

I guess that in Brussels this would be much easier, but the 15th is already scheduled for visiting Brugge.

      Thank you, happy travels!

      Distance from pier

      Brugge Mar 28, 2016 at 11:30 PM

We are taking a cruise that goes to Bruges Belgium and trying to decide if it is worth it to take a taxi into Brugge. The taxi wants 100 Euros for 6 passengers round trip. How far is it and is that a reasonable or fair price? Thanks for the info. Traveling Sue

    • Best way to travel without a car across Belgium,Netherlands, Germany and France

      Ieper Feb 23, 2016 at 2:48 PM

I will be undertaking a residency for 5 weeks in Ypres (Lepers) in May 2016. I wish to use local transport to travel , preferably train (mainly weekends). Is it best to buy a ticket at the station for each return trip - given most will be short e.g. Ypres to Ghent, Brussels, Amsterdam or Paris or purchase a Eurail or Benelux train package before I leave Australia.? These appear relatively expensive for limited number of day travel (e.g. up to nine days for a month). My travel will mainly be day trips and return to Ypres. Thanks Kevin

Small charming villages/places/attractions not in guidebooks

      Ieper Feb 2, 2016 at 5:01 PM

I am going to be staying near the French/Belgium border for around a week (near Dranouter), which is within a short drive of Ypres. I am going in May 2016 and will have a car. I have read about the main towns and main attractions in guidebooks/online, but am interested in seeing small charming villages/places/attractions which maybe are a bit more off the beaten track or not mentioned in guidebooks.

I am also interested in shops/places which sell pottery/glassware/handicrafts, etc. but not really finding much info other than visit the main towns.

I have been reading through guidebooks and done google searches, but most info I find is on the big towns only. I appreciate this request for information is a little vague, but would really be grateful for any thoughts be it in north west Belgium or north east France.

Thanks for your help in advance and will definitely write on here after I get back,

    • What to do in Brugge

      Brugge Nov 5, 2015 at 5:27 AM

I am going on a stag do to Brugge, although it is a stag do it will not be the stereotypical stag do that people think about. I was looking for some places to go during the day just to have a couple of beers and then wondering where the best places to drink on an evening and into the night are? I have seen a brewery tour that I am interested in and wondered if anyone has done this and has any feedback for me?

What are the requirements with regards to fishing in and around Leper? I believe that a licence is required, is a permit also required? Is it possible to fish the moat? Where do you get the licence/permit from and are there any fishing tackle shops in Leper?

      Nieuwpoort May 24, 2015 at 11:53 AM

We are 4 friends from South Africa planning to go on a narrow boat trip in Belgium departing from Nieuwpoort for one week. This is in the last week of September '15 and our problem is accommodation at a reasonable/fair/good/affordable price without meals for 2 nights before our departure. We are in our 50's and experienced travelers.
The exchange rate is not favoring us at all and would like to seek help in finding accommodation (bed, shower and kitchen). Any suggestions please?

      Weekend in June

      Brugge Mar 27, 2015 at 10:33 AM

      Hi all
We're going to Brugge for a weekend in June. We are staying right in the centre and would like to enjoy nice Belgium food. Which restaurant would you recommend for traditional food aimed primarily at locals rather than tourists? We usually enjoy cosy little family restaurants or big busy brasseries with wood & shiny brass decor but not clean, sterile 'trendy' places. Please let me know if your recommendation is best for lunch or dinner or indeed both!
      Many thanks!

      Brugge Jan 30, 2015 at 12:50 PM

When in Brugge in the Fall of 2013 I visited two needlework shops & I have lost my contact information for them. Is anyone aware of any needlework shops for cross stitch supplies in Brugge? I remember one of them was run by a wonderful friendly and helpful gentleman who's shop was located just off the square. I'm not sure where the other store was located. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
