I am going to be in Panama from June 13th to June 28th - I am going to be during the day, however my nights are open...
I was wondering what to do or where to go to meet some expats - I would like to find out what it's like to live there, as I am thinking about buying property.
I would really appreciate your input and company - hope to hear back,
My wife is having a BIG birthday next week and I am thinking of taking her to see the Panama Canal as a gift. We would probably go in March, but nothing is settled. I have looked at various cruises, but don't want to spend a lot of time just on a cruise ship, in fact, the less the better. I have looked at one called "The Panama Canal Experience" run by Panama Travel Consultants and it looks pretty good. I would like any suggestions, input, etc. that any of you have for things to see and do, restaurants, etc. Don't tell anyone my wife will be 80 (I am about 5 months younger). I mention our age to let you know that we are not interested in skiing, zip-lines or long hikes. We are both in good mental and physical condition but are not into really heavy physical activities. Thanks for any assistance you can offer.
Any suggestions as what a person can do in Panama City on New Years Eve
What highlights should a person see if they are there for only 2 days prior to cruise
What hotel you recommend? Near bars and shops and subway (metro) station? Should have a good pool. We´re staying 8 nights nex Feb. Thanks for help :)
Can somebody on the ground there comment on the local thoughts and predictions with respect to the El Niño expected and its local impact especially w.r.t. travel/tourism .....I am thinking of a trip late November which should be the tail end of the rainy season? I am ok with rain but just wondering if the El Niño calls for caution?
Is La Chorrera a peaceful and safe place for expats?

I had a stopover in Panama that is looking likely to be a stay for a week due to unforeseen circumstances.
I would like to ask a few questions as this a new country for me :)
1. Are there any recommended places to stay in the city? (like areas), near attractions, Bars.Restaurants?
2. Is it safe enough to walk around alone?
3. How much would travel, food and beverages cost whilst there, so I know how much money to take.
4. I read that they trade in USD, is this the case?
5. Would it be worth visiting beaches by leaving the city for a few days, if so, where are the good beaches at?
6. Any must see attractions or cool things to do?
7. Any places to meet people as a lonely traveller out on a limb... :( (pwaa pwaaa pwaaaa)
Thanks for any suggestions, I appreciate it greatly.
I want to purchase several tshirts from bars and other places in panama city. Its for a friends birthday who lived there but has not been back in years. Ebay just has the country flag or outline, Any help will be appreciated.

I will be in Panama City for about a week and would like to take a Canal cruise.
Also any flights between Panama City and Liberia, Costa Rica?
If not how are the buses?
Any helps and hints would be appreciated.
Can one swim in the nude on one or more of the beaches on Isla Contadora ?
If so, which ones ?
Thanks very much.
I'm going back from Cuba soon through Panama city airport. I'll arrive to Panama on a Tuesday at 6.24PM, and my flight takes off at 11.52PM. Therefore I was wondering if that would leave me enough time to get out of the airport and have a look. I'd love to see the canal and a bit of Panama city, which I heard is beautiful.
Another question: as a French citizen am I required to have a visa or something to get out?
Thank you ;)
Hi looking for a hair salon for keratin treatment in Panama City. Any recommendations? Approximate cost?
Wanting to rent a car at main airport. Want to use my USD gold visa to cover liability. Only want basic coverage. My bank says card will do. Does anyone know the exact rules for Panama car insurance. Nn to know what to expect, speak a little Spanish but don't want to pay USD26 for insurance. Thx.
We are renting a car at the pty airport and driving to the bridge of the Americas. How difficult is that route?
Early next year I would like a change for 2-4 weeks.Instead of beach why not check out a city, say, Panama City, Panama. It seems to have a lot to interest me besides the good weather at that time. How long should I stay ? What might be too long , or too short????????? There are malls, casinos, places of historical interest etc. What area recommended? San Francisco ? Cangrejo or where else? We are 2 active Jubilados and like to explore. What places to stay in ??? All advice very welcome. Patrick
I am going to be traveling on January 2015 to Panama, and I need to get a transfer from Tocumen to Riu Playa Blanca? any suggestion!
I am looking for a simpler and most cost effective way to get to city from International Airport in Panama City.
It seems that taxi cost is $30+
Is there no Shuttle or a bus or something ? I have no appreciable luggage. (Just a cabin bag)
A day stop (14 hrs.) seems to long to sit around at the Airport and near $60 round trip to town sounds to be bit much. Any suggestion would be highly appreciated. Thannks.
I am thinking about traveling to Panama for a few days while in Costa Rica and will fly out of San Jose. Where is a good area to stay for a few days that will give me access for touring the canal and still experience some of the night life?
I may have forgotten my cell phone in a cab, is there a taxi company that I could get ahold of to ask if it was found or is it hopeless?
We will be touring with the Caravan tour company. We will be arriving in the city a few days
earlier than the start of the tour. What would you suggest we see in Panama city itself?
We are going to the Canal and other sites so I do not want to revisit those places.
I had thought about the hop on hop off tour by Viator...have you experience with that group? Or can you suggestion some other places we can visit independently?
Appreciate all suggestions...We do not speak Spanish. Regards, Evelyn
Where can you buy tennis accessories (balls, strings, grips) in quantity? John
My and my fiancé are stating in panama for 3 ngts in October as part of our honeymoon. I've been reading up on panama so much that I'm now confused of where to stay?!! Do we stay in a flashy hotel in the business district or do we stay in Casco viejo with historical surroundings? We want a good location that has bars, restaurants and is close to the main sites ie. the canal, plaza da francia, plaza de Bolivia, etc. Can anyone recommend?
I have been looking around at some booking sites (and on VT) but can't really find what I'm looking for. And I don't really know which area is good to stay in. What about Casco Viejo and Bellavista?
Can anyone recommend a nice budget accommodation in Panama City?
I don't want to stay in a dorm, and I don't want to stay at a party hostel. I prefer not to pay more than $30 for a single room but if it is worth it I can pay a bit more.
Do you have any idea if that is possible? If so - do you know where and when to catch the bus?
Is this still a good, safe place for nude sunbathing? Easy to get to, and any food/drink nearby?
