    • Car hire or organised tour?

      Salta Sep 27, 2016 at 11:26 PM

We (fit older couple) will stay 3 days in Salta March/April 2017 then wish to visit Cafayate, Cachi and Tilura over 7 more days. Would it be better to hire a car or join a tour group to visit these places?

      Practical info

Puerto Iguazú Apr 22, 2016 at 3:53 PM

1.Can you pls tell me where do all people who claim to get so wet during the boat trip in the cataratas change their clothes? Are there any special places?
      2. Are there lockers at the argentinian falls? Wher can someone leave one's bag?
      3. Is the ticket for the falls valid for the whole day, which means one can leave and come later back?
      4. Are the buses often coming and going or is it better to have a car rent and feel free to leave any time?
      Thanks a lot.

It seems there are two or three of them mentioned in different websites eg.Comunidad Guarani Yriapu - Comunidad Indigena Iriapu, or the Mborore Fort. Which one is really worth the visit? Any ifo would be appreciated. Thank you.

bus from puerto iguazu to ciudad del este in paraguay

Puerto Iguazú Apr 21, 2016 at 12:43 PM

Hallo my friends. It seems very difficult to find info about the bus that gets from Puerto Iguazu to Ciudad del Este directly (without having to stop to Brazil borders). Some people who write their experience, report that the name of the bus is "El Practico" with the sign "Ciudad del Este, Directo", and one has to get it from the omnibus terminal. It also seems that once you get to the Argentina borders to get your passport stamped the bus driver is waiting for the passengers but once arriving at the Paraguay borders one must ask the driver to stop and get down with luggage since the bus will not wait for you. Then a taxi to your destination is the next step. Can anybody tell me how acurate all the above is? I guess that the timetable of the bus is impossible to be found online...
      Thanks a lot.

      Combination trip

Puerto Iguazú Mar 20, 2016 at 5:28 PM

Hallo my friends. We are planning a trip from Buenos Aires to Iguazu Falls. But we would like to combine the experience with a visit to the Jesuit missions in Argentina (San Ignacio etc.) and in Paraguay (Jesús de Tavarangüe) and to the capital city of Paraguay, Asuncion. But I'm not sure how to combine them as for the means of transport.
Do you know if renting a car and passing borders in South America is a problem or does everything go smoothly? The two missions are quite close to each other and it's only a matter of boarders. Any advice would be mostly appreciated. Thank you.

    • Transportation options from IGR Airport

Puerto Iguazú Jan 7, 2016 at 1:38 AM

We are a party of 4 arriving IGR airport at 11am to go to Iguazu Jungle Lodge. Can 4 people fit in a taxi? And should we take a minibus, shuttle, taxi or remise at the IGR airport? Which way is more economical for a group of 4?
Do we need to book any in advance or we'll find everything there at the airport when we arrive?
Could you please tell me the approx. taxi cost vs. remise cost from IGR airport to the Lodge one way?
For the return to the airport from the Falls (Argentine side), are taxis easily available outside the Parque? and how much should the taxi cost to IGR?
Do we need to arrange the return to IGR airport to be picked-up in advance ?
Or is there a bus or shuttle at around 5PM that we can take from the Parque to IGR?

    • Posadas - San Ignacio - Puerto Iguazu

San Ignacio Jul 20, 2015 at 10:47 AM

Hola.

      Muchas gracias anticipadas!

I am planning to spend one night on the Brazil side of the falls and three nights on the Argentina side of the falls.

How difficult/costly is it to cross the border from Brazil to Argentina?
Should I find one hotel for my entire stay and go to both sides?

    • Brazil/Argentina trip

Puerto Iguazú Apr 21, 2014 at 7:51 AM

My wife and I are both british citizens. We are travelling to Rio, then planning to travel to Iguazu on our way to Buenos Aires. We would like to visit both sides of the falls, but we're coming from Foz du Iguacu Airport on a Friday and then travelling out from Puerto Iguazu Airport on the Monday (intending a day for each side of the falls). Is it better to stay in a hotel on the Brazilian or Argentinian side (we do not intend to stay at one of the more expensive places near the falls unfortunately). If we have just come from Brazil is it easier to stay there and then travel over just for our day trip to the Argentine side and then our trip to the airport on the Monday, or are we better to cross the border when we arrive on the Friday and nip back into Brazil for the day? We would rather stay in one hotel for the duration.

Is customs a reasonably straight forward job?

Puerto Iguazú Jan 2, 2014 at 8:28 AM

We travelled to Puerto Iguazu from Brazil on 30th of December. We were waiting for the bus to Argentina and a guy came and joined us. Waited together, passed the border, helped each other, chat a little bit. Then at the Argentina office I lost him without saying goodbye or thanks.

So, if you know someoneo traveled from.Rio de Janeiro to a city in Argentina via Foz de Iguaçu and Puerto Iguazu on 30th of December, please say him I am searching for him. Or thank him for me.

Any advices to contact him is welcome btw.

      Thanks folks, in advance.

Planning to be in Iguazu for 2.5 days at the beginning of October, but just discovered that I am not a candidate for yellow fever vaccine and am wondering if reasonable caution (bug repellent, long sleeves/pants) is sufficient or if I must cancel this lap of my trip. Don't want to, but don't want to be frightened all the time either. Are there places within the site to avoid, times of day to stay indoors? Are the hotels "safe"? Grateful for your thoughts.

I am arriving at the brazil airport in the evening, my plan is to

have the day for the argentina side, and in the evening go to the

      - can i do this or is this not enough time to really enjoy it?
      - what i really would like to know is how long the busride is from the
brazil airport to the argentina side. I read 1 hour till 4 hours so i dont know.
      - do the buses go in the evening?

      Thank you!!

On the last day travelling from Puerto Iguazo will I have time to tour falls from Brazilian side and still have time to get catch plane (not sure how long crossing the border takes and I will have to do that twice). Crossing From Argentina Side To Brazilian Side

Puerto Iguazú Jul 21, 2011 at 11:37 AM

My wife & i will be in Iguazu in September,we want to see the Brazilian side of the falls as well so any advice on the easiest way is very much appreciated.

1.How easy is it to catch the bus from Iguazu to the Brazilian falls,is it direct or would we have to catch another bus on the brazilian side?

2.What is the cost of the bus?

3.Do we have to get off at the border & do we need a visa (we are UK citizens)?

4.Would we need Brazilian money for the bus & entrance fee to the falls?

5.Are the buses frequent both ways & well signposted?

6.I have heard mention of using a taxi, what kind of price would this be & are the taxis reliable,do the taxis stay during your day at the falls or do they come back for you at an agreed time?

Any help & advice would be very helpful for us,this is our first visit to Argentina & very much looking forward to the trip.

      Kind Regards,
