I'm planning to go to Philippines in winter and Palawan island sounds like a major spot in the archipelago and I want to go there. Nevertheless I'm wondering more and more if the island by itself is a nice place to enjoy the typical paradise-white-sand-tropical scenery.
Because when you find pictures about Palawan and more precisely about El Nido you have amazing captures of turquoise water days, black limestome, jungle, etc... But when you check on Google Maps (Google Street View, Amateur pictures, etc...) Palawan mainland beaches look a bit disappointing.
I know I can be picky and I've very high standards when it to beaches. Is there any amazing swimming/diving spot in Palawan mailand or should I go on one of the many surrounding islands such as Cadlao, Mantiloc, Miniloc or Tapiutan Islands directly? Are there very frequent boats to go from El Nido to those places?
Thank you in advance
My wife and I are traveling to El Nido on Nov 25 and are hoping to go on an island hopping tour sometime between Nov 26 and Dec 1. We're looking to put together a group to hire a private boat for a 3 - 5 day tour of the islands from El Nido to Coron.
Booking a group can reduce the price significantly! We'll be able to create our own tour but here is a sample of what we could see/do:
Let me know if you're interested!!!
Together with my wife (both 28 years old) we are coming to Palawan to spend a little time there and do some islandhopping tours. There are many public offers, however my dream is to make a private tour, as it is much more exciting and can be just the same price if you form a group.
We are staying in El Nido town until more or less 14th November 2016 and then wanted to take a tour to Coron Town as we have a flight from Busuanga airport on 18th in the morning. We plan making a 3-4 days trip around 14-17 November from El Nido to Coron, visiting Linapacan etc. Price depends on the number of people, but even in two couples it could cost like 5000 PHP per person, so not so much for spending so much time at the sea (bearing in mind ferry El Nido - Coron costs 1800 PHP).
The idea arise from the site islandhoppinginthephilippine... where you can get many information about such private tours (you will see my request there).
If you fancy such tour let's get together and go for adventure!

Hi there I will be travelling to Palawan, Puerto Princesa, next end of February can you please suggest: 1) How many days I should spend in Puerto Princesa and best beaches and hotels or places to stay? 2) We would like spend sometimes in the beaches in the north we heard is the best side: San Vincente, Port Parton and eventually El nido. 3) Can you suggest places/beaches/hotels to stay and is it better and safer to travel by boats instead of cars? Can you advice any travel agent there we can approach to figure out how can we organize tours without getting too stressed? 4) Shall we rent a car and are the road safe? Many thanks Gaby

Hey guys, planned on a trip to pawalan arriving on the 16th of May 2016 for 10 days. I was advised that this is a good time of year to go but the forecast says it's raining and thunderstorms. I'm travelling from the west of Ireland and wanted to escape the rain for some sun, sea and scuba diving. Does anyone have experience/advice about travelling this time of year? :)
Hi There,I am due to fly out in September for 6 months charity work.
I am aware that its the rainy season when I fly out but not sure what to expect, apart from rain obviously.
I'm travelling to Palawan for the 1st time in Oct. going from Puerta Princesa to El Nido and the general thought is its better to book a private van through tour operator for the drive. Any thoughts on this? Is it possible to get a boat from Puerta Princesa to El Nido?
Staying in El Nido for 5 days. Any recommendations on excursions or places to go. Want something memorable as I'm celebrating my birthday.
Travelling back to Puerta Princesa and have a day there, before travelling bk to UK so any recommendations for activities there would be appreciated.
Any idea what weather to expect!

I am interested to hear from recent members who have visited Palawan and travelled upto El Nido from P/Princesa

Is it possible to go to Mantalingajan in October? How can I find guide?
What is the best way to travel from Hong Kong to El Nido? Is it to Manila, then Puerto Princesa City and by bus to El Nido?
And how´s the weather in November?
Hi. We're choosing between Siete Pecados/ Barracuda Lake tour against Calauit Safari Tour. Which tour is more worth our while? We already have arrangements for the other tourist spots which are usually island hopping/swimming activities.
We have bought flight tickets to Manila, leaving Christmas Day and will stay for two weeks. Our plan is to stay two days in Manila and then fly to Puerto Princesa on Palawan.
We have read all previous posts, but still have a couple of questions regarding Palawan and where to stay.
1. We plan to go to El Nida area and stay there. Should we stay in central El Nida to have close to the boats to Bacuit archipelago or should we choose to stay at one of the braches close to El Nido?
2. Which of the beaches close to El Nido is the most beautiful one? Lonely Planet lists Palabayan and Las Cabanas
3. Or should we stay on one of the archipelago islands? We have been recommended Miniloc, but the only hotel we find there to book online is Miniloc Island Resort, which is a bit more expensive than what we have planned to pay. Can someone recommend a hotel for about $120 on Miniloc? Or should we opt for another island?
Thanks from Lena
Ive seen lots of rumors from a few years ago in different forums about a new service from Brooke's Point to Malaysia... yet cannot find anything about it. Anyone that has been around and confirm if this service ever came to exist or when is planning to open?
hi..i will be visiting port barton this april 14-19..any suggestions where to go first? looking also for some adventurous friends to meet there..
I am travelling from El Nido to Coron by outrigger boat. When I arrive in Coron, I have to get from the pier to my hotel, Al Faro Hotel, located in D'Pearl Bay area, which is about 50 minute drive from Coron town. Since I am not arriving in Coron at an exact time, I can't make arrangements for the hotel van to pick me up. Does anyone know if there are cars or vans for hire in the pier area that I can hire on the spot and will take me to that area ?
How much will the bus cost PP->El Nido and vice versa?
Which mode of transportation would you guys suggest for 2 persons?
My wife and I are planning to visit Port Barton in December 2015. I'd like to know if it is a good time to visit ? we are budget travelers looking to scuba dive , free dive and maybe spearfish ( if possible in the area ). would this time of year be suitable for these activities ? thanks!
There are four of us going to Palawan in late April. We will be there for 5 nights and are planning on flying into El Nido and spending all of our time in that area. What are islands and beaches that can't be missed in the Bacuit Archipelago? I think we would like to spend 2 days relaxing on the beaches, and three days exploring a few islands.
Other ideas were to fly into Puerto Princessa and spend the night in Sabang to see the underground river and then head up to El Nido, but I know that one day would be all driving.
Thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated.
