one hour out of Phonenix--place to stay on way to GC

by galefamily Online Now Jan 28, 2007 at 3:49 PM

We are a family of five that want to stay one hour past Phoenix towards the GC in a place that is possibly not so cold and not sold out (hee hee hee)

Any ideas?

What about Cordes Lakes? Is this a possbility? Nice? Family oriented?

There aren't any motels in Cordes Junction, just a couple of gas stations and a Mc Donald's. The closest string of motels to that is in Camp Verde, which is a few miles north. It's much lower in elevation (in a valley) and there are some cheap motels. I know that there's a Days Inn right on the freeway and the casino (Cliff Castle) has a nice hotel in it.
There are also some nicer places in Village of Oak Creek which is a few miles north of the I-17 Sedona exit (State Highway 179), but not quite to Sedona so it's a little cheaper. Also not very high in elevation.
