      Transport in the north

      Argentina Yesterday

We want to explore the following regions in Argentina next year in May: Buenos Aires, Mendoza, Talampaya NP, Salta,Puna, Tolar Grande/Salar Rio Grande/ Antofagasta de la Sierra, esteros del Ibera, Iguazu falls. Most agencies advise us to do a self drive due to the fact that private transport (with driver ) is very expensive. Has anyone done self drives in this region? Is this doable as a foreigner?

      Rent a car

by mile1910 Online Now Sep 5, 2015 at 12:38 PM

Is there a possiility to rent a car for 2 or 3 days and to cross the border with it to go to Puerto Tranquillo (marmol cathedral) ?
I would arrive from Bariloche by bus but don't feel to drive from so far on the ruta 40.
If not possible...should it be possible from Los Antiguos maybe ?
Thanks a lot for the answer. I will be there around the 15th of nov.

If we rent a car and drive to the National Park, can we book a boat trip and min-trek on the glacier ourselves?

I'm visiting Buenos Aires for a wedding and will be there a couple of weeks. I am travelling with my wife and a 1 year old baby and looking for a side trip. We have travelled extensively, but never with a child.

Would Perito Moreno be a side trip that I could do with a young child?

I plan to fly from Buenos Aires and am mostly concerned about avoiding extensive bus or truck rides with the little guy. I'm travelling with a car seat in tow, but assume that outside of the major cities I won't be able to use it?! If the drive isn't too long, a cab is possible an option?!

Any insight into this area would help.

      Thanks,
      Todd.
