      Ait Mansour Gorge

      Morocco Jul 16, 2016 at 9:34 PM

      I can see the reason to go back into this gorge.
      If you have driven it, is it best to turn around at Soud Had Issi (Talat n 'Yssi) or continue on to the right back out to the highway coming from Tafraoute?

      With a four-wheel drive this route is passible? Will be there in early February.

      Thanks

    • Tourist mistake

      Marrakesh Jun 30, 2016 at 7:58 AM

      I recently had a wonderful trip to Morocco and then onto family in England. With eyes wide open and taken up by the intrigue of the experience, I took the offer of a friendly taxi driver, Mustaph, who offered to give me a quick tour of Casablanca which ended in a carpet cooperative (next to a herbal shop) in the souq. This was on 27th April. I was taken up in the experience and purchased two carpets, a cost of MAD7000, which I was told would be shipped to my door in South Africa. I returned to South Africa on the 23rd June and the carpets still haven't arrived. On investigation, my credit card entry for the purchase is La Maison Arabe Hotel which I didn't visit. Unfortunately I didn't get any details of the cooperative or which courier company they would use. I wonder if any body can offer any suggestions of further avenues I can explore before I have to write this off as a wonderful and expensive experience. I am fully aware of my own stupidity in this whole interaction. Regards Pam

      Best direction for travel?

      Morocco Jun 29, 2016 at 2:20 PM

      I will be in Fes for 3 days. Then I have 4 days in which I would like to see both Tangier (& nearby) and Marrakech, and return to Casablanca for a flight. What is my best bet? To go to Tangier first? or Marrakech first? By bus or train?

    • About agressive people (??) in Mhamid

      by Mamaluc Online Now Mar 22, 2016 at 9:44 AM

      Hi all.
      I'm going to Morocco for the second time in April.
      Doing some research about visiting The Draa region and trekking in Erg Chegaga, I run into three people from different places who have warned me that people in Mhamid are agressive.
      I could ignore one of them since she's running a riad in Tamegroute and is obviously interested in keeping me there.
      But another one is an acquaintance who is original from Ouarzazate and runs a riad in Marrakech where I'm staying at the end of the trip, and the other is a tour guide I consider reliable. Both say about 30% of people there are agressive and recommended me to hire a local guide.
      Does anyone know why Mhamid people would be agressive while inhabitants in the near Oulay Edriss are not? I mean, traveling alone, is there in that region anything different from the rest of Morocco I have to consider in terms of safety ?? Of course I'm not planning to approach the frontier or crossing the desert alone. I'm talking about going alone and visiting the town and taking a grand taxi, that sort of things.

      Thanks for any comments.

      Ouarzazate - Demnate (R307)

      by thenorbeast Online Now Jan 11, 2014 at 3:04 AM

      We'd like to cross the Atlas from Ouarzazate to Demnate via R307 road with a small car (so no 4X4 or similar) I just checked some pictures and I found some where I haven't seem any asphalt. So around 10/March do you think is it doable with a small car? And if so, how long should I count for the trip. I am a good driver so that shouldn't make a problem.
      Thank you!

      Bus times from Ouarzazate to Marrakesh

      by mockle Online Now Nov 2, 2008 at 6:54 AM

      hello all

      I hope someone knows the answer to my question.

      My partner and I are travelling late December (the week before Christmas) to Morocco.

      Our itinerary is to set off from Marrakesh by bus to Ouarzazate and then hire a car to travel from Ouarzazate to the Draa valley, Dades gorge etc.

      We have travelled to Morocco several times before but never in that region. I am aware that Supratours run to Ouarzazate from Marrakesh as do CTM.

      I have the time details for leaving but I really need to time travel details for setting back off from Ouarzazate to Marrakesh. I need those details in order to pre-book the car hire, most car hire companies require a time of pick up which I cannot give at the moment.

      These are the details that I have for the outward journey, but I need the return times.

      CTM :: leaves 11am – arrives 3pm or leaves 4pm and arrives at 8.30pm (2 journeys a day)

      Supratours :: leaves 2pm – arrives 8pm

      Notice how Supratours take a lot longer to get there...

      Many thanks for all your input, I realise that this is a frequently asked question.

      I am traveling to Morocco in March. I will first be in Marrakech, then plan to travel to Ouarzazate, then Fes, then back to Marrakech. Can anyone give advice on the best way to travel between the cities? Particularly for the long distances like Ouarzazate to Fes? It is my understanding that hiring a chauffeur will be very expensive, and I don't feel comfortable renting a car and driving myself.
