    • travel from Suvarnabhumi airport to Pattaya

Probably the most important information and I forgot to ask.

I will land at the airport on October 6th at 0430, i'm expected to pass through the custom around 0515, may be earlier or later, what is the mode of transport to Pattaya you would suggest and why, if possible the cost involve, or if you can suggest a alternative route.

wait to 0600 for skytrain and transfer to BTS for Ekkamai for the bus terminal or

get a direct taxi to pattaya or

get a taxi to Ekkamai for the bus terminal.

I am planning a trip around 22 Nov this year to Krabi. Then I wish to travel to Phuket by bus. I presume Phang Nga Bay is midway between Krabi and Phuket. Is it possible to take a morning bus from Krabi and stop at Phang Nga Bay. Finish visit to James Bond Island and then take later bus to Phuket.

Also last week of November, there will be no rains or cyclones in that area.

On August 1st I will start an internship at a hotel in Chaweng beach. I would like to rent a small apartment for one year. I will not be earning a lot of money, therefore it should be something affordable. Could anyone recommend any agents which can rent out local apartmets?
On Google I can only find holiday apartments, which are usually more expensive and they don't have a kitchen. It should preferably be at or not far from Chaweng.

Bangkok weather in March, April or May?

      Bangkok Jul 21, 2016 at 7:44 AM

Hi, due to a restrictive calendar, the only time we're able to visit Bangkok is during the high humidity/heat months of March, April, or May. :-/ Could you give me some tips on how those of you who have traveled there at this time coped with the humidity? Itinerary suggestions for early AM and PMs. We're looking at hotels along the river to access the water taxis to sites, etc. I'm coming from Arizona which reaches 119 degrees at times in the summer and is steady over 110 for weeks on end but; thankfully, it's a dry heat! We're looking to visit the usual sites within Bangkok, relax a bit/soak in the culture, and visit Angkor Wat, Cambodia for a few days, as well. Thank you, fellow travelers!

    • using a baht bus to travel around pattaya as guide

      Pattaya Jul 21, 2016 at 9:50 AM

what is the possiblity of waving a baht bus in pattaya and using it as a half to full days guide to take you around places.
If this is possible, what will the cost be, or will anything from 2000THB to 3000THB be enough, I will also cover the cost of food and other minor cost for the driver.

these are the places to visit, if I can fit it within a day.

      crocodile farm
      underwater world
      four season floating market.

also If I want to visit the Nong Nooch Tropical Garden & Cultural Village in another day, how much will this normally cost with a baht bus, or will it be cheaper to go by taxi or a motorbike taxi.

      I am opened to suggestions.

      Thanks

    • One or two days in Sukhothai? (Thailand trip March 19th to April 3)

      Sukhothai Mar 13, 2016 at 7:59 AM

Hello. Have received such good advice from here. My trip is getting closer. Briefly, repeating my trip plan. I arrive on Mar 19 in BKK. Checking out of BKK on 23. Had plans to stay one day in Sukhothai before heading to Chiang Mai. In Chiang Mai from 24th and checking out on 29th. After this I had plans to do couple of days at beach and one day in BKK before flying back.

Is one day enough in Sukhothai? Basically part of the day on 23 and part on 24th. Or should I adjust and take one day out of Chiang Mai as I have allocated 5 days in CM.

As always, any other recommendations on adjustments to my plan would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone in advance!

    • How best to explore Chiang Mai surroundings - tours or on own?

Chiang Mai Mar 7, 2016 at 9:24 AM

Hello. Ok, in Bangkok, I decided to take mostly tour rather than on my own. With limited number of days, I thought that is the best option in Bangkok. But in Chiang Mai, i wonder if tours is still the best option. I do would like to do one day at some tribal village hopefully combined with biking. I have seen some biking tours that include one day stay somewhere. But when it comes to local Chiang Mai, am I better of to go to the main sites on my own? This is my first trip to this part of the world. Would appreciate some advice or pointers. I will be there from March 24th to 28 or 29. Thank you in advance.

    • Visa run to Loas question! (Kind of urgent :) )

Chiang Mai Dec 22, 2015 at 10:36 PM

      Hey there guys,

I wondered if you could help give me some clarity around a visa run I am doing tomorrow from Chiang Mai to Loas.

I have a triple entry visa and am just about up on my first 60 days, and am wondering if I need to just over to the border to Laos, get a Laos's VOA then just head straight back to get my second 60 days activated, or do I need to go to the Thai Consulate in Vientiane to activate it? I am asking because I can only seem to find posts about visa runs made from Chiang Mai to Vientiane when people are applying for a fresh new visa there (e.g are applying for a new single entry, double entry tourist visa etc)

Any clarity around whether I need to go the Consulate or not would be greatly appreciated.

      Many thanks!

Chiang Mai Oct 28, 2015 at 6:16 AM

Hi again - I am in Nong Khai struggling to decide if I should just amble over to Laos - thus wasting the last three weeks of my visa exemption - or to travel more in Thailand before going to laos. I would head north, centering in Chiang Mai because that is the easiest for me (no car, luggage) - What would be reasonable options for an older person with luggage? Not the boat! I have seen videos of that! Is there some kind of bus? Or a minivan that can take luggage? Etc whatever? Is it feasible for a non back packer? Thanks, Jean

    • Are the no shoes requirements strict in ALL Chiang Mai temples?

Chiang Mai Jul 12, 2015 at 4:00 AM

Have polio and wear a knee to foot orthotic. Can remove it at home on dead level carpeted floors, but the slightest uneven surface (even the garden), brings about falls and great difficulty walking. Not so good at over 60. Am wondering if there are any temples in Chiang Mai who relax the strict no shoes rule for the disabled? For instance, was overwhelmed in India, where often accommodation was made for disability by squares of white cotton cloths being produced to wrap and tie around the shoes if unable to remove them.

      What to do - Recommendations!

Chiang Mai Jul 11, 2015 at 2:51 AM

We have 3.5 days in Chiang Mai between Krabi and Phuket - what do you suggest for things to do?

I really want to do an elephant sanctuary (ethical, non mahout type) and have another post for this as the one I wanted to do is fully booked.

Other than this we are obviously going to do the night markets - any suggestions on how and where to go as I know nothing other than there's night markets to visit!

I have read a little about some water falls - this seems interesting but we cannot do too much physical activity. We did Tiger Temple yesterday in Krabi and I only made it half way. I am in the middle of my weight loss journey and have lost 5.5 stone but still not physically fit enough for major activities - but I'm 100 times better that I was at the start so I'm OK with this! If we could swim near water falls etc, this would be great - we have 2 teenage boys with us!

I have heard mixed reviews on the hill tribe, some say very good, others say way too commercialised?
We like Temples etc but we are doing Bangkok and Ayutthaya so many suggest that this will be more than enough temples!

Anyway, any other suggestions would be good!

      Hotel Suggestions

Chiang Mai Jun 29, 2015 at 10:01 AM

Hi, I have over spent on the beach resorts we are staying at, so I now need to look at cheaper hotels in Chiang Mai - just wondering if anyone can suggest any little gems that I may not know of or may not show on normal search engines?

There's 4 of us - 2 adults and 2 x 16 year olds who can share 1 room as long as enough beds or 2 rooms is fine.
I need clean, central, own bathroom, must have air con and Wifi is kinda important but not the end of the world if not actually in the room.

Thanking you in advance for any suggestions.
