      Hi all,

      Here's my problem.
I applied on the 2nd of October for an eVisitor visa class 651 to Australia, after have spent a year there through a WHV (which expired the 28th of September).
I've been waiting over two weeks so far for a process which seems smouth and quick.. I'd like to know if there is any way to accelerate it cause it started to be way more expensive than expected.
Indeed I had to buy a flight back to Cairns when I left there on the 25th of September. This flight was on the 14th of October so I've already pushed it away once to this 21st. Moreover being now in Indonesia, my visa here will expired soon and I would have to pay to extend it if I still don't receive any answer..
I've email few times the office in charge of the application, asked if there were any issues or unexpected delays, no answers.
I've called the department in Hobart and have been told that they can't help me.
I've check heaps of website and posts without finding any real solution for this problem..
I would be so grateful if anyone can help me out with this and give me a solution. For example a successful way to contact them, a try to apply for an other evistor visa, anything actually.
I start to be really worried and frustrated about that, and don't want to have to extend my stay in Indonesia or have to pay more to change my flight.

      Thanks guys !

    • Great Barrier Reef - base location

      Cairns Oct 18, 2016 at 1:50 AM

Hi - I'm travelling to Cairns for 5 days in the last week of December. This is the last leg of my holiday in Australia and we will be returning to London from Cairns. We are family of 3 with a 11 year old. We are interested in snorkelling and scuba diving in the outer reef and may be some watersports. Not keen on rainforest etc. I'm struggling to find a good base for the GBR exploration. Do I stay in Cairns and take one of the tours (will make it easier flight-wise) or do I stay in one of the beach resorts? Budget isn't a big consideration and a luxury option would be just fine. Many thanks for your help.

I am very interested in snorkeling (not scuba diving) the Great Barrier Reef. So far, I know the better time of the year would be between May and October. Does anyone know, specifically, when the best month to visit is? I'm concerned if there is any particular time when it's more dangerous such as more sharks are in the area because the water temperature changes. Thanks for your help!

New Years Eve Hotel/Home/AirBnB viewing vantage point recommendations

      Sydney Sep 28, 2016 at 9:22 PM

I'll be with 4 other American adults the week prior to and a few days after New Years in Sydney and there primarily for the New Years celebration.

We are most interested in ideas for viewing the fireworks---preferably from a balcony of a high rise hotel, condominium or home. I would be happy to spend the week outside the CBD or Sydney proper except for New Years Eve where I would not mind splurging on a prime viewing accomodation for one or two nights.

Any suggestions outside the ordinary would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    • Driving from Perth in February

by MalH Online Now May 23, 2012 at 2:29 AM

We are planning an overland trip to MM in February, starting out from Perth. Considered renting a motorhome but don't like the inflexibility of mobility, i.e. need to strike camp every day.

So, assuming we rent a car, can anyone advise regarding the availability of motels/camp site cabins on the journey and at MM? Will it be necessary to pre-book or can we expect to find accomm on spec?

We can allow up to 2 weeks for the trip.

Getting to Monkey Mia from Overlander Roadhouse

by DarkRay Online Now May 4, 2007 at 4:08 PM

Hi, I am a little confused here. Greyhound's schedule is such that GX661 will reach Overlander Roadhouse at 1955. However, the connecting shuttle to Monkey Mia only arrives at 7am the next morning. Are there any amenities around Overland Roadhouse such as accomodation and eateries? Are there anything to do over there and is it near a town?

      Thanks in advance! :-)
