1.Easiest way to get to Naples from Rome 2. Hotels in Island of Ischia

      Naples Jan 8, 2017 at 3:01 PM

      Dear local experts:
I am traveling from Los Angeles CA, will land in Rome. 1. What is the quickest and easiest way to get from Rome to Naples. Please give me specific links, your personal experience, etc.
I will stay a couple of days in Naples. I want to book a hotel on the island of Ischia and also want to spend at least one entire day in Prochida. I understand that the same ferry that runs from Naples stops on both islands - Prochida and ischia. How much is a ticket (average)?
      2. What hotel on Ischia is NICE, having a good THERMAL pool, a spa facility (sauna, jakuzzi), near beaches AND up to 150 US dollars a night? (hope it exists :-)
      Thank you all. Best,
      Gelena

    • Summer holiday

      Italy Jan 11, 2017 at 3:13 AM

Sorry to hear this site is shutting down.

I had an incredible summer honeymoon in Switzerland thanks entirely to commenters on this forum. I'm really grateful.

This question is very broad but I thought I might get lucky again!

Hoping for a may/June family holiday this year.
Traveling with a three year old and a one year old.
Beach, hotel, pools, nature, good food, a little old town within walking distance.
We really want it to be child friendly with food and drink readily available but not too big a complex.
We'd love to visit Italy, also considering Greece and France, I'll post over there too.

Many thanks if you have any thoughts!
      Emma

    • Which resort to stay at Lake Garda?

Lago di Garda Jan 5, 2017 at 1:52 AM

Hello, what a great website. Hope someone can help with this. Me and my partner are hoping to go to Lake Garda in the summer but we are unsure as to which resort to base ourselves at. We are both 40 and although we are definitely beyond wanting a Club 18/30 type holiday we still want a nice lively resort that has a nice nightlife until fairly late at night. Last year we went to Sorrento and this was absolutely fantastic, lots of open-air restaurants, bars and even traditional music and singing in the streets at night, this was just perfect, so we wondered if any Lake Garda resort offered something similar? I was maybe thinking of Sirmione or Garda as a base as those would both be easier for us to get to, but I have no idea what the nightlife would be like. Hope someone can help? Thanks, Sarah.

    • Good food and wine

      Venice Dec 20, 2016 at 2:00 PM

Hi, we will be spending 7 days in venice, including New Years Eve. We want to make sure that we sample great food and wine during our trip, as this is our passion. It doesn't have to be high end but it does have to be high quality. We are wanting to kick back and have a (relatively) stress free and memorable time. We are staying in a centrally based apartment so are happy to cook, but would much prefer to eat out - especially in less touristy (yes, I know - Venice is a tourist destination...) areas. All tips gratefully recieved.

    • Genova or Perugia?

      Italy Dec 18, 2016 at 2:10 AM

Hi! I'm going to spend a month in Italy (July) and I have to choose between Genova and Perugia. I think, Perugia offers more opportunities for excursions (Roma, Firenze, Pisa) but...does it have a good social life (museums, buildings and nightlife) ? On the other hand, Genova is close only to Milan but has a lot of things to do. What do you tihnk?

And of course...which city is more expensive?

      Thanks a lot!

    • Travelling from San Felice Del Molise to Sorrento

      Campobasso Apr 8, 2014 at 8:19 AM

Hi we are looking at a few options in traveling from San Felice Del Molise to Sorrento on the 14th July 2014. We can catch the bus from San Felice to Campobasso and then either Bus or train to Sorrento. There are 5 passengers, so we are possibly looking at hiring a private taxi either from San Felice or Campobasso. Can you please suggest any local taxi services.

      Thanks

      Family from Agnone

      Molise Aug 23, 2006 at 4:15 PM

If anyone has been to Agnone, can you give me some travel tips?
My friend and I will be on a quest to visit Agnone. From where my ancestors came. Reading the other postings, I have learned the best way to get there would be train from Rome to Isernia, then continue to Agnone by bus.

This quest has been stirring inside me for some time now. My Grandmother Genoveffa Cacciavillani Cerimele daughter of Guiseppi Cerimele and Carmella Cacciavillani came from Agnone. I know for sure - found her birth certificate on microfilm. This is so exciting to me. It is truly a blessing to find this information and visit the area of my roots.

    • Seeing grandmother's home town, house, and family.

      Molise May 12, 2006 at 7:01 PM

With my family of 5, I will travel to Italy on very short notice:
      (1) fly from Philadelphia to Rome (for the 1st time), stay a few days to a week (somewhere?),
      (2) take a train to Sessano (somehow?) because that's my grandmother's home town and house and some family is,
      (3) stay a couple of days in Isernia because that may be where the nearest hotel is (I think?),
      (4) take a train to Ancona (somehow?), maybe stay a day or so,
      (5) take a boat (ferry?) to Croatia because that's where my husband is from and we will visit his mom and family.

If anyone can offer any help in any of these itineraty items 1-5, then it would be greatly appreciated.

      Molise Oct 20, 2004 at 1:02 PM

I am surprising my wife with a trip to Italy this winter. We'll be making a few stops but I want to head from Rome down to Agnone in Isernia for a few days. My grandfather Pasquale Pallotta was born there. My brother thought a superstratta/freeway had been finished there recently but I can't find if that is the case. What is the best way to get From Rome to Agnone? Also, does anyone know a good place to stay in or near Agnone? Thank you so much. P.S. If anyone knows any Pallottas in or near Agnone, please let me know. Thank you again.

Ascoli Piceno - Hotel B&B Suggestions??

      Molise Mar 13, 2003 at 9:24 AM

Hi all, Have tried for three weeks, through phone calls and faxes, to book a place in AP. I have been corresponding with the tourist office there, they are nice enough but made it clear I should book hotels directly. The problem is no hotel has answered any email or fax, and I have sent three faxes to each place, with zero response. I have them in perfect italian so I know it isn't a language problem, and the faxes are going through. Does anyone have a suggestion for a cool place to stay, in the city center. We are planning a two stay to see the Quintana jousting tournament in August. So far, we have tried to book the Cantina Dell'Arta and also the Hotel Piceno. Neither of which respond to any correspondence. HELP! Stacy Seattle

      Castelraimondo in the Marches District

      Molise Mar 13, 2003 at 9:18 AM

Hi all! We are spending a month in Castleraimondo (August) and perfecting our italian language skills at Scuola Dante Alighieri. There is precious little information on the interenet, including italian sites, about Castelraimondo. Has anyone been - or can anyone give me an idea of how large a town it is, or if there is a map/town plan anywhere I can access? I have Triple A's Italy Road Atlas, but would love to hear from anyone who might have visited there, or anyone who actually attending the language school. I appreciate your input! Stacy Seattle
