Should we road trip from Cannes to Monaco on a Cruise stop?

      France Oct 17, 2016 at 1:45 PM

Coming into Cannes on a cruise stop and would like to know if we will have enough time to drive to Monaco and back. We arrive at 8 am and must be back at the ship by 5pm. Of course we would like to enjoy the scenery along the way. Should we? I should add that my Mom is in a wheelchair and we thought that this might give her the best option over a group tour. Your thoughts?

    • Travel from Nice to zVentimiglia

      Nice Oct 11, 2016 at 4:44 PM

I read the following toay, October 11, on Riveria Radio.
"Médecins du Monde along with several other associations has formally called for France to reopen its French-Italian border."
Does this mean the border is closed and tourists cannot travel from Nice to Ventimiglia.

Transport from Mezt town center to Parc des expositions de Metz

by arissyam Online Now Dec 2, 2014 at 4:29 AM

      Hello all,

Im planning to attend a function at Parc des expositions de Metz or Mezt Expo in November 2015. I did some readings from posting and blogs in planning this trip (my first trip to Europe, anyway). But there are few things that i would like to confirm to...

      1) is there any bus or shuttle bus that going up to the Metz expo from the town center? and the cost too..

      2) which area is the best place to stay in Mezt for low budget/backpackers traveller? i've looked at Auberge de la Jeunesse de Metz.. but im afraid it would be pretty far from the public transport... for a non-french speaking tourist like me

your kind replies are highly appreciated. thank u. :)

    • Luggage storage?

by cathy9510usa Online Now Sep 12, 2013 at 12:53 AM

I'm researching a future trip and plan to spend a day exploring Metz before leaving in late afternoon. I seem to have found a website that says the (central) train station no longer has lockers. Is there anywhere to store luggage nearby, or might one of the hotels allow me to leave my suitcase there for a few hours?

      Thanks very much.

Metz doesn't seem to be very high on the tourist trail, with only 11 postings in the Forum!

Can anyone suggest a nice place to stay, convenient to the train station?

      Thanks very much.

    • Landrefang (or Laudrefang?)

by cathy9510usa Online Now Apr 5, 2013 at 11:06 AM

Research for my great-grandfather lead me to a site where a handwritten note said he was born in Landrefang. I googled this term and can't find anything but a street named that in St Avold, plus a mention of this town in a US Military record from World War I. I do see a Laudrefang near St. Avold, though, on my large-scale map of France

Does anyone know if Landrefang and Laudrefang are the same place, or if not, where Landrefang might be?

Thank you very much for any help you can give.

      Special rail deal to Luxembourg

      Rail travel via Luxembourg
Posted: Sun February 3, 2008 07:43 PM EST
I plan a trip in the spring. I remember that I saw a special rail deal connecting Luxembourg, Trier, Saarbrucken & Metz. Is there such a pass? If so, how does it work. I plant to base in Trier a few days and it would be good to know.
In lieu of that what is the fare between Lux. and Trier and Lux. and Nancy or Metz? I could not find a Luxembourg rail site to get this info.

by cherbert Online Now Nov 30, 2006 at 7:31 AM

My daughter will be studying at the Georgia Tech campus near Metz this summer. I am trying to decide the best place for her to fly into in May, 2007. If this fast train from Paris will be operating then, perhaps it would be best. I have also considered Luxembourg and Strasbourg. Any tips you have will be appreciated. She is will be travelling with a young man so she will not be travelling alone.

    • finding an appartment in Metz

by theloniouszen Online Now Aug 26, 2006 at 11:58 AM

Hello, I am starting a teaching job in the Metz suburbs in October and will be living there until May. I think the custom for finding an apartment in France is to pay a bunch of money to an agence and get a list of appartments, then pay 2 months rent security deposit, etc. Is this what everyone does, including students? I'm American and I'm used to not having to find an agency, just going out and picking up rental guides for free. How do most students in town end up finding apartments and such? Is there any areas or districts of Metz that are better/worse than others for safety/crime? Anyone have any good apartment leads?
