Hi, we are travelling from London to Sydney with a 5 hour stopover in Kuala Lumpar airport. We are arriving in and departing from terminal M and would like to go into a lounge. Does anyone know which lounges are in terminal m as i know there is also the satellite building? We are flying economy with Malaysian airlines and would preferably like lounges with showers. Can anyone also recommend if they are worth it?

Peaceful walk 18 Nov @ KL, around Malaysia and the world

Kuala Lumpur Nov 16, 2016 at 7:41 PM

This Saturday, many Malaysians will be practising their constitutional rights to have a peaceful dem called BERSIH (Bersih is a Malay word for Clean and the color is yellow). There are a few objectives of the campaign, google it!

Thus, visitors can choose to support or avoid. Major parts of KL the focal point will be closed to traffic (motorists). Thus for tourists, use the trains as main modes of transport. Trains will continue to operate, unsure about public buses. This is the 5th outing and the authorities are much better at handling the crowd. There are always those who maybe secular and oppose (those wearing red) and they are making threats. Hope the authorities control them because they are threatening to use violence. A scare tactic.

There's no real reason to be particularly apprehensive about. Just be patient in getting from one place to another, bring some snacks/food, drinking water, umbrella (in case rain or too sunny) and if you are 'stuck' somewhere. Some eateries and shops may be closed for business as business may not be good with everyone concentrating on the rally and prevent shoplifting or looting as some may take advantage. I am unsure about touristic places but the Twin Towers KLCC mall should be open. Chinatown, Brickfields may be mostly closed as it is prime area. If you take a train to Petaling Jaya city, 30 mins train ride from KL, you can go to Amcorp Mall, Paradigm Mall (feeder bus from Kelana Jaya LRT station), One Utama (no direct adjacent train station) and Subang Parade are all Malls with quite nearby train station. Prepare that you may need to 'take it easy' on Saturday especially...many businesses maybe closed.

You could get on the train and enjoy the sights from the train and atmosphere. Or just hand around the hotel area. Check with your reception desk any latest advice and check the news.

There maybe some provocation to create trouble by some minorities parties, to create sensation and fear, the message is to stay calm and walk away. This is a non-political peaceful demonstration by Malaysians. Some politicians have taken advantage of it. Using other channels like writing to our leaders, trying to bring it up to Parliament and many others have not been successful.

Which Malaysian (penisular) islands should I visit in january-february?

      Malaysia Nov 6, 2016 at 3:00 AM

I'm thinking about going in Peninsular Malaysia in january or february and I'd like to try scuba-diving/snorkelling and relax on beaches, on one of the numerous little islands along the eastern coast of Peninsular Malaysia such as Tenggol, Tioman or Redang islands.

But about what I've heard, winter is the monsoon season and all the ferries and lodges are closed and cancelled. I've been in Malaysia once at that period and I didn't notice the weather was so terrible, but I guess it's justified.

So I wanted to know if there are some islands in Peninsular Malaysia that offers this tropical-coral like background for scuba-diving with working infrastructures at that period (outside of Langkawi that I already know)?

      Thanks a lot ;)

    • Car Park opposite Jetty

by WW54968 Online Now Oct 29, 2015 at 4:29 PM

We will be taking ferry to Tioman in mid March for 3 nights and have been advised to leave our car in the car park opposite Jetty. As schedule for Ferry will not be issued until a couple of weeks before sailing, we do not know departure time. However, looking at October/ November schedule, departure is something like 0500, 0600. As we understand it, the car park opposite Jetty does not open until 0800. Can anyone suggests any alternative car parks ?

    • Singapore to Mersing

by Houkje Online Now Mar 26, 2014 at 11:13 AM

My husband and I will be visiting Tioman Island and we were planning on flying there from Singapore, however due to Berjaya air cancelling their service will now need to go by ferry. We land at Singapore airport at 07.15am on 10 April and I'm having trouble finding the best route to the Mersing Ferry Jetty. Would anyone be able to advise on the best trip in the current situation?

Changi airport offers a coach service to Kotaraya II terminal. Is it easy to get from there to the Larkin Bus Terminal (is this now called Larkin Sentral, and in a slightly different place), or should I instead take a bus or taxi into Singapore center and take a bus from there to Larkin?

Which coach should I take from Larkin to Mersing? Do I need to pre-book? I understand booking from Mersing back to Singapore would be a good idea to make sure you have a seat.

I'm of a mind to take a taxi to not have the hassle of all the changing and making sure we get to the jetty on time (even though I still don't know what time the boat leaves, that's another interesting part of our journey!). I have been offered a pre-booked return (Changi-Mersing-Changi) for S$350; is that reasonable or should I look for local taxis instead?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Also do the buses/coaches from KL to Mersing provide on board toilets and air conditioning? Which company would be the best to use in this instance?

Is there 4 star Hotel in Mersing, taxi boat ?

by Catrine_Norway Online Now Jul 29, 2008 at 7:58 PM

      Hello :)
I'm going to Rawa Island in 1 1/2 weeks.
Beacuse we are comming in from Kuala Lumpur with bus, and need to pay for the Hotel at the office in Mersing, we would have to stay overnight I think.

I would like to stay at a 4 o5 5 star Hotel, but can't find any.
      So, do you know any?
Is it easy to get hold of a taxi boat from Mersing to Rawa if I want to get there myself, and if yes, how does it cost?

      Thanks :)

i am willing to travel to Tioman and would like to stay in Mersing for a night. Need to know what is the bus frequency from JB to Mersing in night around 8 or 9 PM (as i am coming from Singapore and will be reaching JB around 8:00 pm). The plan is to catch the first ferry at 8:30 am from Mersing to Tioman. Also, what is the frequency of ferry's between Mersing and Tioman. i did some research on internet and it appears that the ferry's are not very often (want to know the ease of catching a ferry). The same is required for ferry's from Tioman to Mersing

    • Mersing to Singapore taxi

by PhoenixW2 Online Now Dec 27, 2006 at 4:43 PM

In a few weeks time I will need to get from Mersing to Singapore. There is no flight (ex Tioman) that day, and apparently ferry times will not be known until the day before I intend to depart Tioman.

If I need to get a taxi from Mersing, can anyone please advise how it works? What should it cost, where do I get one, how much haggling etc?

Above and beyond what it costs, where to get one. If anyone can advise on how reliable it is, and what to expect I'd be grateful. This journey is the only one on the itinerarty for which I basically have nothing planned and would like to understand what is involved a bit more...

      Many thanks...

    • Driving from Singapore to mersing - need advice.

by jamesgwilliams Online Now Feb 3, 2006 at 1:05 AM

Need ur opinion. Is it safe to drive (me and my girlfriend) from Singapore to Mersing at around 6pm on a weekday. Approximately I should be reaching Mersing at around 9pm. I will check in a hotel that night and then proceed to Tioman the next morning. Is the long term car park in Mersing jetty is safe? Roughly I know the route from Singapore to Mersing.

I have driven once to Malaka before during day time. Recently I see many bad reports happening to Singapore car/drivers in Johor usually to expensive cars. Though I drive a cheap car, iam a bit concern driving with my girlfriend at late evening. Appreciate any feedback.

    • Changi Airport (singapore) to Mersing/Tioman (Malaysia)

by jamesgwilliams Online Now Jan 26, 2006 at 1:00 AM

I and my girlfriend intend to go to Tioman for 2 nights 17th and 18th Feb 2006. Iam a Singaporean and she is a foreigner. Her flight lands in Singapore on 16 Feb at 5pm. First I thought of taking a bus to Mersing on 17th Feb from Five Star Tours which leaves at 6am. But I was told that due to monsoon season, they don’t ply this route until March. Now iam planning to go to Mersing direct from Changi Airport on the 16th Feb . .. stay in Mersing 1 night . . .and then catch the first ferry to Tioman on 17th morning. ….so that I have a full day in Tioman on 17th feb

      1. Can anybody advice me how to go to Mersing from Changi Airport at around 5pm on the 16th Feb? I have already checked and there isn’t any direct bus. Iam not in favour of taking public bus from Singapore to Johore and then to Mersing as we may have luggage and furthermore my girlfriend may have language problem at immigration if she is required to follow special queue for foreigners. How about taxi options? Is it easy to get Malaysian taxi at that hour from Rochor Road? And where exactly in Rochor Road? Is it behind the Lady of Lourdes Church? How much will it cost?

      2. Also can somebody recommend a reasonably priced hotel in Mersing, near the jetty for 1 night stay on 16th?

      Thk u everybody.
