    • Shenandoah NP without a car

      Shenandoah Oct 17, 2016 at 11:58 AM

Hi ! Im travelling from Washington DC, Id like to camp and hike in Shenandoah NP. There are some buses, trains, amtrak etc going to the skyline area, but I can't decide which city precisely I should choose as a start for my discovery of the area.
I know that I can easily find a camping there, but I admit that passing by one of the visitor centers would be great before I start hiking !
I haven't planned to rent a car, so I wonder if you know any entrance easy to reach by foot or by bus.
Which of the 4 entrances do you think is the closest to beautiful siteseeing and can be reached without driving ?
Thanks a lot for your anwers !

I'll be visiting Lexington for a few days in September as part of a tour of western Virginia. Would really appreciate it if someone familiar with the town could suggest a driving tour route that would help me get quickly familiarized with Lexington's different residential and commercial areas. Or, the name of a person in the business of showing people around the area. Thanks!
