    • Baggage storage in Paris

      Paris Dec 3, 2016 at 10:04 PM

      Hi guys,
I am heading to Paris in January. On my last day I do not need to be at the airport until about 5 o'clock to catch my plane to Sydney. I obviously want to make the most of this as a sight-seeing day(possibly Disnayland) but will have my luggage with me. Does anybody know of any storage lockers or something I would be able to take my big bag to? Does the airport have lockers for rent? Or does Disneyland have big storage cubes? Or would some hotels offer baggage holding even when you have checked out?
      Thanks

    • Solo woman traveling in Paris on New Years Eve

      Paris Nov 28, 2016 at 10:57 AM

I am a 54 year old woman who will be arriving in Paris Orly airport on Thursday, December 29 at 5 pm,
and flying out of DeGalle airport on Sunday, January 1 at 11 am.

      My questions...

      1. What area in Paris should I stay in?
Since I really only have two days I would like a great location to walk to things in the area and as a base for sightseeing. I would be so grateful for decent, hotel and restaurant suggestions in that area?

      2. What is the best/easiest way to get from Orly to "that area" at that time of day?

      3. Are there any good one day tours?
I would probably book that for Friday or Saturday, and spend the other day on my own exploring the area around my hotel.

      4. What is there to do on New Years Eve? I don't drink but would love to know what would be safe for me to do alone that night.

      Thank you very much!

Can anyone suggest a day-trip from Paris?

      Paris Nov 11, 2016 at 7:32 AM

I will be visiting Paris in a few weeks. I have been to Paris numerous times and know it very well. Equally, I have taken many day-trips from Paris and have been to all the obvious places (and even beyond). Can anyone suggest a new place I might visit? I am looking for a place within a two hour radius by train.

I like quaint places, and/or places that has a old worldly feel to them. I enjoy visiting places with a riverside setting as well e.g. Moret-sur-Loing.

Here is a short list of day-trips I have taken:

Amiens, Auxerre, Beauvais, Bourges, Châlons-en-Champagne, Chantilly, Chartres, Compiègne, Dijon, Fontainebleau, Giverny, Moret-sur-Loing, Orléans, Provins, Reims, Rouen, Senlis, Sens, Tours, Troyes, Versailles.

I have not listed other places I have visisted that are further a way e.g. Caen, Lyon, Metz, Nancy, Nantes, Rennes etc.

At the moment I am thinking of visiting Meaux (because there is a cathedral in Meaux), but I would like to have a few other places on my list. I thought of trying to get to Avallon and/or Loches, but it appears there aren't any direct (or very few direct) trains to Avallon or Loches.

      Many thanks

    • Hotel in Le Havre

by cl3150 Online Now Jun 5, 2012 at 4:27 AM

We will be staying in Le Havre on a Sunday night in early September at the end of a cruise, and need to select a nice hotel. Because we will not be able to rent a car until the following morning, we need to be in Le Havre rather than one of the outlying towns. I'd like a recommendation. The twobest-looking places online appear to be the Pasino and the Mercure at the Basin. Which is the nicer of the two? Are there others directly in Le Havre that would be better?

    • Renting a car on a Sunday

by cl3150 Online Now May 29, 2012 at 2:12 AM

I am looking for a car rental agency in Le Havre where I can rent a car on a Sunday, and return it to Paris the following Thursday. I do not have the option to change either the day or the week or the necessity of returning the car to Paris, so please don't suggest making changes.

So far, I can't find any agency open on a Sunday. We arrive early Sunday morning from a cruise and have obligations that require us to drive elsewhere that morning.

      All practical solutions are welcome.

We are terminating a cruise in Le Havre. We would like to go to the WW II normandy sites the day we arrive and then to Mont St. Michelle the next morning. We plan to stay the night somewhere and then take a train to Paris at the end of the second day. Would we be better off to stay in Caen or Bayeux and how would we get there from Le Havre. Thanks, Carol

    • minibus with driver at Le Havre?

by debbieO Online Now Jun 12, 2010 at 9:07 AM

I am looking for a minibus with driver for group of 10 people to tour Normandy coastline for approx 9-10 hours. We will arrive Le Havre in September by cruise ship. Since there is an 85 years old lady in the group, I think a minibus with driver would be the most practical way to go. Anybody know companies offer such service in the area?

    • Le Havre Railroad Station

by genol Online Now Jun 5, 2009 at 11:47 AM

Is it possible to safely leave several fairly large pieces of luggage at the station for a few hours while waiting for a train to Paris? Is there a check room? Are there large lockers that might be used? Can a passenger check luggage and have it loaded or available for a train leaving within up to 2-3 hours or less?

    • LeHavre to Omaha Beach

by heimer Online Now May 22, 2009 at 4:56 PM

We will be arriving in LeHavre on a cruise ship and I have arranged a rental car when we get there. Information about where to pick up the car relative to where we arrive is very sparse, along with what to expect in the way of tolls and traffic between the two locations. We have about 8 hours to complete our roundtrip journey with our main interest being Omaha Beach and the American cemetary. We are senior citizens. Are we making a mistake?

      Thank you

Digital photo kiosks for public use - or suggests how to handle this situation

by karousel35 Online Now Aug 18, 2007 at 4:33 AM

Our trip to France is coming up fast and we are trying to keep from purchasing too many extra memory cards for our digital cameras. Does anyone know in the Normandie area if there are digital photo kiosks available for public use? We would like to every day or so go in an download our photos and have them put onto CD's for easy transport home.
Thank you for your time -
