I am visiting krabi for the first time with my wife in December. I had a few questions regarding food and local travel. We will be staying at a hotel at tubkaek.
1) Bus, Taxi options which would be more convenient from tubakaek to ao nang/krabi town. We would also like to know if bus/taxi for return journey from ao nang to tubkaek would be available even late at night?
2) Can I hire scooter for local travel and would i need an international drivers license for the same(traveling from India)
3) Vegetarian food options in krabi town and ao nang including street food.
4) Apart from 4 island tour and railay beach any other must visit places?

I, my husband and 75 years old my mum will travel to Krabi (Aonang) end of this month. Due to my mum's age, we plan to take a cab to and from airport, and also need a round trip car transfer from Aonang to Krabi town on the next day.
Understand from website that they charge B$600 for 1 airport transfer and B$500/car for Aonang-krabi town. Can anyone suggest a reliable driver who can offer a better price? Add up S$600x2 + B$500x2 will be more expensive than my accommodation expense :-(

Hi, We will be flying into Krabi in the middle of January 2016 and have ten days to plan before flying out of Phuket. This will be our first time in these areas and would like a little guidance for us to make our choice of suitable itinerary.
We would like to split the time between the two areas and would like suggestions of suitable locations.
We basically want real nice beaches, sea good for snorkelling, good beach food shacks / restaurants.
We don't want loads of discos, clubs, drunken raves, but do enjoy a good walk round local bars.
Can anyone give us some ideas. We don't mind catching ferries from Krabi but don't want to spend our time hopping.
So ideally it will be two locations satisfying what we want.
Many thanks all in advance
I am planning to visit Phuket, would want to know if Krabi would be worth visiting? More so i would want to know what is different in both places? Considering both are beach destinations.
I've been doing lots of reasearch, trying to find out about catching buses from Krabi to Penang. It seems like buses go via Hat Yai and take about 8 hours.
I would like to know if its possible to catch a night bus and arrive in Penang in the early morning.
I'm in Thailand for quite a short time and don't want to waste my time travelling during the day for 8 hours!
Has anyone caught an overnight bus between these Krabi and Penang?

I will be traveling solo to Krabi soon and had some concern about doing activities as a solo traveler vs with a group of friends.
1) As a single traveler, how do I do snorkeling with my wallet and HP on me? Since I have no friends to look after my belongings while I am in the water, where do I change and put my stuffs?
2) I have never snorkel in my life before, is krabi a safe place for me to learn?
3) Same for the scooter, is it safe for me to learn and ride one if I've never drive before?
4) If I join an island hopping tour, is it awkward for a solo traveler to be inside a group of strangers who are already friends?

Can somebody in Krabi (Ao Nang or Krabi Town) right now hit any western union agent and ask how much it costs to money transfer 300 Baht to Bangkok? I know it is ridiculously LOW to transfer only 300 Baht, I just need to know. I ask because sending money from anywhere in the Philippines to any point within the Philippines is very cheap, wanted to know if it is the same in Thailand. If you can do me a favor asking the agent up front so we can get the most current / updated transfer rate. Cheers!
