    • Where to stay

by Adnilnewrad Online Now Jun 6, 2015 at 12:26 PM

We are seasoned Greek travellers, an older couple who like to explore every square inch of where we visit(we don't sunbath) We will pick up a car at the airport and want to stay somewhere that will let us explore the whole island without having to use the same roads constantly. We where thinking of staying in Masthari(apologies if mis spelt) as our base as we don't like really bustling places, is this a good start or would you suggest elsewhere. Thanks in advance

Travel from Kos airport to Lakitira suites

by theHeatingEngineer Online Now Mar 18, 2015 at 7:27 AM

Is there a bus that goes past this the Lakitira Suites hotel from the airport?

The hotel appears to be 4km west of Kardamena, not at Kardamena as shown by Google maps. This is a link of the possible routes. It may just be easier to hire a taxi, but I was hoping to master the public transport.

Less worried about the alcohol part- and am i likely to be IDd?

      Volcano Hazard????

by vdoortje Online Now Oct 27, 2012 at 2:25 PM

We just returned from trip to Kos. We loved the island and plan to go back there.
But something happened that is worrying me.

We went for a daytrip to Nyssiros is order to see a sleeping volcano. You actualy can enter on of the caldera's. You can see steam and gasses comming out of holes in the caldera. And since it just was raining in Nyssiros there was water in the caldera and you could the water was boiling in the middle.
Most of the people from our group went down into the caldera and all seemed pefectly OK.
Until a man from our group came back with severe burns on his right foot. Seems that the crust of the caldera was quite thin and he stepped on it and went through. Probably in a hole with hot gasses or hot water. His burns were of 2nd degree and really serious, he was in a lot of pain.

I wonder if this happened before. And question the actual safety of the caldera.

Someone have any experience with this??

      Thanks, Dora.
