Am curious about this region and the possibility of a Western citizen to visit. Can anybody advise if there are diplomatic regions with visiting this area? I understand that the region is much safer than it previously was?
Can anyone offer advice on visiting the Kabardino-Balkarskaya Republic as well as her close neighbours? I guess the easiest way to get there would be from Georgia?
We are a couple looking to travel to Russia, Poland, Prague, and Austria. We haven't decided the time frame for this trip. Any suggestions for an easy route of travel? We were thinking flying into Russia first then out of another area. How many days should we give ourselves in Russia for sightseeing and are there tour guides we could hire?

We are travelling to Moscow on the Tolstoy Express from Helsinki and wondered if we should use the train again and if so which one of the two choices, Express or Overnight or, to make a change, to fly.
