      Charging stations Terminal D IAH

    • alligators + tourist attractions

      Tampa Jan 31, 2017 at 5:46 AM

I have a phobia about alligators and yet I want somewhere warm for an end of Nov/Dec break. Are there any alligators on the beach at this time of the year - does anyone have personal knowledge of the situation

Apart from Disney what other attractions are there - we would like to do some touring but looking at the crime rate in Charleston/New Orleans we are scared as we came close to being run off the road in Washington DC near the Jeffereson library Plan to stay about 2-3 weeks so could do 1000/1500 miles comfortably with hotels interspersed

Can I add my thanks to VT which has been invaluable to me and enabled me to stay safe and see lots of places I wouldn't have seen. Only hope there is a last minute reprieve

    • Arizona/Utha in Fall

      Arizona Jan 29, 2017 at 9:49 AM

      Hi :)

I need some advice for travel. I want to go to Las Vegas this fall and then drive by car to Grand Canyon and etc.
      My plan looks like this:

First Day - Pick up the Car, drive to Hoover Dam and then to Tusayan

Second Day - Visit Grand Canyon. We are not really "hiking people", so everything that takes more thatn 2hrs round trip is probably to much. But as i seen on then internet, most places are pretty accesible by car or shuttle.

Third Day - Drive to Page, visit the Slot Canyons arount 11 AM (tours start then). and visit Horseshoe Bend in the afternoon

Fourth Day - Drive from Page to Bryce Canyon (about 3hrs). Anything nice to see on the way there?

Fifth Day - Visit Bryce Canyon

Sixt Day - Drive to Springdale for Zion NP (about 2hrs). Anything nice to see on the way there?

Seventh Day - Zion NP (visit The Narrows)
Eight Day - Zion NP - What should we do too?
Ninnth Day - Spend morning in Zion then drive back to Vegas, Anything nice to see on the way there?

What do you think, is it a good plan? Should we spend less/more at a specific place? We have read that roads in this area are usually straight and not crowded, so driving shouln't be a hussle.

      Any help is appreciated

We will be travelling in America this March, so we have decided to rent a car. We have heard that there are roads which require payments. 1. How can we pay these fees? Cash, credit card? Could rented car use sunpass and toll-by-plate? If yes, how to get it online? 2. What insurance car needs to have zero excess?

big dancing pop / trap night club in Iowa

Iowa City Sep 2, 2016 at 10:15 AM

When I left Santiago, Chile there were 6 million people living there, so there were a lot of huge places to go dancing, and playing all kinds of different music depending on the place,

so I am wondering what would be the place to go dancing in Iowa City if you like a place with a lot of people dancing pop or trap music or something like that

What is this Furture Birthplace of Captain Kirk?

I saw on a newer atlas, that in Iowa, there is some Future Birthplace of Captain Kirk. It wasn't there before. But I don't know if this means future as in, it hasn't been built yet, or future as in Captain Kirk was born in the future.
Are there any Trekies who can solve this mystery?

And please, please. Do not move this question. This is a perfectly legitimate question for the Iowa forum.

So, I thought using river pearls from iowa would be a great gift, being pearl is the baby's birthstone. I make jewelry so I've been trying to find loose ones on line. You cannot imagine how hard they are to find to buy. Do you have website info about shops that sell the river pearls loose, or some shops that have simple jewelry with them? I hope this works, and I appreciate the effort so much. Yes, our son's wife is an iowa jewel...and I want to provide some for her and the baby gem!

      Windy things.....

      Iowa Apr 30, 2012 at 12:01 PM

I know I will be in Iowa (Iowa City, to be exact, although I shall drive around as well) for a week in mid-August.

I know that Iowa is slap-bang in the middle of 'Tornado Alley'.

I am a Brit. We do not generally have tornadoes in the UK, and those that we do have (rarely) are very small and very localised. So my question is simply this..what do I do if a) the tornado siren sounds and/or b) I see a tornado when I'm driving around?

Drive swiftly in the opposite direction? Stay in the car? Park and seek shelter? Try to get inside a building?

If I ask about things and know what to do, chances are (ime) they won't happen. That's what I've found, anyway....

What to do, where to go....

Iowa City Jan 22, 2012 at 9:50 AM

I am 99.999% sure I'll be staying in IC for several days (probably 5 or 6) in mid-August. Not yet sure how i'll be arriving...still trying to sort out an itinerary within my budget.

Some of those days will be certainly taken up with other things (the reason why I'm going) but I anticipate having at least 2 or 3 free. I shall hire a car: I know I must!

So....where shall I go? My real interests are history and archaeology, small places and countryside. But I will almost certainly be by myself, so would be a bit wary of taking long hikes in what I assume will be (for a Brit) hot weather. Gentle countryside strolls would be better.

      All ideas gratefully received. :-)
