      Specialist advice re coach holidays

United Kingdom Jan 9, 2017 at 2:58 PM

We have a long established local company that organises local day trips, theatre trips as well as short and longer holiday breaks in the UK and Europe..
We have, so far, only used them to take us to and from events in the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff.
They have an excellent reputation amongst local people who have used then for longer holidays in the UK and overseas.
. We are considering a coach and Eurotunnel trip to the Austrian Tyrol. 8 days in all.
Can you please advise me if we should see any particular details of affiliation to any travel authorising associations ABTA - that sort of thing.
      They are www.europeanheritagetours.com
We usually travel independently with full Travel Insurance but now octogenarians like the idea of sitting back and enjoying the view with somebody else at the wheel
I would be very grateful for any advice you can give.
      Thanks

    • how much money do you need to be granted a visa to visit the UK for 1 or 2 weeks?

      England Dec 25, 2016 at 12:22 PM

In order to have the visa application approved, you need to show that you have a certain amount of money, the means to look after yourself for the duration of your stay and to get back to your home country on your own. You need to show that you have a reason to return home.. The person who will visit me from morocco is a student who wants to visit the UK for 1 or 2 weeks, they can also stay with me in my house so there is no need to pay for a hotel or anything like that, even food I would provide everything. But we dont know how much money they must show is in the bank account for the visa to be accepted or denied. There seems to be no guideline about any kind of threshold. Does anyone know more about how much money is needed for the visa application to be accepted?

    • VISA Question

      London Jan 1, 2017 at 5:01 PM

Hello, guys. Here I have some dilemma. Due to UK's Immigration procedure, citizens of Ukraine need to obtain VISA to step on Her Majesty's soil. But, there are also some rumors that once you have NATIONAL LONG-TERM VISA (in my case, I'm currently holding National Long-term student VISA of Spain) from any EU/Schengen Agreement country, you could travel to GB without another. Please, reply me as soon as you can, because I've tried several times to figure it out both in UK's Government website and Spanish. None of them replied. Thank you in advance.

      Hi there,

My husband and I are planning a trip to Scotland in the month of June. As we will be traveling with our baby daughter, we're hoping to find an area to base ourselves for the month (or split our time between two home bases; a couple of weeks in each place). We will be renting a car from Glasgow and returning to Glasgow at the end of the month. We would like to see the Highlands (possibly the Isle of Skye) and castles. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

      Northumberland or Kent?

United Kingdom Dec 27, 2016 at 10:48 AM

We're taking an 8 day trip to England and I have one free day to choose between two options. We'll either be doing a tour at the beginning of the trip, from Edinburgh to Alnswick Castle, the Holy Island, and the Northumberland coast - OR we can do a one day tour from London to Kent, Leeds, and Dover. I'd been interested in Northumberland and the Holy Island as I have a Scandinavian heritage and also have traced lines back to the Northumberland area, and have also heard about the beautiful, remote landscape. However, this tour will be a lot of time spent scenic driving. The other tour will be rushed, but allow me to see Kent, Leeds Castle, with a stop at the cliffs of Dover. Which would you suggest?

      Heathrow Dec 20, 2016 at 4:45 AM

I'm arriving to terminal 5 on flight BA244 at 6:30, and I have to book another ticket which is departing from terminal 4. What time should I book this ticket to be sure I won't miss it? I have to go through the customs and baggage claim. I have an option on a KLM flight KL1010, which departs at 11:45, is it possible to take this flight or should I wait the next? The second option is to wait for another BA flight same departure time, but it costs 4x more than KLM's.

    • Transferring from international flight at North Terminal to domestic flight at South Terminal

by Sydneyrose Online Now Nov 14, 2016 at 4:44 PM

Hello, I am looking at booking a flight from Sydney, Australia to Newquay, Cornwall via Gatwick with 2 children and 3 checked-in bags (the children are 10&13 so can wheel their own luggage).

I have two connecting flight options with my Emirates flight, which lands at North Terminal at 7.20am:

      1. Flybe from South Terminal at 9.30am
      2. Flybe from South Terminal at 1.35pm.

Common sense is saying hang around for the 1.35pm flight but that's a long time to sit at Costa, especially after a 23-hour journey & with two tired children ... Do you think (providing the plane lands on time) that I'd have a good chance of making the 9.30am flight or would it be just too much of a rush?

      Thanks in advance

by arlo85 Online Now Oct 24, 2016 at 11:14 PM

      Hi everyone,

Two of us will be arriving at LGW via Norwegian from the US at 12:50, and our departing flight is scheduled for 14:15 with Easyjet, flying to France. I know, not the greatest idea. At this point, I'm wondering if you all could weigh in on what steps we'll need to go through between flights? Arriving in the south terminal, leaving from north. I read on Gatwick's website that it looks like we will not need to go through passport control or customs, but can anyone please confirm? And will we need to go through security?

Other info: We only have carry-ons, so no need to wait for checked baggage. We're doing online checkin and will have our boarding passes on hand. Our seats on Norwegian are right in front so hopefully we're one of the first ones off.

Thanks in advance for your help!

    • Does Gatwick Connect Service Save Any Time

by TheHawk1 Online Now Aug 4, 2016 at 10:11 AM

I am self-connecting between two airlines through Gatwick on Tuesday, Sept. 27. First flight on Easyjet arrives from BCN at 8:35am in South Terminal. Second flight on Westjet departs to YYZ at 10:55 am also from South Terminal. This is only after Westjet made a schedule change, with the departure time now 2 hours earlier than originally scheduled when I bought the tickets.

LGW advertises Connect Service, where they will check your bag through to your destination for you, rather than having to queue up again at bag drop. Will this save me any time? Will it save me enough time to be able to still clear customs and go through security again to connect to the Westjet flight in 2 hours and 20 mins?

If not, then my only option is probably to change the YYZ departure flight to the next day? The Easyjet flight is the first one to land in the morning and Westjet only has one departure each day, so choices are very limited.

by zaak Online Now Jun 25, 2016 at 3:55 AM

Hi, I have a flight going to arrive on London Gatwick on Oct. 8th at 11:50PM from Vancouver Canada. (I am a Canadian citizen)
I am looking for a connecting flight and there are 2 options for me.
One depart at 2:25PM and another one depart at 4:0PM.
My question is that would I be able to catch the 2:25PM flight?
I would need to go though UK custom, get my checked in baggages, then I can proceed to checkin with my next flight and go through security again.
Is it totally doable or am I testing my luck?
