    • Shenandoah NP without a car

      Shenandoah Oct 17, 2016 at 11:58 AM

Hi ! Im travelling from Washington DC, Id like to camp and hike in Shenandoah NP. There are some buses, trains, amtrak etc going to the skyline area, but I can't decide which city precisely I should choose as a start for my discovery of the area.
I know that I can easily find a camping there, but I admit that passing by one of the visitor centers would be great before I start hiking !
I haven't planned to rent a car, so I wonder if you know any entrance easy to reach by foot or by bus.
Which of the 4 entrances do you think is the closest to beautiful siteseeing and can be reached without driving ?
Thanks a lot for your anwers !

We heard there was a horse drawn tour of Fredericksburg. Has this been replaced by the Trolley tour

    • Info on Fredericksburg Streets, neighborhood, and Hotel location

by DocHolliday Online Now Apr 7, 2004 at 12:16 PM

My wife and I will be visiting later on this year. We have narrowed our choices of hotels to the Best Western at 2205 William Street and the Best Western on 3000 Plank Rd. , the Comfort Inn on 5422 Jefferson Davis Ave., the Holiday Inn at 564 Warrenton rd. and finally the Wingate Inn on 20 Sandford dr. Any help would be greatly appreciated or any info on where I can find out for myself. We just want to make sure these hotels are in a good part of town and how close they are to the battlefields and such. Thanks again for any information.
