Traveling to Paris (3 days) and then to Caen (2days). Using the train system. Looking to stay close/walking distance or central point to stations. What station that would be? and any tips of what/where to stay (hotel wise) On a budget but safe area please. Thank you for your help.
Could you suggest me some nice bed and breakfast in Paris?
Hello Paris experts ;-)
We'll be attending the U2 show in Paris on July 25 and want to add a couple of extra days in and around the city.
I don't yet know where we'll be staying.
Our boys - who will be 9 and 11 by then - will be joining us. In fact it was their idea go along to a show and then our oldest one decided he wanted to see the Eiffeltower ... And what's a mum to do then but to buy tickets for the Stade de France then ... anything to keep the young ones happy (and now I can 'blame' them for the trip ;-) ).
We'll likely arrive there around noon on friday 21st and leave for home again on wednesday 26th.
Do any of you have a suggestion as on what kids might enjoy doing. The Eiffeltower is a must. Besides that: they don't mind a museum (as long as it doesn't take an entire day), they like history and they're not fussy about walking.
I've read something about the sewers tour ... do you think that's worth doing with kids?
As always: thanks for your input!
We will be spending a few days in Carcassonne in May-June and have things pretty well sorted out. However, it would be nice to hear from you if you have any suggestions for things we should not miss. Also, restaurant recommendations would be welcome for Carcassonne, Narbonne, Beziers and/or Collioure.
Thanks - this could well be my last question before VT gets the deep six.
Sorry to hear this site is shutting down.
I had an incredible summer honeymoon in Switzerland thanks entirely to commenters on this forum. I'm really grateful.
This question is very broad but I thought I might get lucky again!
Hoping for a may/June family holiday this year.
Traveling with a three year old and a one year old.
Beach, hotel, pools, nature, good food, a nice little town nearby.
We really want it to be child friendly with food and drink readily available but not too big a complex.
Also considering Italy and Greece, I'll post over there too.
Many thanks if you have any thoughts!
I'm keen to visit Villers Bretanneux while in Paris. I can catch a train to Amiens but need to be able to get to VB for a visit, then go to the Australian war memorial about a mile away. Any suggestions. I don't want to pay the E300 for a full tour of the Somme region. Driving isn't an option
I will be in Paris this early Feb and would like to go to a scenic spot similar to the Alps. Perhaps Jungfrau Switzerland or somewhere nearer Paris or Geneva? I only have 2 days though. Our free time will be Friday the whole day until Sunday morning. We need to leave by Sunday morning (either from Paris or Geneva). Any suggestions?
Has anyone taken the ferry from Nice to Corsica? I have a few questions.
Are restaurants, shops in geneal and points of interest open?
What is the livliest city to visit in January or February?
Does one need a car to get around?
Planning a three week trip next summer in France with my family (2 adults, 4 kids).
Thoughts are as follows:
- 4 days Paris (stay in an apartment), 3 days euro Disney (Disney hotel)
- 1 week in mt chamonix (stay in hotel)
- 1 week between Provence and nice (not sure how to split this. Stay in Campsites??)
Any any any advice would be highly appreciated.
What is the nearest train station to Bresles ?
Can someone help me? We have booked an Easyjet fight from Edinburgh to Mulhouse-Basel Euroairport and want to hire a car to travel within France. When I went to my usual car hire site, I noticed that if I hired the car in the French sector rather than the Swiss sector, I would save approximately £150. I then checked my flight and found I was flying into the Swiss sector. I emailed the car hire site who advised if I wanted to book a car for France I should do so in the nearest French town. This does not seem to be the answer as non airport car hire offers little choice. When I looked into the airport website it says that passengers can access both French and Swiss areas. Before I contact the airline and car hire company, can anyone help with any information regarding this unusual and seemingly confusing airport?
I need to rent a car in March at Biarritz (BIQ) airport. Does anyone have an opinion on what company is better at tnis location.
I would like to explore provincial France, small towns and villages. I have about 3 weeks in May for this project. Has anybody done similar trip?. Any suggestions would be more than welcome.
Hi Paris expert friends - Would someone know the transportation options from the Gare de Lyon to Orly Airport? Thanks, Jean
I am heading to Paris in January. On my last day I do not need to be at the airport until about 5 o'clock to catch my plane to Sydney. I obviously want to make the most of this as a sight-seeing day(possibly Disnayland) but will have my luggage with me. Does anybody know of any storage lockers or something I would be able to take my big bag to? Does the airport have lockers for rent? Or does Disneyland have big storage cubes? Or would some hotels offer baggage holding even when you have checked out?
I am a 54 year old woman who will be arriving in Paris Orly airport on Thursday, December 29 at 5 pm,
and flying out of DeGalle airport on Sunday, January 1 at 11 am.
1. What area in Paris should I stay in?
Since I really only have two days I would like a great location to walk to things in the area and as a base for sightseeing. I would be so grateful for decent, hotel and restaurant suggestions in that area?
2. What is the best/easiest way to get from Orly to "that area" at that time of day?
3. Are there any good one day tours?
I would probably book that for Friday or Saturday, and spend the other day on my own exploring the area around my hotel.
4. What is there to do on New Years Eve? I don't drink but would love to know what would be safe for me to do alone that night.
Thank you very much!
I am going to Paris from 23rd Dec till 3rd Jan for Christmas holiday,
In Australia normally you get a good deals for laptops in stores like JB High Fi or Harvey Norman, can anyone help me where I can buy a low price portable laptop in Paris?
My wife and I are hoping to visit the naturist resort for the first time next June/July (2017) and we're wondering what's the best accommodation to book?
Many thanks in advance.
I will be visiting Paris in a few weeks. I have been to Paris numerous times and know it very well. Equally, I have taken many day-trips from Paris and have been to all the obvious places (and even beyond). Can anyone suggest a new place I might visit? I am looking for a place within a two hour radius by train.
I like quaint places, and/or places that has a old worldly feel to them. I enjoy visiting places with a riverside setting as well e.g. Moret-sur-Loing.
Here is a short list of day-trips I have taken:
Amiens, Auxerre, Beauvais, Bourges, Châlons-en-Champagne, Chantilly, Chartres, Compiègne, Dijon, Fontainebleau, Giverny, Moret-sur-Loing, Orléans, Provins, Reims, Rouen, Senlis, Sens, Tours, Troyes, Versailles.
I have not listed other places I have visisted that are further a way e.g. Caen, Lyon, Metz, Nancy, Nantes, Rennes etc.
At the moment I am thinking of visiting Meaux (because there is a cathedral in Meaux), but I would like to have a few other places on my list. I thought of trying to get to Avallon and/or Loches, but it appears there aren't any direct (or very few direct) trains to Avallon or Loches.
How tourist-y is Antibes in January or February?
I need a get-away soon, but I don't want to be around large numbers of tourists milling around, taking photos, partying. Unlike many tourists these days, I'm not "looking for the action" (excitement) at all.
I do speak French fluently and have been a francophile most of my life.
Is Antibes in the winter subdued enough, quiet enough for me to spend two weeks just de-compressing, wandering around, reading (French novels) and listening to classical music in my apartment? Or should I look elsewhere on the Cote d'Azur, somewhere smaller like Vence or Beaulieu, etc.??
How would you compare Menton with Villefranche-sur-mer as a base to explore the Cote d'Azur for a first-time traveler (to the French Riviera) for two-weeks? I am looking for a quiet village or small town atmosphere, away from hordes of tourists, and crossed off Antibes, etc. for that reason. Somehow I narrowed down to my list to Menton and Villefranche-sur-mer. I know the latter is much smaller and seems to cater to a more upper-tier clientele, while the former has attracted many French retirees.
I do speak French and have a degree in art history, with interest in French history and literature. I will not have a car.
Hello. the on ly way we can get to reims is via Charles de Gaulle in aris, thence by train. Is the station at the airport difficult to find? also, once at reims, can anhone suggest a cheap hotel near the station and cathedral> we cannot walk far especially with luggage, and we would also like to be close to Christmas market. many thanks
How expensive are sundry items and groceries, not just tourist souvenirs? Is the mark-up really high?
Hi. I'm a single female traveler visiting Paris for the week and Istaying in Montmarte. I was wondering if anyone knows of any cafes or bars where I can meet fellow soli travelers. I'm not looking for crazy partying nightlife, rather just some places where I'm likely to meet other friendly travelers. Any suggestions? Thank you!

We are planning a river cruise in the Box rivers and then driving back to Paris/CDG over 4-5 days. We're not yet sure what that route will be but possibly the Loire Valley, Mont Saint-Michel or ??? We have a choice of the beginning the cruise 6/4/17 or 10/8/17. Could we get your opinions on what would be the more enjoyable timing?rdeau
Can you give me an idea of what the weather is like from November to March when I will be staying in Condom.
