Traveling to Cancun from Chicago with 4 month old baby- First trip with baby!

      Cancún Yesterday

      Hi,

My husband and I will be traveling for the first time with our 4 month old baby. We have been to Cancun before, however, never with a baby! Can you please let me know what things I should be taking with or any tips.. I am nursing the baby, We will be staying at the all inclusive Royalton Riviera Resort.

      1) I am planning on taking a stroller and carseat and baby carrier

      2) Suncreen?? I hear I can't put it on a baby - any tricks besides not taking her out until later afternoon/evening.

      3) Swim suit and flotie???or swim diaper- I was thinking about having her in a flotie with us supervising.

       4) I am assuming we can't really do any excursions or activities?

      5) any tips?

      Cancún Jan 4, 2017 at 8:47 PM

I've done so much research and now I turn to the experts---We want to zip line, ATV, snorkel, cenotes, raft in caves with stalactites and stalagmites. It seems like X-plor has all of this. We love nature. We don't care about tours with food or shows. We also want to swim with dolphins.
If we do xplor, do we also need to do xcarat? Xelha? What combo tour should we do with xplor?
We want to snorkel in isla-mujeres. Where can we do that? Where can we rent a golf cart there? What private beach is a must in cancun or isla-mujeres? What is unique to do at night? Thank you in advance!

Hi, I am looking for New Year's Eve parties/events for 2016 in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Searching through the internet, I have only been able to find announcements for previous New Year's parties, but none for this year. Does anyone know if there's something going on, or can help me as to where to look?

    • All Inclusive Hotel in Cancun or Playa

      Cancún Nov 19, 2016 at 5:51 PM

I'm traveling to Cancun in early January and staying the first few days at an studio I rented out on AirBnb. I plan to book a all-inclusive hotel at some point during my trip for about 3 day stay. Is it possible to book a decent all-inclusive hotel on the spot? If so, any recommendation on a hotel for a single male in his 20's?

I am meeting someone at the Cancun airport who is arriving 2 1/2 hours before my flight. Can they stay in the secured area & go to the gate where I am arriving to wait or do they need to leave immediately & go through customs? If so is there a place on the main floor where we could meet?

I fly in and out of Cancun and would like to see ruins and culturally significant areas of this region. Also snorkel or dive cenote. If anyone could make suggestions I'd appreciate it, I don't speak Spanish but happy to freelance . I want to avoid tourist resorts etc. Cheers Sharon

      Advice about a day tour

      Cancún Apr 24, 2016 at 12:39 PM

For a special occasion I am trying to arrange a day sightseeing tour to include Chichen Itza and surroundings for just the two of us, but most tour companies charge an arm and a leg, maybe because the large vans that they use. Can someone recommend a friendly private tour operator with perhaps smaller car, friendlier price, but still good service?

    • Vacationing in Playa Del Carmen for the first time - Excursions?

Playa del Carmen Apr 19, 2016 at 7:12 AM

My best friend and I will be traveling to Playa Del Carmen the last week of June to the first week of July. We booked it through a travel agency and this will be our first time traveling abroad to Mexico. We booked an all inclusive resort at the Riu Playacar. It seemed to meet most of our preferences: relaxing, somewhat smaller and quieter resort with beach access.

Since we will be staying at an All Inclusive, the food, bedding etc will be taken care of. I imagine some of the nearby amenities (snorkeling, golfing, swimming, etc) will also be included.

We shelled out quite a bit of money for the hotel, so we are looking for fun & affordable excursions/things to do/ places to visit nearby. Free is also nice. :) I've read about the Rio Secreto (~$100 pp?) which looks AMAZING as well as other cenotes. Also saw there were jungle buggy rides, visiting Chichen Itza, Tulum, swimming with dolphins in the ocean, the all inclusive Xplor park etc. I can't list them all because there seems to be so much to do! We really don't know where to begin, and will only be there for a week so we'd like to take advantage of our time there without emptying out our wallets too much...Thanks!

    • Budget for long stay?

Estado de Quintana Roo Apr 13, 2016 at 12:04 PM

My friend and I are planning on buying a one way ticket and stay in Mexico for a few months. He will be doing a diving instructor course and then try to find a job. But how much does it cost per month to stay in this area? Is it easy to find cheap food? What can we espect to pay for renting a small place? At this time we have been mainly looking at Cozumel but nothing is decided yet. Is there a big difference in prices depending on where you go?
Hope someone is able to answer this! Thanks in advance

    • 5 Days - So Many Things Want To Do

      Cancún Mar 13, 2016 at 11:18 AM

We are staying a total of 5 days in Cancun (plus 2 days for flying in and flying out). This is what we want to see/do - we have our own car. Tulum and/or Chichen Itza for pyramids; Cenote; Isle de Muejeres, massages; Playa del Carmen and possibly Cozumel for a day. Anything we could delete/combine in one day? Would like to make it as efficient and fun as possible. If these are too much to do in our short time there, then suggestions on what we should cut out. Is Cozumel worth a one day visit or should we just stay around or outside Cancun? Thought since we were so close.......:) Thank you so much!!

Please can anyone help... traveling in August 2016, 2 children 10 and 12 - which hotel would you recommend Casa Las Tortuga or HM Paraiso del Mar? Any ideas for things to do with kids? Which is the best boat to go out and see the Flamingos/fishing/snorkeling etc? Many thanks... Also has anyone been to Talum - and if so, where you spend more time with kids, Talum or Holbox - or if you had 14 nights, how would you split them?
