Coming to Surabaya 12/7 to 12/20 to visit friends, have a rental car, looking for a good driver for intermittent driving, inside and outside of the city, male or female no preference as long as a good driver
Hi, My gf and i would like to plan 4 days trip to Bandung start from 11th December 2016. I've check the weather forecast in December and it seems like raining and thunderstorm most likely happen in December. Would like to know whether the the weather around december will affect our sightseeing and outdoor trips.
2. Any interesting places to get delicious and cheap local food around?
3. Where is the best place to stay if we would like to shop around if not heading for outdoor activities.
How is Bandung Volcano -Tangkuban Perahu as compared to Kintamani Volcano
I am visiting Bandung for two days with my wife and two teenage daughters. Can someone please suggest a itinerary for us. We would like to do a visit to a crater, a good traditional meal , some shopping and a good spa. How much will it be if we hire a car and driver for the whole day.
Coming summer we will visit Ijen Crater. We're traveling with our two young daughters (physically in good shape / they did some 1 day jungle trekkings with us last summer in Thailand). We will be staying 2 night at Ijen Resort & Villas. I do have some questions which you might probably be able to answer for me.
1. We won't make the blue flame tour during the night (don't want to skip a night sleep for the kids). Is the sunrise at Ijen Crater really a must see? Because than still we do need to wake up around 3.30 / 4.00 am in the morning). Obviously I understand the sunrise is really beautiful but just wondering whether it's really a must see since we most probably will do the sunrise tour at Bromo as well.
2. Is it feasible for the kids to go into the Crater itself as well / so do the downhill of 20 minutes (they will be able to make the climb of 1.5 hours)? Obviously we will wear a mask to prevent ourselves from the toxic gasses.
3. Where can we rent the masks? I read you can rent them from the miners everywhere. Can they also be carried by kids?
4. Do the miners also work during the day? Although I really regret the conditions they need to work in I really would like to see them and experience the devilish environment they are in.
So all in all my main question is whether we really need to be there at the top at 5.30 am or is the Ijen Crater excursion also interesting enough to do during daytime?
Thanks for your replies.
Hi, I’m planning a visit to East Java beginning of April. Could someone recommend me a good and reliable and experienced driver with a car who could do a classic trip Surabaya, Mt Brome (night there) then next day Ijen (night there) and drop off at Bali.

I am going to Bandung, but my plane lands in Jakarta. I am travelling alone as woman, so I need a safe option for traveling.
Best would be if I could book in advance. I speak nearly no bahasa so I need some advice.
How much, where etc.
I need to get from Surabaya to Jakarta tomorrow.
Anyone know of private drivers ? The train is full and I cannot fly with my Visa.
Please let me know. Thanks!
I've done my research on getting to Bromo or Cemoro Lawang from Surubaya now I'm looking for specifics for getting around the area. I'll be doing this independent of the tours and walking/hiking as much of it as I can so I'm trying to gather as much info on it as I can.
I will try to get a room in Lava View or somewhere nearby, from there I would like to know how far it is to the viewpoint which from what I have read is on or near Mt. Pananjakan. The only review or blog post I've read which mentions the time says it's somewhere from 20-40 mins walk up there, not sure how accurate that is or if that's even from Cemoro Lawang area or some other point.
From the viewpoint, how far is it back down to the entrance or the place where you pay the fee and then to the actual volcano itself?
Any other vantage points or tips on getting around sand sea and the temple would also be appreciated.
EDIT: I just read another post stating that the route the 4x4's take to the viewing area is different from the walking path, don't know if this is true or if there are clear markings along the way when I get there.
I will celebrate new year 2015 in Bandung, where is a best place for count down?
I'm about to head off on a magazine assignment to Bandung, Java, and I wondered if anyone could recommend any really exciting (and preferably unexpected) things to see or do...? Anything that is new or particularly iconic for Bandung (ie not something you can easily see elsewhere) would be perfect.
Where to stay?

Hi all. I will be heading to Bandung for a 3D2N trip and intended to hire a driver for the first 2 days. Anyone can recommend some reliable with good reputation drivers/company to me please? Anyone used DOM and Zafiracar before? Any comments on their service? Thank you very much.
Seen what looks like a very professional tour company based in Banyuwangi called aligatours
who organise tours to places like Mount Bromo tours, Ijen Crater, Baluran, Menjangan island and Sukamade.
Prices are good and they respond to questions quickly so seem good but I can't find any reviews on the company.
Has anybody had any experience with them and willing to comment?
I'm going to visit the plase next weekend. My plan is to rent a car and drive from Surabaya but I can't find anywhere where should I destiny. The PHKA (Forest Protection and Nature Conservation) post at Paltuding is suppose to be closest place from wher hiking is required but where is it exactly and am I allowed to drive/park there with private car?
Hi Im planning to take a chartered vehicle directly from Surabaya International airport to Cemoro Lawang, in order to cut on travelling time by waiting, hopping on multiple buses or taxis from various locations. I already have a reserved accomodation in Cemoro Lawang.
My question is
1. what is the recommended taxi (chartered vehicle) company i can get from the airport?
2. Is the company operating within the airport (e.g. there's a counter i can go to?)
3. do you know approximately the price from Surabaya International airport to Cemoro Lawang?
I just want to make sure im engaging the right company and paying the right price for the service.
Thanks in advanced

I'm planning to visit Bromo volcano and my plan is catch a train from Banyuwangi at 22.00 that arrives at Probolinggo or Pasuruan at about 3.30h in the morning. Do you know if there are buses or taxis at that time to go to Cemara Lawang or Wonokitri? I think it's good to see the sunrise, but I'm not sure if I can find transportation from the train station to the volcano at that time. Can anyone help me?
Thank you so much!!!
