    • Layover in Doha

      Qatar Jan 3, 2017 at 7:57 PM

      Hi Everyone!

My friend and I are traveling to Vietnam and we have about a 8 hour layover in Doha. We were really excited that we might have a chance to explore Doha for a couple hours before boarding again for Vietnam.

We would arrive in the evening and have to board again in the a.m. (about 8 hours give or take). Qatar Airways offers a complimentary tour of Doha according to their website which is pretty cool.

Has anybody used the tour provided by the airline or perhaps booked a tour guide for a bit of sightseeing? It would be a shame not to step foot outside and miss an amazing city.

      Thank you all!

    • Swimming Pool Rules in Doha Hotels

by jay_Emma Online Now Dec 5, 2016 at 1:57 PM

      Hi all

My partner and me are going to Doha soon and we heard that some hotels have separate swimming pool times for women and men. Can anyone advise whether there are hotels that don't have this rule? We want to make sure we don't book a hotel with this policy around swimming pool use. Cheers, everyone!

    • Doha airport stay

by Lozpie99 Online Now Oct 10, 2016 at 10:57 PM

I booked flights from Adelaide to London stopping in Doha. I booked these seperately to enable a 24 HR stopover so we could sleep, (we have a little baby) preferably at the airport hotel.
The airport hotel says you need a boarding pass to stay there, but as its not a connecting flight, we can't get one until we check in 3 hrs before.
Then, we have to get visas and book a hotel and taxis for what will only be auch a short time.

Has anyone been to the airport before or done something similar - I know it's my fault for booking silly flights so close together.

      Any advice?

    • Long layover (20hours) in Doha international airport, what and how should I do?

by youshan Online Now May 17, 2016 at 7:56 PM

My Qatar airline will make me stay in Doha for 20 hours (from 7:00AM on July 18th to 2:30AM on July 19th) until next transferred flight. My original flight is from New York in USA. I will head to Cape Town after I stay in Doha for 20 hours.

What should I do in Doha airport? I think that I need a long nap probably.
So, can I use complimentary stay during the time in airport hotel?

And, can I use complimentary access to any lounge for me?

    • time to clear customs at DOH?

by padlnjones Online Now Dec 16, 2015 at 5:54 AM

(sorry if this is a repeat)

We are flying to Nepal from PHL thru DOH in March. I assume we will need to clear customs at DOH. there is a flight to KTM with a 1 1/2 hr connection time. Is this reasonable?

Also, when we return from KTM to PHL, my best connection onward from PHL has a 1/12 hr connection time...

      thx for any advice!

by vandercoolis Online Now Oct 29, 2015 at 3:53 AM

Hello all, I'd be grateful if you could give me some pointers about the following.
I want to land at Doha and fly to Dubai before entering Qatar. My flight to Doha is not connected with the flight to Dubai, so officially it won't be a transit flight.
Would it be necessary for me to enter Qatar (EU passport - visa upon entering) and then exit within a couple of hours to catch my flight?

    • Getting tourist visa for Qatar during extended layover in Doha airport

by Elizabethlulanova Online Now Jun 2, 2015 at 8:04 AM

      Hello my dears!

I am an American and my best friend an Italian national - we will be at Doha (flying in from China and flying to Boston) during an extended (roughly 20 hours) layover since we are flying Qatar Airways. How do we obtain a tourist visa? Is it true you can just "pay" for one at the airport? Any suggestions to what we can do during that time frame?

And does Qatar provide hotels for such long layovers?

Two active and experienced senior world travellers. Our transit stop in Doha has blown out to 4h 50m (from 50m).

Is there anything we can usefully do/see in Doha in, say, 4 hours (allowing for all formalities), or do we try to make ourselves as comfortable as we can within the transit area?

Making our onward flight is imperative!

    • I want to visit qatar for 1 or 2 days to complete my bank releated work with IBQ

by babupca Online Now Dec 27, 2014 at 8:25 PM

      Dear friend,

I want to visit Qatar for a short visit. Some time before i was working in Qatar for the qatar airways as a consultant software enginner from India.

I was working only with the work permit, so once work permit was nearing to finish, i returned to india to work in the parent company.

In this period, when working in qatar, i was having a salary account in IBQ bank. After i returned to india on 10th 2014, the may month entire salary was deposited in the IBQ bank.

Since i dont have the RP in qatar, i don't have the online account and also my debit card was also blocked. Because of this i could not able to take that money.

The bank asked me to send the set of documents, were some documents i can able to arrange from the indian bank but not all the document. It is very tededious to get all the documents.

Hence instead i wish to go to qatar and complete my bank work and get the final salary hold in IBQ bank.

Kindly provide how i can visit qatar in what visa i can visit.

      Thank you

Can you tell me if we will need tourist visas (there is contradictory information on the web about transit visas so cannot confirm if transit visas are for 24 hours or 48 hours?) and if so, are tourist visas easy to obtain upon arrival? My husband and I have a long layover in Doha and would like to get out of the airport to see a bit of it. We land around 6pm local time and dont fly out until almost 2 am. We were thinking about going straight to the Souq Waqif to explore and get a bite to eat but it seems that Fridays are a bit different and it may be more difficult to get around. Is the Souq Waqif open on Friday evenings? What should we do if we cannot find a cab?

by Abi1603 Online Now Jun 4, 2014 at 12:06 AM

Hi, this is the first time I am boarding a non-direct flight. So here is the situation:

I am taking Qatar Airways from London to India with a stop in between i.e. Doha and I will be changing flights from Q565 to Q5(both are qatar) at Doha with a certain transit time.

There are options to have a transit of 1 hr/ 3hrs/ 5hrs. Which one should I choose?

Sorry this may sound very basic but I shall be really grateful if you could guide me on what happens at the transit after we get off from the first plane?

We go out/ get our documents verified/ collect our luggage and take a re-entry and go through the check in again or we are directed to some transit area/ have no luggage/ we spend time there/ directly go to the required platform/ board the next flight? How does this happen? PLZ Guide

      Thanks in Advance !
