    • Mountjoy Street - Dublin

      Dublin Nov 14, 2016 at 6:35 AM

I will be visiting Dublin starting tomorrow. My hostel is located on Mountjoy street, and recently I've read mixed review about the location. Generally this doesn't affect me, since I'm mostly a daytime traveler and tend to avoid unsafe areas/crowds. However, tomorrow I would be arriving around 9pm. My initial plan was to walk on foot from O'Connel Bridge, but in the light of the reviews I've read, I'm not so sure anymore. What do you recommend? Is there a real risk of getting mugged/attacked?

Also, any other safety advice would be highly appreciated.

      Thanks a lot.

      Ireland Nov 22, 2016 at 9:51 AM

Has anyone ever hired a private driver in Ireland? This would be done in lieu of renting a car. Is it expensive? Recommended? I'm planning a drip that goes from Dublin south around the shore up to Galway and back to Dublin. This would probably be done in a week's time. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

    • Waterford Worth it?

      Ireland Nov 8, 2016 at 5:54 AM

I am travelling to Ireland next May and will be there for about 10 days. Due to time constraints my friend and I are going to be staying in the southern part of the country. I love Waterford Crystal and would like to go tour the factory and store. However, it seems that there isn't much else there to see so I'm not sure if we'd spend the night there. We will be travelling by train and it doesn't look like there is anywhere to store luggage for a few hours. With our limited time, is it worth it to go to Waterford? Are there other things we shouldn't miss there that I'm missing? Just for reference, we're planning to spend 3 nights in Dublin and then also hit Cork, Limerick, either Ennis or Shannon, visit the Cliffs of Moher, go to Galway and then make our way back to Dublin. What do you think? Should we go to Waterford? Thank you for any help you can give.

DWAN Brew Pub, does it still exist or changed names?

      Thurles Nov 28, 2015 at 2:42 PM

Does the DWAN Brew Pub does it still exist or has it changed its name and what is the street address? It was in the heart of Thurles when we visited some years ago. Excellent beer, location and ambiance and we want to visit again on our next visit to Ireland. Thanks, Chuck

      Rock of Cashel closed

      Cashel May 12, 2011 at 3:52 AM

Unfortunately the whole site is closed just during my next week's visit... I am very disappointed about this fact, because I realized the rock as one of the higlights of my trip toireland... Do you think, Cashel is still worth the detour just to take a look to the rock from distance? I'm planning to go from Kilkenny to Galway...

    • Where to stay the night near Rock of Cashel

      Cashel Aug 15, 2010 at 5:04 PM

My husband & I,first timers to Ireland, will be leaving Kilkenny on a Wed. 9/9, and will drive to Rock of Cashel. Not knowing how long the drive will take or the best roads to take, should we plan on staying in town nearby, i.e. Caher, or Cashel itself? The day after we plan to drive to Waterford.

I was thinking of driving from Kilkenny on N76 to N24 to N8.
thanks to anyone who can comment.

Is there a restaurant or other business nearby that I can get a gift certificate from to send along with my thank you card? Thanks, Debbie
