We would like to travel around Donegal, playing golf and seeing the sights. Is Letterkenny a good town to do that from? It seems bigger than Donegal Town, but not as big as Derry.

Letterkenny is a nice little city. However, for golf and relaxation, you may want to consider the Rosapenna Hotel & Golf Resort in Downings.

If you have an interest in Irish history, then I also recommend a stay of at least two days in Derry.

If you are travelling around Donegal, you might consider playing more than one golfcourse? I agree with the previous poster that Downings is beautiful place to stay for a few days and Rosapenna is a famous golf course.

Donegal Town is a good base for daily excursions (close to Slieve League, Glencolumkille, Ardara) and there are two golfcourses, one just outside Donegal town and the other 10 minutes drive in Bundoran. Through your hotel or guest house you will be ableto avail of reduced green fees.

Donegal Golf Club at Murvagh, Co Donegal is an outstanding links golf course. Designed by the legendary course architect, Eddie Hackett, it is continually featured in Golf World's Top 100 courses in Ireland and Great Britain

Presenting a challenging par 70, our golf course sweeps along the rugged and picturesque Donegal Bay coastline with a mixture of dunes and undulating terrain making up our 18 holes. With endless views of the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the magnificent Dartry Mountains to the east, you are blessed with 360 degree superb panoramic views no matter what hole you are playing
