Hi, in New Zealand we have to declare shells and stuff and they will check tem and see if they pose a threat etc. But to do that I heard that you need to collect shells and go and get a liscence or certificate which shows that they have also been checked or something but does anyone know where I can get this liscence

      Rarotonga Apr 29, 2016 at 4:48 PM

Im going in June and keep hearing about stonefish and how debilitating they can be? Are they common in the sand near the beach? The internet would lead me to believe people are stepping on these fish daily.

    • Aitutaki Lagoon Resort & Spa vs Pacific Resort Aitutaki

      Aitutaki Oct 8, 2015 at 5:40 PM

      Hello
I am trying to book accommodation today for November. I am wondering whether to choose Aitutaki Lagoon Resort & Spa or Pacific Resort? Has anyone seen/stayed at both resorts to give a informed opinion please? I believe Aitutaki Lagoon Resort & Spa or Pacific Resort is on it's own island looking over the lagoon which is fantastic but the downside is that it can be windy and accommodation is a bit tired/old. Pacific Resort seems to have good reports however isn't in the same location (private island).
Also, where is the best snorkelling - Aitutaki Lagoon Resort & Spa or Pacific Resort or around Pacific Resort?
One more question, when it is low tide, does the water go a long way out at either or both of these resorts please?

      Appreciate your advice.

      Thanks

      Jen

Cook Islands Mar 16, 2014 at 6:21 PM

I am planning to go to the Cook Islands for Christmas and am trying to decide the best side of the island to rent a home. Just like Maui, I know one side is always nicer than the other . Do you have any suggestions. There was one place called seaspray villas but want to make sure the beach is not rocky.

We are looking at traveling to the Cook Islands in September 2014. There will be six adults & nine children, the youngest being 8mths, the oldest being 6yrs. We will probably stay for at least 2wks. We would like to do a mixture of sightseeing & relaxing, dining in & eating out. Which would be the best location to base ourselves at?

Have been invited to Rarotonga for a friends wedding in July 2014 but at this stage our first baby will only be 3 months old. Is it crazy to be considering doing this? The wedding is at Moana Sands and we are looking at staying there as well.

    • Phone and data plan

      Rarotonga Aug 3, 2013 at 2:59 AM

I will be travelling to Rarotonga (and Aitutaki) for three weeks in September - can anyone give me advice please about getting a sim card with combined data and calls (or even just with data). I wont need a huge amount of data - just enough to keep in touch with email and some light web use - maybe a little bit of Skype

My options are to put a sim card in either an iphone 4 or an iphone 5 and use that as a hot spot - or I could put a sim in my ipad just for data

      Thanks
