Has anyone got any suggestions please on where I should go? Thanks
I've booked a flight to Bangkok mid Jan 2017 to start a 3 month long trip to SE Asia visiting Thailand, Cambodia and Laos.
It's my first time backpacking and I am travelling alone. I have been searching the internet for Facebook groups and forums where I can meet other backpackers to chat with before I leave. What is the best way to meet other backpackers in Bangkok? I can't really afford a planned tour with the big companies and would prefer my freedom. What are the best bars / hostels to meet other backpackers in Bangkok who are solo? Are there more backpackers in Sukhumvit area or Khao san? Is there any bar crawls I go on to get chatting to people? I've came across a website introbackpacking.com which offers inductions in Bangkok but to meet people on the go..
Thank in advance for any help :-))
Hello, we just posted an enquiry on VT, as we are in search for two and a half month apartment/condominium "STUDIO TYPE" with small kitchenette, something to do simple cooking.
we will need the apt. or condominium from December 25, 2016 until about last week of February 2016. We will be taking intensive Thai Classes at Wat Pho.
Thank you and hope someone out there can give us great lead how to find economical yet decent place to rent.
What's the contacts for 'Thai Noodles and Food' restaurants at Sunarnabhumi Aitport?

We're a ~40-ish couple, I've traveled a lot around the globe. I've never been outside of the airport in Thailand. We have 6 full days in Bangkok (maybe 5 1/2 since we arrive very late and need some rest after 3 flights from US). I've checked many of the major travel sites (TA, LP, T&L, VisitThailand, etc), the forums here, the itinerary page here, etc. I've found a few recommended must-do's: Ayutthya, Chatuchak Weekend Market, Grand Palace, reclining Buddha/Wat Pho, floating market, Chinatown, Patpong or Suan Luum Night Bazar, and we want to do a 1/2 day cooking school (I see a lot of recommendations on this too). Now it's time to start to put it all together - an itinerary with places to stay, transportation, etc. I want to come up with a general itinerary (even restaurants though we will work with HappyCow on this as we'll both be eating vegetarian). I saw "HOT! HOT! HOT! This was BANGKOK!" - Bangkok by balhannah and I'm even more inspired to plan this better than my previous trips to other places. The trip is about 10 days away (I booked just a few days ago). We love to have local experiences when/where possible rather than just tourist stuff but I realize our time is short in Bangkok. Our trip is in early October so I believe it's not bad as far as weather is concerned.
First, from the airport, do you recommend taxi, Uber, train?
Next, what parts of the city should I look at for hotels? I will figure out the hotel from there as my searching is complex with various variables. However, I welcome recommendations.
Is tuk tuk/train the best way to travel around the city?
Day 1 (Thursday) should be something light and easy since we arrive at midnight the night before.
Day 2 (Friday) - Buddha?
Day 3 (Saturday) - weekend market?
Day 4 (Sunday) - other weekend market (floating?)
Day 5 (Monday) - cooking class +
Day 6 (Tuesday) -
Day 7 - go home :( ...to airport via Uber?
I know there's a lot here. I welcome any and all thoughts including a single tip all the way through suggested itineraries. I'm grateful for your time - thank you.
We are visiting Bangkok on 5th December that seems to be a festivity day in Bangkok. It would be our first time so we ara a bit lose. We are into a trip to Bangkok , Pattaya as couple in late fourties into spicing up in life style .would like to know like wise couples .or the right bars clubs for couples with no restrictions . Any one to give us some advise.
I will be travelling from Manila to Bangkok and at Bangkok Suvarnabhoomi airport, I need to take Qatar Airways to go to Bahrain. How can I collect my luggage and re-check-in. Do I need a visa and do I need to pay any tax.
Would I have enough time to transfer between airports if my flight into BKK lands at 05:45 and my flight out of DMK is at 10:50. I know that deplaning, the queues at immigration are a lottery as I have flown into BKK on numerous occasions, it is really the transfer that I need advice on as I've not done this part before.
Hi guys! Would like to ask for your help/suggestion... we'll be going to Bangkok this November 4days, any suggestions on places to visit and must see and also hotel? I heard the shopping area is in Pratunam....
I really appreciate any advice you can give. thank you!
Am going to Bangkok on 14th- 16th Nov with a group of 9 members. I will be visiting Grand Palace, China town, Chao Phraya River. Please suggest any other places that I could include.
Also I would like to know suggestions for stay, either hotels or apartments and in which area please.
My wife and I are planning to go to Thailand in Nov 2016 for 2 months.
I was looking at short term rentals and came across a range of rental quotes.
We want a 2 BR condo or apartment in a locality with easy access to transportation
We are not looking for deluxe cottages, but something clean & wholesome, with amenities
In a complex called Metro Park, I saw a 2 BR unit for about 30,000 Bahts a month
I dont know if the price is right or if Pasi-Jaroen District of Bangkok is Pricey
What is a reasonable rent for 1-2 BR apartment, with Kitchen, Gym, WiFi, Laundry etc
Which are some of the moderate sections of Bangkok that are well connected
I prefer to live in areas that has local flavor but which offers all modern amenities
Thanks in advance for your suggestions and help

I know that getting thai baht in thailand is the better choice, than getting it from our home country, I will be exchange HKD, do all the booths or bank accept them, more popular ones are the GBP or the USD are readily accepted, not sure about HKD.
what is the possiblity of waving a baht bus in pattaya and using it as a half to full days guide to take you around places.
If this is possible, what will the cost be, or will anything from 2000THB to 3000THB be enough, I will also cover the cost of food and other minor cost for the driver.
these are the places to visit, if I can fit it within a day.
four season floating market.
also If I want to visit the Nong Nooch Tropical Garden & Cultural Village in another day, how much will this normally cost with a baht bus, or will it be cheaper to go by taxi or a motorbike taxi.
I am opened to suggestions.
Hi, due to a restrictive calendar, the only time we're able to visit Bangkok is during the high humidity/heat months of March, April, or May. :-/ Could you give me some tips on how those of you who have traveled there at this time coped with the humidity? Itinerary suggestions for early AM and PMs. We're looking at hotels along the river to access the water taxis to sites, etc. I'm coming from Arizona which reaches 119 degrees at times in the summer and is steady over 110 for weeks on end but; thankfully, it's a dry heat! We're looking to visit the usual sites within Bangkok, relax a bit/soak in the culture, and visit Angkor Wat, Cambodia for a few days, as well. Thank you, fellow travelers!

Hello all! My partner and I are intending to travel to Bangkok from 7-12 or 13 August. Upon touching down we will check head to Chatuchak Weekend Market after checking into our hotel.
Question is however, we also have plans to travel to Khao Yai. Assuming we decide to spend a night there, we will have to bring our baggage along. Upon researching online so far, one of the best ways to travel to Khao Yai would be to use the minivans at Victory Monument. Will the minivan operators allow us to bring up our baggage on to the bus as they have no luggage compartments, thus taking up space for other passengers? We probably have 1 large and 1 small luggage.
Thanks for your help!
So my wife and I are going to Thailand in Oct this year, very familiar with Thailand but not this particular area.
We want to rent a car in Bangkok, drive to Arranyapratet and park, get across the border and go t Siem Reap for 3 days to check out the ruins. Can anyone tell me if this is doable? Been looking for a place to rent a car in this area and don't see one, otherwise I would go in and rent a car after we got back into Thailand but don't want to go all the way back to Bangkok to do that.
