Christmas Eve Church Service. Costa Adeje

Canary Islands Nov 15, 2016 at 4:36 AM

Myself and my husband are staying in Costa Adeje this Christmas. Would like to attend a Service Christmas Eve. Any recommendations? We are not Roman Catholic but are not concerned about this as long as we are genuinely welcome. An English Service would be preferable.

Gran canria with a 1 yo

Canary Islands Oct 28, 2016 at 3:42 AM

      Hello everybody.
My husband and I are planning to spend 7 days in Gran Canaria by the end of November, beginning of December. We are travelling with our daughter who will be almost 13 months by then.
We are trying to figure out which would be the best family-friendly area to stay with a baby. All tips are welcome and also some recommendations for accommodation (we'd rather stay in an aparthotel or in an apartment with cooking facilities and living-area... can't imagine one week in one bedroom with 13 months baby!)
We'd love to be in an area with restaurants and some activity but we are not looking for the busiest part in the island with night life and very touristy places.... Although all island must be very toutisty I'm afriad.
On the other hand, we'd love to be able to walk to a beach nice for babies and not have to jump into a car all the time. We will consider renting a car to visit the island. Any tips on this? What to do with a baby besides the beach?
Thank you in advance to you all!

      Data SIM Card in Lanzarote

Isla de Lanzarote Oct 18, 2016 at 7:34 AM

Does anybody know of what deals exist to buy a Data SIM card in Lanzarote?

I am hoping to buy a 2 GB data SIM card for my unlocked MiFi device, and when it runs out, to buy a new one.

Just in case coverage of the different networks vary by location, I will be mainly using this in Costa Teguise.

      Any advice appreciated.

      Thanks in advance,

Best option for family of 3 (couple + 1 year old) in Nov/Dec

Canary Islands Sep 17, 2016 at 3:28 AM

We are looking for a place to spend one week by the end of November, beginning of December. We are traveling with our (by then) 1 year old daughter so we'd rather stay in a place with good weather and not having to catch a long flight. As we are from Portugal we thought about the canary Islands.
Now we just have to choose one island! Any advice? Considering we'll be with a (possibly) toddler by then? We hate very touristy places and resorts but we are aware that maybe we'll have to "close our eyes" a bit this time.
      Thank you!

Weather and temperature late Nov- early Dec?

Isla de Tenerife Aug 26, 2016 at 2:28 PM

We would like to go to Tenerife for a week but won't be able to go until late November - early December. Would we be likely to get degrees around 25-27 at all, and if so, what part of the island?
I'd prefer up to 30 degrees, but because of work meetings we wont't be able to go until after 24 Nov, so now I am thinking maybe it will be too cool for me by then. It seems to be low season as well, as prices seem to go down towards Dec.

      Coronas Playa

Isla de Lanzarote May 28, 2016 at 4:27 AM

Myself and friend are booked to stay at the Coronas Playa in Costa Teguise in July. Does anyone have any recent experience of this hotel? In particular the average age of the guests? I ask because we booked this hotel on the Thomson website, it looks lovely, all inclusive, near the beach etc but recent reviews have got us a little worried. Quite a few people commenting that the hotel seems to be very popular with a much older crowd (age 70+ Making up a large %of the guests) we know it is adult only but expected there to be a wide range of ages! We are in our early 30s and are worried we will feel very out of place in this hotel now. Anyone been during a summer season and can let us know? Thanks!

    • flats for rent

Canary Islands Mar 27, 2016 at 2:42 AM

I´m planning to stay in Tenerife/Canary islands from October to February or March 2017. My favorite location is Los Christianos. Does anyone know what´s the best way to rent flat there? Preferably furnished.
I´m NOT looking for holiday apartments, cause they´re incredibly expensive. I have something of about 600 € per month maximum in mind. The cheaper, the better. Doesn´t need to be luxurious. 1 bedroom, kitchen, bath would be alright.

      Which view point is best?

Isla de Tenerife Feb 23, 2016 at 6:20 AM

Would like to know which, mirador Cruz del Carmen or mirador Pico del Ingles has the better view point. Bus return times give either one hour or three hours to look around and return to bus stop. We are traveling up from Los Cristianos to La Laguna, for the day, so want time to look round a bit there too.

    • Where to stay with kids.

Canary Islands Jan 29, 2016 at 12:48 PM

Hi there, Can anyone recommend a good resort for a family with kids. We don't mind which island but don't want Blackpool in the Sun. We went to Castillo Caleta de Fuste on Fuerteventura last year and really enjoyed it, so some where similar on another island. We have mostly gone to Greece before and liked resorts like Scala in Kefalonia and Archavari in Corfu, a resort with enough places to eat and drink different every night but not to commercialised. Any recommendations gratefully received.

      Many Thanks.

    • Canary Islands - which one?!

Canary Islands Jan 26, 2016 at 1:59 AM

Finally decided on somewhere in the Canary Islands - but where - can anyone make any suggestions? To be honest I have had a hellish year, so I want peace, tranquility. I wouldn't be happy with the young set drinking lager and getting drunk or the numerous boards of fish and chips! I am looking for a more cultural experience, but peace! Coming from London (love it) - but peace is needed!! I have heard the north is better, but where? Any recommendations? I don't mind the beach, but would also be happy with a greenery, nature etc. I am looking to go in February for some sun as I suggested in another post. Thanks for your help!

How often do you really see dolphins on those cruises? We don't care about the cruising, so it would be a disappointment to go and see none. Do we need to go to some other town to get to cruise? I didn't find any leaving from Santa Cruz with quick search.

      Stray animals

Canary Islands Dec 30, 2015 at 8:51 AM

Apologies if this has been asked before. I'm considering visiting either Lanzarote or Fuerteventura in the summer, haven't been to either since I was a kid so unfamiliar with both islands. I was wondering whether people have seen many stray animals around the resorts? I understand pretty much everywhere in the world has stray cats and dogs but I really hate seeing tiny, skinny kittens or packs of dogs running around, it really upsets me (Crete was heartbreaking!) and would put me off booking a holiday there. Any information? Thanks!
