      Katoomba local bus

by stamporama Online Now Feb 28, 2016 at 12:42 AM

My wife and I will go up to Katoomba by train and I 'd like to be clarified as to what bus to take. My plan is upon arrival in town, I shall take the 686 bus to Scenic World, tour the place and eventually get to Echo Point/Three Sisters. After the latter, we intend to further walk up to the Leura Cascades. After this we wish to head back to the Katoomba train station and return to Sydney. From the map, I see that the nearest bus stop is at the corner of Waratah and Emily St. which is also serviced by bus 686. May I confirm if this is where we can take a ride back to the train station? Thanks for any reply!

    • Train ride to Katoomba-Blue Mountains

by JaniceTan Online Now Nov 30, 2007 at 4:58 AM

Hi, I will be travelling to Sydney in a couple of days' time. I am deciding between taking a coach to blue mountains and the railway. Is the train ride from Central Station to Kamtoomba above ground? Does it offer a scenic view? Will it be crowded on a weekday?

      Hikes & Beers

by aYankinSyd Online Now Jun 25, 2007 at 7:12 AM

Hey all - heading to the Blue Mountains for a little hiking and a getaway. We are not there for too long, so can anybody recommend a couple of "must see's" in the area? And possibly two hikes in the 1-2hr arena. Thx! We are staying in Wentworth Falls, and I am assuming this is pretty close to it all.

Any local spots for a few good beers too?

      Many thanks in advance.

    • About Zip Zap Railway & Scenic World

by Teddy2005 Online Now Jul 31, 2005 at 8:41 AM

For Zip Zap Railway, is it better to take the steam one? Is it better to take from Clarence to Bottom Points or the opposite direction? How to get back our car?
For Scenic World, should it be more fun to take Railway then walkway then Flyway?
Should we visit the Megalong Heritage Center?
We are leaving for Sydney on the 4th Aug., can anybody give me advice in time please.

Anyone up for an Aboriginal Walkabout experience?

by swings Online Now Oct 26, 2004 at 6:19 AM

I found an exciting-looking brochure in the Blue Mountains a few weekd ago, and I can't stop thinking about it! It's for this Walkabout experience, which I just posted on my pages: This tour is regularly 8 hours in length, and one must be in pretty good physical condition to do the rock scrambling, etc.... Well, I tell you..... I have neck problems, and I'm getting toward the upper age limit, but I would SO LOVE to do the bark and/or body painting, the exploration of the rainforests and ancient Aboriginal sites, hear the dreaming stories, go swimming in some of the Blue Mountains lakes, etc.... So I wrote to the owner, Evan, who replied that he could make up a half day, 4-hour trip for me, and up to about 4 other people! I'm thrilled! But I cannot find anyone else who has agreed unconditionally to go along.... except my husband. So the question is... is there anyone out there right now who might be interested in doing this with us within the next week or so? Please respond if you're interested.... w
