    • Corsica in winter

      Nice Dec 22, 2016 at 12:42 PM

Has anyone taken the ferry from Nice to Corsica? I have a few questions.
Are restaurants, shops in geneal and points of interest open?
What is the livliest city to visit in January or February?
Does one need a car to get around?
      Thank you,
      Ephraim

    • Provence France1 week extra

      Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Jan 16, 2017 at 11:47 AM

I will be ending a tour of southern France on a Thursday - end of Sept 2017. The tour will include: Pont du Gard, Arles, Les Baux, and Nice. I will have 7 days (following Thursday night) to get back to Paris for return flight.
What would be a good trip? I have not seen Monaco, Antibes, Cannes, Marseilles, Aix en Provence, Vaison la Romaine. I would not mind going to Orange again. Prefer TGV rail over driving, but could rent a car for short trips.

    • Summer holiday

      France Jan 11, 2017 at 3:11 AM

Sorry to hear this site is shutting down.

I had an incredible summer honeymoon in Switzerland thanks entirely to commenters on this forum. I'm really grateful.

This question is very broad but I thought I might get lucky again!

Hoping for a may/June family holiday this year.
Traveling with a three year old and a one year old.
Beach, hotel, pools, nature, good food, a nice little town nearby.
We really want it to be child friendly with food and drink readily available but not too big a complex.
Also considering Italy and Greece, I'll post over there too.

Many thanks if you have any thoughts!
      Emma

      Paris Jan 4, 2017 at 10:22 PM

I'm keen to visit Villers Bretanneux while in Paris. I can catch a train to Amiens but need to be able to get to VB for a visit, then go to the Australian war memorial about a mile away. Any suggestions. I don't want to pay the E300 for a full tour of the Somme region. Driving isn't an option

      Paris with kids

      Paris Jan 13, 2017 at 6:23 AM

      Hello Paris experts ;-)

We'll be attending the U2 show in Paris on July 25 and want to add a couple of extra days in and around the city.
I don't yet know where we'll be staying.

Our boys - who will be 9 and 11 by then - will be joining us. In fact it was their idea go along to a show and then our oldest one decided he wanted to see the Eiffeltower ... And what's a mum to do then but to buy tickets for the Stade de France then ... anything to keep the young ones happy (and now I can 'blame' them for the trip ;-) ).

We'll likely arrive there around noon on friday 21st and leave for home again on wednesday 26th.

Do any of you have a suggestion as on what kids might enjoy doing. The Eiffeltower is a must. Besides that: they don't mind a museum (as long as it doesn't take an entire day), they like history and they're not fussy about walking.
I've read something about the sewers tour ... do you think that's worth doing with kids?

As always: thanks for your input!

    • Est-ce que le métro de Paris est encore dangereux?

      Paris Dec 27, 2016 at 12:58 AM

      Bonjour

Any must sees or must eats?

      Carcassonne Jan 11, 2017 at 6:22 PM

We will be spending a few days in Carcassonne in May-June and have things pretty well sorted out. However, it would be nice to hear from you if you have any suggestions for things we should not miss. Also, restaurant recommendations would be welcome for Carcassonne, Narbonne, Beziers and/or Collioure.

Thanks - this could well be my last question before VT gets the deep six.

    • Prehistoric caves visit

by dunnboat Online Now Aug 18, 2014 at 1:13 PM

A friend and I are taking a one week riverboat cruise starting 30/Sept and ending 06/Oct in Bordeaux, and would like to visit the Lascaux cave reproduction and possibly others in the area. Are there any one or two day tours from Bordeaux to the region? One of us will be coming from London and could fly directly to Bergerac. Are there tours from there, or possible a private guide to visit the area? Any advice will be appreciated.

    • Can anyone suggest a good day trip from Bergerac by train?

by SJaneS Online Now Feb 20, 2012 at 3:13 AM

      Hi

We (myself, my partner and 4 year old daughter) will be in Bergerac for 4 days in July. We will be car less and would like to take a trip or two outside of Bergerac by train and see the best of the region. My four year old gets very bored on trains for more than one and half hours. Can anyone suggest one to two great places to visit? Thank you!

    • Travelling to Gavaudun??

by D1james Online Now Aug 15, 2011 at 10:58 PM

Hi, I'm flying to Bergerac soon and want to get to Gavaudun. I am not driving and will be travelling with children. So far I've realised that I'll probably have to get a taxi to the city centre, as there are no bus/trains from the airport. Any suggestions on how I can travel from the airport/city centre to Gavaudun would greatly appreciated!

      Many thanks.

My husband and myself would like to book a place near Puy l'Eveque. In order to book with the place, they require total payment as of December for a place in March via check. Is this appropriate?

Please can you tell us what's happening in Bergerac at Christmas? We are there from 21/12/07 until 31/12/07 and are perticularly keen to know what to do on Christmas Eve that doesn't require dancing and loud noises!!
We are looking for something refined and quiet but something that will get us into the Christmas spirit!
Look forward to hearing from you.

      Visiting Bergerac /Bordeaux

by Jivegirl Online Now Jul 23, 2004 at 5:30 AM

My husband myself an 3 year old son are flying to Bordeaux in september (cheap flights oh yes). Not sure whether to stay in Bordeaux or Bergerac and travel around.. Would Bordeaux be too big and busy for a small boy ? Or are we best getting a hotel with swimming pool (hoping for good September weather!) in Bergerac and visit Perigieux ,Sarlat and Bordeaux for the day etc.Is ther enough to see in Bergerac for a week. We are into sightseeing and relaxing at quiet cafes etc with a good meal and a drink ...our son has known the word "pub" and Daddys "juice" from an early age!. We usually rely on public transport but gather it is not so easy to get around in this area so we may splash out on car hire. Also had thought any hotels in Bordeaux would be of the ibis kind cheap and cheerfull but have heard the area around the station(where they seem to be is far out from the centere and dodgy. Bergerac hotels with swimming pools seem to be near Bergerac station but hopefully has none of the dodgyness of the Bordeaux station area. Are there any good local food festivals etc on in September.. Any advice anyone can give Id be grateful our son is into boats trains swings and carousels
