      Senior rates on Israel rail

      Israel Oct 6, 2016 at 3:30 PM

Are only Israeli citizens allowed to use senior rates on the train? I can't find the answer at their website.

My wife and I are in our late fifties and plan to visit Israel next year spending a clear 14 days there. We would like to do thing at an easy pace. We have a reasonable interest in History and do not have deep religious inclinations. We are therefore only interested in a general sightseeing and getting an overview of the lovely country. We do not mind spending some time in cities and on beaches. We largely prefer ‘do it yourself’ travel, supported by some day / longer duration guided tours. We do not prefer taxis but use buses / trains etc. After a preliminary study, I feel that perhaps we could divide our time as follows: Tel Aviv - 4 days; Jerusalem - 5 days, Guided Tour of Northern Israel - 4 days, and Guided Tour of Masada / Dead Sea 1 day. Request advice and comments on: (1) is the distribution of time in various places OK? (2) Can we avoid taking a three / four days guided tour of Northern Israel but instead do Northern Israel by basing ourselves for one or two day in Haifa and one or two days at some other place (s) and then taking local tours from there if required? (3) If so where do we base ourselves and how do we go about it so that we can cover almost all that there is to see? (4) Any other suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks in advance.

Average cost of water deliveries in the Negev Desert for hikers

      Israel Oct 1, 2016 at 12:02 PM

Hi gang. I'm planning a 1,300 mile walk across the Middle East and have been trying to sort out water caching or deliveries for the Negev in Israel. I've seen a website, Waterdrop, which can deliver water but can't find any record on the web of the average cost for each delivery for a solo traveller. If anyone has any info on this I'd be very grateful. Just trying to budget ahead.

      Accommodation in Beersheba?

by LNata Online Now Mar 20, 2013 at 5:50 AM

Have again to travel in Beersheba for business for a few days and I am getting sick only by thinking that I have again stain in the same and the only hotel Leonardo (or Golden Tulip). Bad quality and terribly overpriced for the service they provide.

I cannot believe that there is no available any other accommodations or guest houses for reasonable price. May be anyone knows any of them?

    • Beersheba visit

by ate1964 Online Now Apr 29, 2005 at 1:21 AM

I would like to visit Beersheba to trace the history of the Australian Light Horse regiments during WW1.Please could you assist me by answering some questions.
1.How would I get from the Taba border crossing to Beersheba? Would it be possible for a travel company to pick me up at the crossing and drive me?
      2. I would need to hire a 4wd for the wadis to the south east of the old town where the Light Horse made their famous charge in Oct 1917.Would this be easy to organize?
3.Contacts for travel or tour companies in Beersheba to arrange this.
4.Rafa crossing: do you adise using this crossing or is Taba.
