      Car Rental

      Paris Jan 25, 2017 at 3:02 PM

I want to visit Auver Sur Oise when I am in Paris next time (April) and was thinking I might rent a car to drive there and back. I think there is only one train in and one train out per day (direct on weekends). What location would be the best to rent the car so that I can avoid driving through the streets of Paris? I don't mind taking the metro to get to the car rental place, I just want to find a location on the outskirts of Paris in the direction of Auver Sur Oise. Thanks in advance.

by EAD5 Online Now May 31, 2016 at 3:47 PM

We are staying in Bayeux from Saturday 4th June to 11th June before relocating to Caen for two nights to take part in the Pegasus Half marathon . We are taking cycles and wondering if there are good cycle routes nearby in Bayeux or further a field that we could maybe drive to with the Cycles , for a days or half day cycling . No more than 35 miles , saving our legs for the running! Also have looked at the lefalet on the D day festival events , any recommendations as to which ones to try to get to?

      Where to stay en route?

by ranger49 Online Now Jan 22, 2016 at 12:50 PM

We plan to re-visit the northern coast of Normandy after Easter and for “very” old times sake have chosen the Portsmouth - Le Havre crossing. Many of our favourite hotels in the area seem to have disappeared.

We have booked a couple of nights in a Logis de France near Fecamp but are having difficulty in choosing somewhere NOT on the coast, to stay for TWO nights between there and Bayeux. ( not in Bayeux).

We need to reach Bayeux by 3pm at the latest. All suggestions welcome . Hoping for a place, small town , with some historical interest - ancient and modern- and a good family run Logis style hotel with a good restaurant.

    • Sept. Train Schedule

by lvregan Online Now Mar 22, 2015 at 9:48 AM

Bon jour, We're planning a trip this Sept. for this area and to take some tours. Our Overlord Tours agenda has us ending at 5:30/6:00 PM on a Monday about 1/2 mile from the Bayeux train station. I've seen two different train timetables to Paris (via Caen), one says the train departs at 6:11 and the other says departation is at 6:37. I have no worries we could make the latter time, but wonder about the earlier time. Could someone verify the actual departure time for Monday Sept. 14th. Thank you for your time.

We will be in Bayeux midway through a 14 day trip and would love to be able to get some laundry done so we can minimize packing. Are there any laundromats that do drop off service? Otherwise what are the laundromat options? We will be staying at the Churchill Hotel. Looks like there is a self serve laundromat nearby, close to the tourist office. Any others?

We will be driving in Normandy starting from Giverny and ending up in Bayeux. I want to drop the car off in Bayeux and take the train to Paris where we will be staying for 3 nights. The question is can we drop the car off in Bayeux and get a direct train to Paris? I was told Caen would be better since it had more direct trains to Paris but also was told that dropping a car off in Caen can be a nightmare. Can someone advise. Thank You.

Do you know of any organised holidays from England that would take in these interests? I do not want to drive but am Ok with trains or coaches.

by joancon5 Online Now Sep 13, 2010 at 9:21 PM

Does Mme LaFevre still serve dinners as well as breakfast? My husband, two children, and I visited and stayed at the Family Home in 1998 or 1999 during the first full weekend of July. Not only did we enjoy the wonderful dinners prepared and served by Mme. LaFevre and staff, as well as the Family Home itself - which is made of previous church buildings built in different centuries, but that weekend is the weekend of Bayeux's Renaissance Faire. As it is a true Renaissance town, all enjoyed the food and festivities. Definitely a must do when visiting Normandy!
