Hi, should I exchange my GBP£ for Bali currency in the UK or should I wait until I get to Bali?
I am travelling to Bali for 14 nights in June and I am seeking advice on where to visit and for how long.
This is a loose plan so far however I am open to suggestions!
4 nights Seminyak
3 Nights Ubud
3 Nights Gili T
4 Nights either Lombok with a day trip to Uluwatu during our stay in Seminyak or 3 nights in Uluwatu and an extra night in Gili T with day trip to Lombok.
In terms of what we are looking for on our trip, we are looking for a variety of things. We are a young couple and like going out and partying however we also want to do lots of cultural things as well and see some temples. We prefer to stay in five star hotels/villas and we have already chosen ones we like in Seminyak, Ubud and gili T.
Ideally we would like at least one destination on our trip to include nice white sand beaches however we are not big water sports people so that is not mandatory. We have decided against Nusa Dua though as we want to experience more of what Bali has to offer rather than stay in a 5 star resort the whole time.
I would also like to swim with turtles which I have heard you can do in Gili T and see some waterfalls which seem to be abundant on Lombok however I was wondering if this could be a day trip?
I want to visit all of the above at some point during the trip however I am undecided on whether to do a day trip to Lombok when in Gili T and stay in Uluwatu for 3 nights or to visit Uluwatu for a day trip while in Seminyak and then stick with Lombok for 4 nights. My main concerns are how few and expensive the nice resorts are in uluwatu are (I am finding it difficult to find the right accommodation in terms of price, availability and service level) while I have found this to be easier on the north side of Lombok I am concerned about the travelling time staying in Lombok will add on to the trip and that the nice beaches seem to be much further south far from the hotels in the north?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I have a thought on travel route in Bali (7nghts) and would like the experienced members to comment on the pro & cons
....Go direct from airport to Sanur and stay for two nights (leaving one case in local storage)
Then travel to Ubud for two nights
Then travel up onwards over hills to Lavina or Pemuteran (recommended by lonely planet) for two nights
Then take west coast road back and stay in Seminyak for one night before collecting case & departure
I am estimating travel time in car with driver, subject to traffic....are these correct?
30mins from Sunur
2.5 hrs from Ubud to Lavina
3 hours from Pemuteran to Seminyak
25mins Seminyak to Airport
I look forward to your comments
Is lonely planet ebook on Bali worth buying and upto date?
I head off in a few weeks and wanted to ask members if any had bought it and thought this ebook was a worth while addition for their trip?
Will not go diving so don't need it on that front.
While writing can members advise if Sanur is worth a two or three day visit .....current thought is to perhaps head straight there from flight arrival as it should only take 25mins with roads being quiet late at night.
All thoughts welcome and appreciated
I have now read many reviews and bit disillusioned with Bali.......'beaches are poor, so many touts, so many people wishing to increase taxi fares' etc.....now I have second thoughts of going. Kuta, Legion & Seminyak have been dismissed due to poor reviews......thinking I will go straight from airport to Ubud ( although slightly hesitant because it arrives at 11pm) spend 3 nights there in booked hotel then just book as I go along from there .....or should I have all booked before I arrive? I am going to take motorbike training before I leave as it looks best way for me to travel in my own time...
With hotels....would you trust the reviews with booking.com or Expedia.com? ..... we just seek a basic clean and tidy hotel with fresh linen & towels with a breakfast supplied.
Is there someone or some company in Bali with good local knowledge of hotels?
Even virtual tourist ... there seems to be only a few locals writing on forum....am I in wrong forum?
I am a miniaturist and I have seen some beautiful Indonesian scale furniture for dollhouses so I would like to know the best area to find anything like that. We will be staying in Ubud and probably taking some craft classes there. Also interested in a cooking class.
I need help how to go to jogyakarta from bali and from jogyakarta i want to go surabaya and bandung,is there any bus or train beside taking the flight.
I have an opportunity at short notice to visit Bali mid January for 7 nights while i appreciate it is rainy season
I thought it was worth the visit as it is only a small extra fee from airline to stop off...... would you agree?
if so is 7 nights too long should it be 5?
next if staying where is the best location to be and of course where would i find a simple hotel (clean and tidy, fresh linen with good shower and breakfast). and suggestion of costs for basic hotel.
here's hoping some members can help me with this decision (as has always been the case in the past :)
Hi all I am looking for recommendations for catering companies for my Bali wedding next July .. I am looking for great quality food cheers Lisa
Anyone have any info or experience with the tour company Intertrips. Not much on line. They seem legit and a
subsidiary of a much larger Chinese travel group. They are currently running some insane deals on travel to SE Asia and Bali with air, accommodations, transfers and a basic tour here and there but with mostly free days. Accommodations check out as good or better tourist class. We usually are independent travelers but these deals are hard to resist.
Can anyone recommend a very good healer or TCM practitioner in Bali. I have an old injury that continues to seriously bother me.

I and my fiancee are planning to go for our honeymoon after a week of our marriage on 28th of November to a tropical Country for a week. we were considering Bali as a first preference and Mauritius as second. but most of the web search showed that it will be rainy weather in bali during that period but Mauritius was considered better in weather conditions. I'm still confused about the destination due to weather. we are looking for a relaxing and a cultural activities but without a good weather condition it can get ruined.
Please help me decide what is the best place considering the weather conditions and activities and places we can discover during those 7 days.

My travel group will be traveling to Bali in May 2017. We are running into Vat tax and Service charge in addition to the rental amount. Not at all concern about the vat due to the vat refund for tourist. Is the service charge a common practice? I think we may be working with a management company without our knowledge. Any clue how to get around these service fees. We are needing 30 rooms during our stay.
Me and my fiancée (with several other people )will be traveling to bali in May of 2017. We plan on stay 3 weeks (+/-) there. We would like to start in Ubud for 4 days (flying from the US) to unwind and do some hikes (mt batur) /rice paddies/temples/
elephants. Then move down to the uluwatu area for another 4 days, here we will be eloping. Recommendations on surfing spots?? (3 are advanced surfers) we'll hopefully be staying at the bali luxe villa in Uluwatu. From here we hope to travel to Nusa Lembongan/Ceningan (for more surfing/relaxing) not sure how long we should stay here. Then to the gili islands (unsure of how long we should stay) then finishing the trip in seminyak. Does this sound like too much for 3 weeks??? Thanks for the insight and suggestions :)

Hello knowledgeable people.
I am off to meet my military other half in Bali on Thursday (31/03) and the weather forecast is looking quite gloomy, the only reason this bothers me is the risk of the flights being altered/delayed... Does anyone know if this is likely? Is it a regular thing or mostly unheard of? Any feedback Bali related, tips and hints are more than appreciated (we are staying in Canggu). thank you!!!
