    • Any free walking tours available?

      Aruba Jan 27, 2015 at 12:43 AM

This is my first visit to Aruba arriving on a Carnival cruiseship at 8 am til 4 pm next week. Does anybody know if I could do a self- or guided walking tour once I arrive? If yes, where can I get that?

Is this a walkable place to see history/culture/shopping/architecture/beach or do I need to get a taxi. I'm trying to save money and not take a ship excursion like I usually do at a new port. However, if you think I should tour the island, that is what I would do. Advice and recommendations appreciated.

    • Mystery Restaurant

      Aruba Jan 5, 2015 at 7:52 AM

I visited Aruba about 10 years ago and am going again in a month. I went to a restaurant that was in land and among local houses. I can not think of the name of it, but part of it was outside and part of it was inside with a bar and a really good bartender making crazy good drinks... The food was awesome and I remember there being a pickled onion appetizer... I really want to go back, and looked through a list, but no restaurant names jumped out to me... Any Help? Hopefully it's still open.

      Luggage Storage

      Aruba Jul 6, 2014 at 11:59 AM

I'm transitting Aruba (Queen Beatrix) and have about 8 hours on the island. I'd love to get out of the airport. I'll try to check into my second flight but i don't know if they'll do it that early.

So questions is... do they have a luggage storage at the airport? I've looked through the airport website and can't find mention of one :(

Second question is... what would you do with 8 hours (12 pm to 8pm) on the island?

    • Never been to Aruba

      Aruba Jun 24, 2014 at 2:15 PM

I want to take my wife somewhere this Friday for 8 days for our anniversary. We have never been to Aruba and wanted to know about night life and weather. We like to go to bars, clubs, lounge at the pool and beaches etc. Weather shows low 80's with days of rain so was wondering if when it rains it rains all day or short showers etc. Appreciate your input. We usually go to Mexico a few times a year to places like Cabo, Playa, PV etc. and would like a change. Thanks!

      Transportation To Bon Bini Festival?

      Aruba Mar 23, 2014 at 12:39 PM

What would be the best way to get to the Bon Bini Festival at Fort Zoutman?
We would leave during the day, so taking a bus wouldn't be a problem, but the festival ends at 9 PM. How will we get back? How much would taxi cost? We are staying in Noord.

      Rental Company Screwed Us

      Aruba Mar 22, 2014 at 6:43 PM

      We're in a bit of a predicament.
We booked a car online, but they told us you pay upon arrival. We called the company, and they told us we can only pay with a credit card, which we do not have.
Than we checked another company, and they want a $600 deposit, which we also don't have. That is ridiculous! That is more than the cost of the rental.
So now we are stuck without a car. We originally had it booked for the whole week, but we had no idea it would be such an expensive and complicated proccess. We only really need a car for Arikok, Hooiberg, and maybe Baby Beach. Everywhere else we can take the bus, or walk. So we're thinking about just renting one for a day.
What are some good companies, where you can pay with a debit card, and you don't have to leave a deposit?
Is there any place we can rent a car on site?

Does it get cold at night?

      Aruba Mar 12, 2014 at 8:03 PM

I know it's in the tropics, but it's still a desert, and I know deserts can be 80 degrees during the day, than 40 degrees at night. I don't know if I should bring warm clothes or not.

Also, how bad is the wind there? Does it blow everywhere? I don't know if I should bring my hat or not. Will it blow away.
