My flight has been delayed and will arrive SFO after 3pm. I hope to travel on to Monterey late afternoon on shuttle or by public transportation. I looked at shuttle service and a one way is $55. Not sure where the drop off will be as I am staying in Monterey overnight near transit plaza to be close for early morning ongoing journey to Santa Barbara. Do I have enough time to do this journey to Monterey by public transportation, if its more reasonable, or is the shuttle my best option. Have not been able to switch to earlier flight out of JFK and want to avoid overnight in San Francisco as will have enough time to visit on my return journey. Thanks.
We are staying at the lodge at the falls, early August. 3 nights.
We enjoy a walk with a view. Should we do our own walks or take a guide?
Any suggestions for other excursions while there? Should we book in advance?

Hi there. I am Canadian thus the weak dollar and would like to travel in California for 2.5 weeks. In terms of prices I was startled, they are really high. I will be travelling with two young children so couch surfing may not be the best option. Airbnb seems expensive too. Where to? San Fran, Napa, Carmel, Saratoga springs, big sur, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles near the coast as in Torrence or Santa Monica. Any help on options? I see roach motels of over 150 US that's a lot! I don't like roaches!
Driving from SF to Yosemite Park. 1st week of August. I guess trip is about 3-4 hrs. Any suggestions of anything to see on route. Suggestions for breaks also welcome.
Youngish, active retirees looking to leave snowy East Coast for southern California next winter (Jan-Feb) for about 3 weeks, Possibly plan on renting via VRBO or similar or possibly suite hotels and visit from San Diego to Santa Barbara. (hope to do Big Sur, SF, etc on another trip). Interests are usual sights, museums, towns, (but not the silly touristy stuff) in the warmer weather. Question is whether to try to stay in one, two, or even three locations?? Is a base near LA workable with day trips, or even 2-3 nights stays north and south, or some other plan? Thoughts, please?
I am due to enter the park from the east from Mammoth Falls on the 30th May and getting a little anxious it may not still be open. I have seen the Tioga pass update and it has not changed since the 6th May, but this also shows me that the Glacier Point has opened, looking at historic dates Tioga pass normally opens not too long after. Is this a fair assumption and can anyone say from experience if they think it will open in May?
wanting to drive to lake Tahoe from vegas scenic route through death valley staying overnight part way in July.
